  1. ^Like he said I don't think you're going to get into a 27' fishing boat "cheap because the launches are closed" most boats 27 and up are slipped and those guys aren't really affected. Sea-IV I just bought a 10 Meter Trojan out of Cape Cod. Salt boat since new. If your crusaders are FWC you'll see a heat exchanger that looks like a big log at the rear of the engine up high if you can see that area in the pics you have. When I went down there I took a couple batteries and ran everything I could (or that would make me not want to buy a solid hull and 1 good low hour motor for the price) and picked through everything with a fine tooth comb. What I found with my boat is that where the engines and cooling system is what people generally worry about with salt boats but when you dig in further there's a lot of other things to consider. Any type of chrome accessory or trim piece on that boat (unless replaced) will be pitted from the salty air and open wiring connections are going to be corroded, the salt just takes its toll on everything. If I didn't A get the deal I did at my age and B have the time and ability to do the work myself to get this thing cleaned up I think that the money to find a nice clean Great Lakes boat is well worth it. 2. 350 model Crusader 454 I'm looking for. Probably just going to order a long block Sent from my iPhone using Lake Ontario United mobile app
  3. If you come across any old 350hp models in your search let me know. I'll keep my eyes open for XLs Sent from my iPhone using Lake Ontario United
  4. Yea I was surprised what they're going for. They're kind of like pontoon boats they hit a price plateau at some point and kind of just stay there. This boat also has a kicker mount I forgot to add. Sent from my iPhone using Lake Ontario United mobile app

  6. Price is $4000 or best reasonable offer. Sent from my iPhone using Lake Ontario United
  7. Bought a 10 meter Trojan need this gone. Just replaced the lower deck floor and carpet(Cabelas bass boat carpet installed not junk indoor outdoor stuff), the upper casting deck still has the old carpet but is solid. Powered by a 70hp Evinrude VRO that runs good, just rebuilt carbs and replaced everything but the coils in ignition system. Comes with cannon big body bases and swivel mounts as well as a planer board mast with 2 reels and 2 boards (nothing mounted yet) has 2 removable rod holder setups in the gunwales as well as a Humminbird Helix 5 gps/fish finder. Electric anchor winch with anchor. Comes with Bimini top and a full cover. Trailer is in good shape but the tires are starting to crack and should be replaced (spare has no cracks). Best way to get ahold of me is shoot me a text and I'll get back to you when I can 5188105990. Boat is located in Clifton Park about 15 minutes north of Albany. 10. Yea I've heard the jasper horror stories. I looked at Michigan motorz and it seems like they only have mainly newer mercruiser stuff. Sent from my iPhone using Lake Ontario United mobile app
  11. I've kind of estimated it out and I can rebuild the motor plus accessories (alternator, heat exchanger, water and oil pump). For about the average going price of a long block. Yes there are some cheaper but like tradman said you know what you're putting into the motor. Sent from my iPhone using Lake Ontario United
  12. I'm not sure the boat is an 86. Anything I've found says 67-89 were all the same for the 454s if that helps? Sent from my iPhone using Lake Ontario United
  13. Just picked up a 10 meter Express that one of the motors (350hp 454) needs a rebuild or to be replaced. When I get back home I'm going out to pick up the bad motor that's on a pallet currently to get it torn down and see if it's rebuildable (it got hot). If it is I'll go through it with bearings and seals and have the heads/valve train done. If not I'm going to be looking for a long block. I've been doing a lot of looking around for them and have seen prices from 2-7k for a long block. Does anyone know what's a good reputable place to order one or a good place to get one somewhere local for a good price? The starboard had a long block about 100 hours ago along with manifolds and risers that were new last spring with about 20 minutes on them so this is the port (standard rotating) engine. 14. Loose wire on the timer base I believe is the problem (whenever it dies if I push that wire back up it'll start right back up). Going to test it out with a known good timer base and stator tomorrow to confirm. Sent from my iPhone using Lake Ontario United
  15. Mine doesn't cut back it completely kills the motor unless that is what you mean? I'm going to tear into wires and take the flywheel off and look around under there. When I move around the little timing bracket that goes up under the flywheel is usually when I get spark back and that whole thing moves when throttling up so that may be a good place for you to look. 16. Replaced lines before I ever ran it. I thought I added that I guess not Sent from my iPhone using Lake Ontario United
  17. I tried everything for sunglasses before costas (Oakley, ray ban, smith, bollè) and all had different things I didn't like. Tried a pair of costas and I have 4 pairs now 3 plastic 1 glass. I have mirror blue, yellow, amber and mirrored amber. I really like the amber and mirrored amber for fishing all day. As Vince said the mirrored blue is also a really good option but mine in that color are a ray ban style not wrap arounds so they aren't ideal. The two I wear the most often are my Blackfins and Saltbreaks. Haven't got to wear my Blackfins fishing yet as I just got them but I think they're the most comfortable pair I have just from wearing them daily. Also if you live in the Utica area they have a good selection at gander mountain where you can try them on and they're 20 or 30% off with the store closing discounts. 18. Confirmed spark issue thought I had it pegged took it out for a shakedown and it acted up again spread some wires apart and got it running for a while up on plane. Will have to tear into the wiring deeper tomorrow Sent from my iPhone using Lake Ontario United
  19. Found a bad ground on the back of the shift linkage that would cut out once the linkage moved Sent from my iPhone using Lake Ontario United
  20. Timing should just go off the flywheel no? Sent from my iPhone using Lake Ontario United
  21. Both and it cuts out quicker with carb linkage. Is there a nuetral safety on these like the I/Os? I messed with the linkage so thinking maybe that could be it but it was shifting fine Sent from my iPhone using Lake Ontario United
  22. Hey thanks for the info I'm just talking jets in a way I'm used to like a snowmobile or dirt bike. I'll check on the choke thing later on toda Sent from my iPhone using Lake Ontario United
  23. I'm putting carpet in my aluminum boat that I just had to refloor. There seems to be marine grade glue for it and online at least it says Home Depot has it Sent from my iPhone using Lake Ontario United
  24. Hey guys I have a 70hp Evinrude VRO I got on a 90 Sea Nymph I bought for early and late season fishing. I got it running by cleaning the carbs and new plugs. Ran it up yesterday and it ran good but the impeller didn't have great flow so I changed that today. Got it all back together today and it doesn't seem to want to stay running under higher rpms sometimes it'll bog out and die when I hit the little throttle lever on the linkage and sometimes I'll put it in gear and let it run up with the butterfly's barely open and it'll go fine then just quit after about a minute. Not really sure what it could be guessing maybe a fuel issue or intermittent spark but I have nobody here to check spark while I turn it over. Any suggestions? I'm not too familiar with outboards and definitely not familiar with these kind of "jetless" carbs (only a pilot jet it seems. It idles fine once you can get it to start back up which could take 30 seconds to a few minutes. Thanks Paul! Sent from my iPhone using Lake Ontario United mobile app
  25. Same here. Not impressed with the sales at all for a store that's closing. I did get a 4th pair of Costas 20% off lol Sent from my iPhone using Lake Ontario United mobile app
