  1. backtrolling is more of a walleye technique used to present live bait at very slow speeds(<1mph.)
  2. What are the dimensions on the base?
  3. That's when you break out the cleos or plastics and start jiggin/casting!
  4. I will definitely be splicing in some 30# big game if I do go back out on canandaigua, and you are right, that stuff is a completely different animal than the 10# I use on canadice
  5. sorry, didn't make it near the condos either. Most of the marks/bait I saw were closer to the south end, if the wind wasn't so bad today I would have stayed down there and worked a smaller area but my little 16'/9.9 horse gets blown around quite a bit
  6. yeah we were over 160 or so, that 60# was the hottest thing we had going today, also wish I had spooled up some heavier line on my rigger rod.
  7. launched out of woodville around 6 with ruger1nut, set up off the drop off and sent out a 100' copper on a walleye board, 300' 30# copper, 300' 60# copper, and a size 0 dipsey on 30# powerpro super slick, and 1 downrigger parked at 55'. First hit was on the rigger with an orange dreamweaver super slim, off after about ten seconds or so. Next hit was a nice 5# bow that hit a stinger dirty white boy on the 300' 60# copper. A few more rips on the copper and fish lost behind the boat and that was about it for the day. Fleas rendered the downrigger useless as I only had 10# big game. Rode the waves up to vine valley and turned back south, not a single hit heading into the wind and I had a tough time holding a decent speed going into the wind.
  8. Eye?
  9. Thanks for the info blueghost
  10. Can anyone tell me if the fleas have been an issue lately? Looking to get out sometime this weekend. Not equipped with flea flicker or wire divers so please don't suggest those, thanks in advance.
  11. I use a 7' medium fast basspro carbonlite baitcaster. One piece, with a carbonlite reel as well. Spooled with 15# powerpro in moss green, 3' 10# seaguar floro leader connected with a small barrel swivel and a snap on the end. This works for anything 3/8 up to an ounce. Also use a 1 piece 7' st croix medium lite extra fast wearing a shimano sahara spooled with 10# powerpro terminated the same way for fishing anything 1/2oz or less.
  12. I run a rods-length leader of flouro. 10-20lbs depending on the intended species

  14. I'd try dropping a jig, that could be a lot of fun
  15. For me its, spinners with #4 colorado or willow blades, colors depend on the day and location but gold/bring colors usually do a good job. Spring/fall I like reef runners in all sizes, Pink lemonade is my go-to color. Deep taildancers work well as do JDDHJ's in purpledescent and clown

  17. price drop 1050$, this boat will easily fit in the bed of a small(ranger,s10) sized pickup and will do 25mph on the water with a 240lb guy in it.

    Big walleye

I only ever hear of big ones (8#+) being caught anymore which makes me think that natural reproduction hasn't been occurring yet

    Big walleye

springwater rod and gun club used to stock it yearly with walleye, apparently the DEC polled a bunch of fisherman and decided that they wanted to focus on creating a naturally sustaining rainbow population. After that happened, I guess they pulled Springwaters permit to stock. Personally I would love to see a healthy walleye population in Hemlock, there are tons of trout lakes.
