It was a great day for the annual Seager Marine Spring Perch Tournament. The perch were a bit stubborn but everyone managed to do well in the end. First place was taken by the Jeremy Kierst team with 6.34# for 5 fish. Second place was 4.3# by the Steve Wright team, third was 4.00# by the Jason LaMagna team, and fourth was 3.85# by the Dave Booth team. It was a fun time with refreshments at the weigh-in as everyone told their fish stories! Can't wait till next year.

Weather looks good for Saturday. Should be a fun time going after those big perch for the tournament. Stop in at Seager Marine tomorrow (Friday) between 9 and 5 or come early on Saturday 6:00 - 6:30am. Details in post above.

Lake is clear of ice. Just need to watch for debris. Lots of boats out there today. Time to sign up for the perch tournament to be held on April 25th!!

Guppy35 - I prefer LUND over Tracker. There are several reasons for this. There is a continuing debate over welding vs rivets. Welding (Tracker) distresses the material and can result in cracks. LUND uses hand driven rivets through double thickness of aluminum. LUND's Integrated Power Strake hull design helps with boat control and stability. There are other reasons that I can go over with you down the road as you get into your research phase. As far as LUND pricing, I would compare the Tracker Targa to a LUND Impact 1775. You can get an Impact 1775 with a 115hp motor for under $26K.

Hemlock-Canadice Motor Size Clarification
Fbog12 replied to waywack40's topic in Finger Lakes Discussion
Agree with zackblain. The way it's stated in the NYSDEC Regs is: 'Boats are allowed, but a mechanically propelled vessel must be less than 17 feet in length, and operating motors must be 10 HP or less." -
New boat - Lund, Smoker Craft, or Hewescraft opinions
Fbog12 replied to ddubs3's topic in This Old Boat
If you're in the Canandaigua area, Seager Marine has several LUND's to look at. Some of them are shown on their website (Seagermarine.com). There are some 2014's with some good prices. -
Canandaigua - 10-27-14 beautiful day and....
Fbog12 replied to Sk8man's topic in Finger Lakes Discussion
I also got out for a couple hours late this afternoon on Canandaigua. Stayed north near the pump house and only managed to find one laker about 3#, very long and skinny but quite feisty. He came on a Blade Runner 22 down 50 over 60 fow. I only ran riggers with a variety of FLT, Suttons, and Blade Runners. As Les said, beautiful day on the water. Our days are numbered!! -
Canandaigua was rolling pretty good today with the consistent 25+ mph SSE winds. Very quiet at the marina! I'm sure all the lakes were the same. Things don't sound as bad for tomorrow afternoon (west winds 9 - 15) and Sunday (southwest 11-15). If you're not aware, there is a Weatherbug station at Seager Marine (it's listed as the Finger Lakes Visitors Connection) that can provide up to the minute conditions for the lake. Good luck with your scouting, Jason. I'll be working at Seager's tomorrow if you happen to make it up to the north end of the lake. Again - welcome to the FLTA group, have fun, and I hope you have a safe and 'fish full' tournament!! Ted

Canandaigua has been tough this summer, Mike. I wouldn't give up on it yet though. Things are a little late this year so mid to later October and early November could be good. Wednesday was one beautiful afternoon on the lake though!

Got out for a couple hours each day, late afternoon. Fish weren't biting, but the good news is that the fleas and grass were not bad. Fleas that I did get were the lighter colored variety that could be flicked easily. I marked pretty good with bait and fish, mostly at the 60 foot depth over 60 to 100 fow. Fished from the pump house down to Tichenor and a little farther south, mostly west side. Good marks right off the point at Tichenor. Not sure what the approaching cold front and winds will do for the weekend fishing. Hopefully things will settle down for the FLTA group on Sunday. Good luck to all! Reminder - the Seager Marine Tournament on Saturday (10/4) has been canceled.

Canandaigua Seager Marine Fall Tournament Canceled
Fbog12 replied to Fbog12's topic in Finger Lakes Discussion
Hi Les. I was out yesterday and today and the fleas and grass weren't bad at all. The fish were there but they sure didn't like anything I had to offer. I think it's just a matter of time. Art and I plan to discuss a reschedule tomorrow. I like this time of year on the lake as well - but same as you, I don't hunt anymore. I'll keep things posted here. Have a safe trip! Ted -
Sorry - but the Seager Marine Fall Fishing Tournament has been canceled. There were very few entries received and Saturday's weather doesn't look promising for same-day sign-ups. Good luck to those fishing the FLTA tournament on Sunday!

One more thing on the tournament - you can stop in the marina to register if you're in the area or you can call in your information and provide a credit card number.
