  1. very cool! and nice boat!
  2. Those are both great thoughts....I will check to make sure those plugs are in. If its not i figure I have to get it back in the water again to find where it's coming from. I decided to partially flood the hull and see if it was coming out anywhere. No go! I will check plugs later! Lets hope...
  3. Awesome Mike....take your time, I am not sure when Spring or Summer will get here! I got out yesterday for a couple of hrs, and was so happy to have a bigger boat and a hard-top! Good Luck and have fun!!!
  4. http://rochester.craigslist.org/boa/3726901052.html to make it easier. Nice boat, and easily could have takers on this website, but suggestion to put a little more meat in either the CL listing or on here. We would all have a ton of questions on electronics and equipment. just my two cents!
  5. that is one sweet trip and what makes near shore fishing in the spring so much fun. Lots of different fish in the same shallow water! AWESOME!!!!!
  6. Shakedown cruise on the new boat!!! Was so excited I could hardly sleep the night before. We got out at 6:30 and although wind from the south was whipping, inside of 15fow was easily manageable. Outside 20 fow and it was just harder to keep course correcting, but still it was not a bad day. Except the south wind blew any colored water away. It was clear water, 43-45 degrees from Bear Creek to Ginna. We caught two browns. 3# and 7#..., lost one and had 2-3 more releases no one home. Called it quits at 11am and found the engine compartment was mostly flooded!?!?! Boot Seal? Something else? Havent found an issue so far. The engine ran fine, but funny how the boat doesnt plane well with that much water in the hull! Got back to port and the electric winch failed.... so that is kind of how my day ended...but was still glad to get on the water for a few hours with a couple of great guys and fish, drink and smack talk again! Now to find some sun and warm weather! Geesh!!!!
  7. Apple Boy.....the one you got last year was one I had kind of looked at as well. Took me a good portion of the winter to find exactly what I wanted, but i did and cant wait. Boat gets splashdown Friday morning, for a couple of hrs of near shore brown action. Hoping the south winds are okay to allow that!
  8. I will be there Friday. Great job and thanks for the post!!!!
  9. Near shore forecast for Thursday and Friday mornings are less than 2 foot, thanks to the south wind...and with temps getting near 65-70, I am thinking of doing my own splash down on Friday. Considering your boat is bigger....you should be fine to poke around for some browns! Wind and thunderstorms are supposed to roll later in the afternoon Friday.....about time for my son's already re-scheduled baseball game. Any bets it gets cancelled again??
  10. Thanks guys.....I have been working on it all weekend and afterwork yesterday. Normal cleaning and organizing it "my way"...etc. Hopefully can get out later this week for the shakedown cruise and getting to know the boat, before the LOC starts!
  11. Awesome.....totally hoping to get out Friday or Saturday! Browns awesome....kings moving in, even better!!!!!
  12. Nothing But Net........ but second Penalty Box! (Tom...you are too funny)
  13. Yup....never fails! But plenty of time to get her "figured out" before fishing really heats up!
  14. Saaaaweet!!!!! That is great some kings are in the area already!!! Cant wait to fish this weekend I hope!
  15. Well I sold the 19 foot grady, after I determined that I could get even more days of fishing in if... A) had a bigger boat B) had autopilot so I could rig and "steer" at the same time C) had a hardtop to stay warm and dry on 'those' days.... So here is the new 'used' 1995 Penn Yan 225 Outrage I finally took delivery on this weekend. I am so excited. No more manual downriggers ..... has a new Lowrance HDS7 and a fish hawk, which i sorely needed, the autopilot, outriggers, planer reels, and most of all a porta-a-potty for my daughter. And I suspect it will handle a little more wave action than my grady did and that was actually a decent boat for its size! Now to start really fishing! Hello warmer weather!!!! Jay
  16. Awesome man.....way to go. Boat should be in the water on Saturday. Can't wait!!!
  17. Bear Creek is where I launch from. The parks and rec's office is just off Knickerbocker Road in Casey Park, about 1/2 mile north of Route 104. Bear Creek is about half way between Knickerbocker and Furnace...about 1.5 miles east of the Ginna Nuclear plant. I have a resident season pass, but you can pick up non-resident and one day passes. But your not going to do that at 6-7 am if you go out early. Call # 315-524-7447 to ask questions on how to get a pass, hrs, online..etc. They do check in the parking lot (which for trailers is across the street, south side of Lake Road) but more so on weekends and during warmer season. You may not have an issue right now, but that is an opinion! As for the water level, the BIGGEST concern is keeping your prop way up, just into the water, and staying a little to the pier side of the channel. The launch ramp is shallow and its pretty sandy just behind the ramp and for 3/4 of the way out of the channel...BUT there are some very big submerged rocks along the east side of the channel, your starboard side as you go out. The actual rocks are not the visible ones you can see at the end of the pier, jutting out into the lake, but are actually in what you might call the middle of the channel or mouth to bear creek. If the channel is 150 foot across, you want to stay within 30 feet of the pier to your left, as you go out and DONT, i repeat DONT try and go onto plane until your in 5-7 foot of water, a good 100 feet or more past the pier head. The worse rocks would be to your right, about 50 feet past the mouth. I have learned the hard way, where they are. Go slow, prop up and patient until water is deep enough. Also, if you troll out to Ginna, be sure you watch for the 1000 yard STAY AWAY ZONE. It is marked with about a dozen white bouys that make a rectangle out into the lake to keep people from getting to close. You do not want the coast guard charging you down and i have seen it happen. Best to know where that zone is, and be sure to follow. Tight line and if all goes well, i will be back out there April 13-14th..... Jason
  18. Yeah.....I have seen longer perch....but never fatter! Did you take a measurement of the girth??? WOW.....
  19. Tom, I was down at Bear Creek this weekend and you could easily launch there. The dock isn't in, but the debris is all cleaned up and you can use the break wall as your dock....that's what I do. I also think the one ramp in pultneyville might be open. Not at the PYC...but at the restaurant.
  20. come on guys.....quit monkey'n around and lets share the little thing. So cute!!!!!! But yeah........ NO BANANAS!
  21. WOW........that is awesome!!!!!!!!!!!! Great Job Steve!

  23. Wow is right, Rick.....those are beautiful browns! Totally jealous and cant wait to get the boat out!
