I think that something like a two year antler restriction would be good for the first couple years of having a 1 buck limit. Add with it maybe one or two doe permits per hunter for those years to get the doe population back up in some areas. 2 years 3 points on one side then some of those bucks grow bigger. After that shoot what you want but there would be more 2.5 and older bucks around. This way people on both sides of the ball win. "Trophy" guys get larger antlered buck "meat hunters" get to shoot what they want but there will be larger bodied bucks around to shoot. Kind of a complex way of doing it but I think it could make a big difference and keep everyone happy. Sent from my iPhone using Lake Ontario United

If you're short a person or two on getting a team together I might know somebody. -
Any turbo'd vehicle should be run on 93, anything "performance" hell I run my 89 IROC on 93 and I wouldn't consider that to be any type of performer its just better for stuff like that. I run all my small engine stuff on 93 or 91 (snowmobiles, dirt bikes, boats etc) and anything that's going to sit more than its going to be used imo should use top octane and ethanol free gas.

Watch the Salmon Showdown Fishing Show Now !
PeltHunter replied to FishingandHuntingUSA's topic in Open Lake Discussion
Just watched the 2nd episode. When they were introducing the guy from Peele'n Good it showed that they have an Under 24 division for tournament fishing out there. At this point I don't think there is a big enough tournament interest on Lake O for that but it would be cool if possible to scrape up enough guys to have basically an up and comers side of the tournament. Edit- Looks like I'm an idiot and thats for boat sizes. Just figured since the guy looked younger it was an age thing. -
I found one particular paragraph in all three parts of that article that scared me after how good the salmon fishing was in 2012 and 2013 and how terrible it was this year. "The alewife crash started around 2003, but few noticed it at first. The salmon fishing had been as good as ever — record catch rates were recorded just the year before. But it turned out this was not the sign of a healthy salmon fishery. It was a sign the salmon were running out of alewives to eat."

Hey guys getting ready to start gearing up for the next Lake O Salmon season. Just wondering what are some must have flashers and flies that I might not think about when restocking. I have the basics down (mirage, hammer, crinkle, wonder bread, frog, chrome, etc.) just looking for some input on some other good flashers and flies for the Oswego area.

It was definitely a tough year and not the deer numbers I had expected to see. I left for my deployment to McMurdo station before the end of the season which I heard it picked up a little in the end of rifle and into muzzleloader but overall it seemed to be a relatively slow year. That being said I think I saw more mature bucks taken this year than any other which is good for the future of the sport. This thread has been one of the best I've ever been apart of on any forum. It was cool to be able to get everyones own little stories from all different areas and see the success that some had, it was definitely cool to be a part of it.

It is a nice deer for sure. Most of the questioning comes from the fact that people send pictures of deer like this around and the story changes depending on the person that gets the picture. I'm sure everyone remembers the picture of the huge buck that got hit in Beckett Mass a few years ago that went around and all the sudden it was hit in Ontario Center, Marion, Steuben County, Indian Lake and about any other town in the northeast you can think of.

I hear ya JakeyBaby. It's a never ending cycle and none of its cheap lol. I just got a little extra wind in my sail when my buddy from school called me and told me his stepdad invited me to hunt his 220 acres in Ontario Center next season, I'll be going to check it out next weekend. Unfortunately I'm getting deployed the 10th of December to the 26th of January so I'll miss late waterfowl. Perks of going to oswego for school though I'll be back in perfect timing to catch some River steelies. Sent from my iPhone using Lake Ontario United
