Wayne.....not much different here to your west. The kings I have caught have been skippies (less than 3-4lbs), one 12lber, and then the three large ones 19, 24 and 25lbs. I think I have put in about 50-55 hrs in the last 2+ weeks and 3 nice kings and 1 teen? REALLY!!!! But the number of lakers, steelies and even a couple of browns.....what can you say. The kings are not schooling in this area yet, but I have to believe its thermocline related. I really believe it will turn on here in the next week or two. I am going to try and work some deeper water this week, away from the lakers in 100'fow and see if i can find some more true king action in that 160-225 fow that I traditionally work in this area. I think i am also gonna start throwing some meat rigs in there for fun! We shall see! Jason -

Okay...went back and counted again and 8 for 11 on the fish. Still the kings seem to be hit and miss in there. Talking to another captain at Pultneyville and he had some guys out (with no entry in summer LOC) and they landed a 26 lb laker! I saw the fish....monster head! Laker or not....that's a pig!

Okay.....complete craziness..... After resetting diver and 4 color. Somehow diver got hit and released and got into the 4 color. So tangle city Of course then the orange crush slider takes a rip and a completely insane Steelie makes tangles in more lines Got Steelie in and 105 rigger takes a rip.....thank god no one home, cause I had lines everywhere! Lol All tangles fixed. Day now ended. I think we finished 2 steelies, 1 brown and 3 lakers I believe. So 6 fish in about 10 hits !!!!

So far 3 for 4. 100 rigger with green protein echip and blue ice fly taken 2 lakers 7 & 12 lbs 200 diver taken now two rips and lost both fish. 60 rigger with a orange crush slider took a small 5 lb Steelie All inside 110' fow

LOC derby format changes poll
reelintense replied to GAMBLER's topic in Tournament Talk, Shows, Events & Seminars
I continue to be frustrated by what appears to be conflicting or contradictory words from the LOC committee. It's about preserving lakers....baloney, because if it was you would not have it in the summer when the tourney runs 6 weeks. I understand the spring needing to keep it, because sometime laker and browns are the most abundant fish! But the real reason, it is apparent, is that a few folks believe its not right that a winner be a lake trout. I am all about the king salmon, but a trout and salmon tourney should be about the largest fish, regardless of species. Laker, brown or steelhead ( if by some miracle)! Secondarily, the fact that people complained about the concentration of winners from fishermen that primarily target lakers and are good at it, is hooey! That's like saying any king caught aboard a charter should be disallowed because their better than me at finding kings. Or all boats can only run 6 lines so that people on a small boat with only two people have a fair shake. Kudos to those that can find large lakers consistently! Come on committee members, largest fish! Period. It doesn't happen often, but when it does, give to Caesar what is Caesar's! -

reelintense replied to GAMBLER's topic in New York Fishing Reports - Lake Ontario (South Shore)
That is awesome Brian. But you know what's gonna happen..... A 36lber....and time for another laker to mount! Ohhhhh.....and it still won't win the grand prize! But worry about that later! Hahahaha Jh
