  1. I second Mark. I use the mag divers with rings on, with a 1 or 1.5 setting to get down and deep closer to the boat, and then run standard 1 divers at a 3 setting on the outside to get away from the boat and stay higher in the water column. The only time this can be an issue is if you have severe currents down deep and you turn the boat to quickly, you have to visualize where that diver and line is, as it crosses your transom with riggers down there. Tangles are almost inevitable at some point.... Just have to work at reducing the frequency. like a lot of these guys, I have mags, size 1 and 2 and slide divers, to cover all depths and distances away from the boat. Play around....
  2. I knew they existed....just was thinking they wanted nothing to do with being east of Braddocks!!!
  3. Awesome Wayne, did your 'first mate' bring his gimble mounted grill and make bratwurst?!?!?!?! hahahaha..... glad you guys got into them, cause our stories were sounding too much alike...no rods moving. Tonight was totally different....but last night was a skunk! Jason
  4. yeah...have to be quick when there are 3 rods and one person! All the slider hits, I just ran to the pole before it released.....and just reeled and set as fast as I could. I did get lucky that all the fish chomped on the lure. These fish tonight were aggressive...hard hits, solid hookups. Totally different than last night!!!!
  5. Eric, They do...they really do. I was beginning to wonder!!! hahahaha
  6. Yahoo....8 for 8 and finally a good sized king off pultneyville... 180 dipsy over 110fow.... A beautiful 24lb king!!!!!!
  7. Yup...another small king....same as before...free slider!
  8. Yeah....lots of lakers right now all around! Easy pickins....although I am waiting for more of the kings to show up!!!!!!! And definitely a lot of debris out here as well! Good job on slaughtering the fish!
  9. Make that 6-6....another small king on the free slider orange crush 55 down over 111'fow
  10. Went out last night 6-17 for a 3 hour solo evening trip and worked the 120-140 fow range.....although I did nose out briefly to 165 and then finished working the 100-110 fow, I got squat! First skunk of the year. Had a couple swings and misses.... Was running my normal mag diver with a white pearl glow SD and blue hammer fly...set back 200' and a 90-100' rigger with a green pro-troll echip flasher and blue ice fly and then a 60-75' foot rigger with a Yellow NBK and then an double orange crush free slider! Tonight I ran the same darn set ups and so far I am 5 for 5 with 3 small kings on the Yellow NBK or orange crush slider. And I have taken 2 lake trout, both about 14-15lbs, one on the diver set back 180' and the other on the 90' rigger with the FF set up. Speeds are the same 2.3-2.7, have not trolled too slow, and working specifically 100-120 fow where there is the most bait and marks so far! Only 6:47 now, so still got a couple more hrs to put in! Will update again later! ~Jay
  11. didnt post Saturday night, because it was late and it wasnt much to post....but same here in Pultneyville. Caught 2 lakers and one small king.....lost another 3 fish....I assume lakers, by head shake. All fish in that 110-130' of water and flasher/fly hits, except the small king on a yellow NBK. For 5 hrs of trolling, it was bad. Did slip out to 230 foot, but didnt venture any further on this trip. Tough water to fish right now. Temps 70-80 foot down were still 49-50 degrees. Found some 45 degree water between 80-90 foot down, over the deeper water, just didnt want to troll much further north at that point, but I have to believe kings must be off shore, since i am not hearing reports they are close. Jay
  12. Nice lakers.....and it is always good that we can slow down and find them when kings and steelies are nowhere to be found! Those are some very nice lakers!!!!!!
  13. Definitely frustrating Darren....but lots of good information came from all the reports and posts and conversations with Capt's. Hope if it happened again would know more what to try for a program. On a side note, good to meet you at the Black North on Saturday. Tight Lines! Jason
  14. Brian.....good job in what was terrible conditions to fish this weekend. As you already know it was hard for EVERYONE...!! And had that fuel line pick up issue last year....worked fine at really low rpm's but would stall when you tried to open it up. Worried it was more than what it was....which was an anti-siphon valve that needed to be replaced. Go figure
  15. Hey....awesome fish! You should mount it! I mean get it stuffed and put on your wall!
  16. Wow.....awesome fish!!!!! So great to see the big chromers have moved into our area!!!!
  17. I think we have all fished those marks and wondered WTH..... Makes you think twice about fishing the screen, versus fishing the down temps and what your gut tells you with "hooks" vs "marks"... and cotton and flies will be gone!
  18. Well I can sleep better now......thanks for the research and report!
  19. Kyle, That is awesome, always good to get the first king of the year. Nice having the bigger boat to even attempt at getting out on the lake when there is wind. I am sure you're enjoying it. And don't worry one of these days you will get out for the morning bite…
  20. Awesome Wayne.....cant wait to see her at the Salmon Slam! Nice 'upgrade'....
  21. Great job Brian.......that is saweeet king!!!!
  22. Rick of Yankee Troller and Dick of Landing Zone.....AWESOME job guys!!!! Dick, wondered where your boat was at the club.....now I know!!!
  23. Awesome report and job. Funny how 10 miles east of you, where I was, was a totally different bite. Pretty much all divers.....and one rigger. Ya need to see the laker we got! Almost beat the king of yours. What a great fish....wish I could have found a couple kings! jay
  24. I had to give up on any top lines with leadcore.... Threw out more dipsy's, long lead divers with spoons to try and cover top 30 feet of water… And they never took a shot. I focused all spoons and FF down under 70' today and only the deep stuff took hits. Fishing was very concentrated in 100-130fow and a flury of 4fish came in 125' fow in a span of 30 mins.
