7/13 sandy creek
fisherman85 posted a topic in New York Fishing Reports - Lake Ontario (South Shore)
Started off at 140 at 545am looking to get a fish on the boat after doing a new nice king and steelies 7/12 pm knew where to head off to. Slow start picked up a 8 lb steelie & small king on rigger 65 down got a screamer on the wire 180 out after 30 or so min finally worked him in thinking it was atleast 30 lb was only 28 so no need for a weigh in kept playing around in the 200 240 and got a other small steelie on the 55 rigger then finally got a feisty steelie and the same rigger green glow frog nk 28 was bouncing between 12 n 13 lb so we figured we my as well weigh that one In And the seas were getting up there weight in to be 11.15 at narbys getting up on the board in 8th place was a fun but slow morning -

Went out of sandy for a late trip with my gf started around 100 ft at 7pm before I had the 3 rd rod in the water we had a 14 lb laker 77 down take off figured would be a good starter or her tried getting a good pic of her and her first real fish lets just say after 2 attempts we made it happen not long after getting all 6 rods in the port low rigger pops w a 8 lb king that I pulled in shortly after another laker around 7 lb took a bite on a high rigger 50 down just as I net that one the starboard deep rigger 77 down starts ripping line out knowing it was a nice king I handed it over to my gf and that fish took her for a run all I herd was my belly hurts and where is it finally after 25 min of torture I was able to net her first nice king around 18-20 lb got some good video o her trying to reel it in and it screening line just won't let me post it we ended the night w another laker 12 lb and heading in around 830 pm 5 for 5 in a hr n half couldn't beat that ESP the priceless videos and pics of my gf holding a few nice fish

I have a ? a week ago i bought 13 great lake diawa rods 8 ft and 8 ft 6 real nice light rods because i have been told they are funner to catch fish with i spoole them up with 30 lb and 20 lb leader and seem to be loosing alot of fish after they release..... Any reason the shorter lighter rods would do that or am i just losing fish...Also i started using snubbers on my dipsys and am noticing im losing more fish on them as well i might have to go back to the old set up i used which i hardly lost fish with if u have any suggestions let me know??
