    I use Scott's with 15lb sharks and black releases and haven't had problems dropping the riggers (nearly free fall slowed stop). I keep alot of tension on the line as I'm letting it down with my thumb, gets uncomfortable if its a far drop. Perhaps consider the tension on the fishing line.     It definitely looks like an OMC to me. I have had 2 boats now with omc outdrives, my parents have one now and that's different yet.     Scratch that last, I found them. They are all metal cannon 4 position bases. Swivel quite nice. I have not used them as they came on a pair of down riggers I purchased. They have a nice tight feel to them, so I doubt they are very worn in. $75 for the pair, Fairhaven is as far as I'm looking to travel east though, let me know what you think.     We were out infront of sodus suday started in 150 with a wad of boats, milled around there for longer than I should have. A couple hits here and there both directions. Had a report of fish deep so we pointed to the middle. Hit 600 fow and trippled. This was around 1100am. Was a manageable nonstop till 1500.
