  1. The harbor fest stuff was over when we got in so it wasn't about the spot and like I said we just talked to Mike of the Bloodvessel and he finished his charter then came back to us, it was 8pm when it happened. Whoever said two motors that's something me and my uncle have talked about in the past and I think this made our mind up to go in halves on a Baha we've been looking at. 2. Threw some plugs in it and started right up perfect so of course that plug wrench would have been a nice thing to have
  3. We've towed several boats in on lake George and one on Ontario. It's not too hard to go out of your way to help someone avoid probably at least a 500 dollar tow bill from Boat US Sent from my iPhone using Lake Ontario United
  4. Exactly the same with the Bloodvessel he towed us the 4 miles in to the port and wouldn't accept a dime. Then of the other 20 boats in the port not a single one would give us a pull the quarter mile around from the yacht club to the ramp. And yes BoatUSA operates out of there but they couldn't get out till at least 10:30 with the Harborfest fireworks going on.Sent from my iPhone using Lake Ontario United
  5. Went out of Oswego Saturday morning and went one for one with a King for the whole day on a white spinny and hammer fly at about 8am. Fished all day pulled gear at 730 to come in for the Harborfest fireworks. Boat had a vibration when we powered up, backed out of it and through it in reverse to clear out the prop. As soon as the boat went back in forward it died and wouldn't start again. Then it wouldn't turn over at all. Mustve sucked water when we went in reverse lets just pull the plugs and clear it out. Well this new toolkit we bought just for the boat doesn't have a plug wrench. 4 miles from the break wall dead in the water can't see a boat anywhere, call the Coast Guard they put out an all stations advisory for help for us. After about a half hour a boat finally appears on the horizon coming towards us, Captain Mike from the Bloodvessel ended up finishing his charter and giving us a tow back in, can't thank him enough! Got in past the wall and the Coast Guard says they can get us to the dock. Well what they meant by the dock was the dock for the yacht club around the corner from the launch. Well with the 20 boats in the port we can just get a tow over to the Wrights Landing ramp right? Wrong. Every one we asked had some sort of excuse. Ended up pulling the boat around the end of the little Peninsula for the Yacht Club and had to throw the anchor and pull the boat to the ramp dock about 10 feet at a rip. Took the plugs out Last night and sure as **** the sixth cylinder was full of water. Put new plugs in after we cleared it out but haven't been able to try to start it up yet with the bad weather we had today.
  6. Ramp was open with a place for parking in the parking lot for trucks and trailers only we went one for one today so far out front of the stacks at about 8 Sent from my iPhone using Lake Ontario United
  7. Screwey Louies in Fairhaven has a lot of weird parts like that for the older Cannons.
  8. Hey guys I was just up fishing for steelhead at the bridge in Pineville and parked at the launch there. I fished on the other side of the bridge and when I came back someone had stole a $350 Kobalt tool set out of the bed of my truck, with the tailgate closed and tonneau cover on. I usually lock it in the cab whenever I park but the one time I didn't I guess someone thought they needed it more than me. Already talked to the guys at Fat Nancys and a couple of drift boat guys said they'd keep their ears open as well as letting local pawn shops know. I know its a pretty longshot but if anyone in the area could keep their ears open for some jackass bragging about it in a bar up there or something let me know please. Shoot me a PM or call or text 518-810-5990, Paul. Like I said I know its a pretty long shot but if someones low enough to steal peoples stuff they're also probably dumb enough to brag about it after a couple beers.
  9. And any "you'res" used in that post were meant overall not pointed at the OP.
  10. If your paying to go fishing you probably don't know all that much about fishing, thats why you're paying someone to take you. I understand that you're paying maybe 800 for a trip but you aren't going on a charter trip yourself, if you are you're probably a real prick and that explains why you don't want to give a tip, but honestly these captains aren't making a ton of money I've been with a few filling there boats up and they spent 700 bucks just in gas, then you have boat repairs, gear, wages for the mate theres a lot of cost in there so don't **** about the price to begin with. If you have a mate who is outgoing, gets the job done and provides a good day of fishing to you and your buddies I don't see why it would be a big deal to each throw him a 20 or 25 dollar tip they're providing you with a service and experience you probably couldn't provide for yourself and definitely not for $900 for a group of 4. We go on a charter trip every couple of years just to see what people are doing differently and where we could sharpen up and at minimal we all pitch in a couple dollars and give a $100 tip. Someone said above about people only making $300 a week not being able to afford it, well it may sound harsh but theres plenty of species of fish close to home that don't require charters to catch.
  11. Exactly Captains expect you to know everything if and when you get an interview/ a chance to fish with them.
  12. Get ahold of some guys around where you are, I friended some captains on Facebook even and put my name out there, most guys have their mates now but a lot of them will at least take your number in case they need someone in an emergency situation or if their mate needs a day off. Good Luck!
  13. I was fishing off the shore by the Fort last night and saw someone bring in 3 browns in less than an hour trolling right along the break wall with stick baits off the planer boards
  14. I think the docks were pulled up on the launch ramp though.
  15. I'll take a ride down there later on this afternoon and let you know how it looks.
  16. Lake looks really good today some ice packed against the shore but everything else is wide open from Wrights down to the school but I'm not sure if the docks are in at Wrights
  17. 87 Sea Ray Sorrento and I believe its an 89 Thompson 24 Fisherman that belongs to my dads buddy. We pretty much take turns on which boat goes out. And the picture with me in it is just to get a basic idea of our down rigger setup on the sea ray.
  18. Out in front of Oswego today, most open water seen in a while
  19. Not many people running Ice breakers as salmon rigs
  20. I go to school at Oswego pretty much everything for about 250 yards is locked up then open water with a lot of big chucks and the pack starts back up about 3/4 of a mile out.
  21. Thats a cool series there must be a lot of money out there don't see too many people running new 53' Tiara's on Lake O
