Liking story short my wife got it for me for my B day. Rented it for a week cause I have talked about staying at the lake for a week to fish kings. So because of that I would never say or change anything. I'm trying to figure out how the fishing would be in that part of the lake (sodus) the 1 st week of sept and worse came to worse I could run to Oswego since I have fished them before there for yrs.

I rented a house for the 1st week of sept in sodus bay. Planing on fishing all week (weather permitting) . My question is being late season when the fish are staging if I have to make the runs to oswego every day would it be productive to troll all the way or just blast over there ? I have never fished that area only fished oswego and Pulaski over past 20yrs. I have never stayed in sodus but decided to so that I could have my boat in the water . I'm hoping I didn't make a bad decision by renting here. Any help or input would be greatly appreciated . John

Just got back yesturday from oswego . Fished Friday / sat . 19 out of 26 ,,kings and 3 steel. Fished 140 both days never left this one pod of bait. Had fish hitting both days right out front of river. It was all mag spoons for us anything black and purple. 70% came on dipsy 250 back 5 foot leader just spoon on it. Rigger fish came between 60-100 ft down. Down speed 1.8-2 down temp 49-52. Just find the bait and hit it from every direction. That's what worked for us. Good luck -
No flex at all. As a matter a fact the telescoping ones canon sells flex allot with 12# balls on them. I was so impressed with them I had to pass this on.... I'm an engineer, so I do this allot with over priced products in the hunting and fishing fields...And it dosnt look cheap at all, actually better then the original. There on my 2013 , 24ft pursuit. I just couldn't justify $150 for 2 pieces of tube.. Lol Try it for $12 and enjoy...

For any one interested in saving some $.... I went to Home Depot purchased a 12ft galvanized fence post (1inch) dia cut 2 four ft pieces primed and painted them black and drilled matching holes from the 2 ft canon booms that came with the riggers and mounted them on to my mag 10s. The ID and OD is perfect. In the end total cost is $12 . Vs $75 per boom min...

Oswego Adventure

That's pretty sad. I had that happen to me in the sound last yr. not wanting to pay $400 for a sea tow I put a call out on the radio and with in seconds I had 2 people respond to come help. I tried so hard to give this gentlemen $$ and he wouldn't take a dine from me. He said all he asked is when I hear that call for assistance on the water (no matter what it is) be the 1st to respond and help. Since that mishap I have been on the helping end of the tow rope 3 times and will continue to pay it forward. -

So I went to the web site. But it doesn't say the ramp is closed or that u can't launch. Is it just because there will be tons of people ? I was planing on launching Sunday morning. I'm not familiar with fair-haven or any other launch. -

I have seen those videos . And I agree with your thoughts. It's just frustrating because we had the potential to boat tons of fish. We seem to have the right set ups working just couldn't keep them on. I tried slowing down , sizing up and down on the hooks , even replaced some of the trebles with single hooks. Witch I might add worked the 1st time we did it but the next hit .. On for 1 min and gone! Hahah next couple weeks should be interesting since the bite was hot and fish seem to be getting unpredictable as far as temp and water depth.. -
Just got back this morning from 1-1/2 days on water. Fished in front of stacks in 120. Managed 6 kings all 15-30 lbs. took hits on dipseys and riggers didn't keep track but do know most hits were in the 60-70 ft depth over 120fow. Lots of boats in side in 80-100 so we decided to fish on the out side of them instead of zig zagging every one. Good thing because we had non stop action. One interesting thing was we had ALLOT of hits on riggers and dip and no one home . Hooks were sharp and berried in clips. It was weird we would grab rod feel the fish for a couple seconds while the drag would scream and boom gone! This happened 2 dozen times at least. Boat speed was only 2.5 to 2.8 ... On well had a blast anyway. Hope this helps u guys out there. Oops almost forgot on riggers they were hitting anything black and purple (spoons) on dips it was FF glow dot and green fly.

Absolutely Unnecessary

I have had some of these encounters late in the fall with "charter " boats. Personally i think they watch to much wicked tuna ... hahahah You would be surprised how quick there tone and attitude changed when you pull up your lines and run right up to there bow and ask them " hay big mouth were you talking to me"? Yup real tuff from 100 yrds away. No one owns the lake! And making a living is no different then you and I enjoying our time on the water. If it wasn't for you and I fishing and supporting local tackle shops restaurants ect in the area they would have no living! Good luck fishing and don't let 1 big mouth change the way you fish. -

I have learned so many times not to trust the reports on weather. I drive 4 hrs one way to fish a couple days and more often then not its blowing 20 plus... Go figure only job in the world u can be wrong all the time and still keep that job!! -
Fished all day Friday 6am- 3 , NoTHiNG!! Temp 70deg from top to bottom. Couldn't find any good temps. 180-300. Radio talk sounded like every one having same prob. And yes weather jerks called for 5-10 , one foot or less and sure as **** it was 10-20 in the am and 2-4 with some big rollers mixed in all morning. Gonna give a few more weeks and try my luck again.
