Yeah....steelhead action around here is the best i have seen in 10years. Amazingly enough I took a decent 7lb steelhead yesterday on a dispy green SD, glow hammer fly...set back 300 foot on a #2 setting. Was not expecting steelhead that far down, when over the last two weeks, they have all been slider bites and leadcore in that top ~40foot or so of the water column. But Definately Great job Wayne on the steelies.......best eating fish....and most fun when they are dancing! Jason

Mark, I probably saw you at some point...I liked the east troll and was just short of making it to Hughes at one point. Alot of boats were trolling from Ginna to Pultneyville from what I could see, along that 180depth line. and YEAH definately need that subroll. I have been fishing for years with a buddy that has one and when I got my boat last summer, too much money went into all that other stuff....like riggers, rods and tackle. Yesterday I knew I needed it when I started trolling south and my lines were going west. Just had no clue how fast to go....hit about 3.3+ a few times and was just skiddish about going faster. But I think my hits (and hookups) would have been higher if I had a clue what was going on 100feet down. Nice king BTW.....always fun a big fish on the slider and rigger line. All our big kings this year have been diver rods or leadcore...been waiting for a screamer on my rigger....totally different feel! Hope to see you out there.....I'm on Channel 9 most times. Jason -

yeah.....put my money into a kicker motor this year, but over the winter.....its a probe for sure!!! Went out again this afternoon with the girlfriend, before the wind and rain came thru.....got a few browns in 80fow...before the lake got too snotty to fish. The currents were still pretty bad, but did seem a little less. -

Boat Depth: 175-210 Lure Depth: 275-300 of diver and 70 & 100 fow on riggers ==================== SUMMARY & FURTHER DETAILS ==================== Today made me realize how bad I need a downspeed reading and temp. Just havent invested in one yet...but the currents were insane. I was all over the place on speed over ground. running 3.0+ and you can tell your lines are not pulling that hard, cause the current down below is at your back. other times your running 2.1 and the lines are pulling like mad, as you go into the current. I did notice the best trolls were south or east....west and north were not really getting hits. Dispy were hit hard first 90 minutes, then went dead and the riggers started to go after 9am. Nothing big to write home about, but nice to be on the water. Sea fleas were still there, but finally swithed to the 30lb big game on the riggers and that helped. Divers were loaded though!!! Anyways.....hope everyone had a good morning!!!!

FAIR HAVEN - WHAT A FISH
reelintense replied to bout time's topic in New York Fishing Reports - Lake Ontario (South Shore)
that is a gorgeous king.....!!!!! And taking a wire diver to 700+ feet is awesome. Can you imagine if it hit the rigger line. Few years ago we had a slightly smaller king rip the rigger and we literally had to clear ALL lines and turn boat around to chase him down. 1000 foot of mono behind the boat was insane....we probably had 10 wraps left on the spool. Great job! -
Well I will be out there this weekend at somepoint. I totally understand what you mean on the bite between the weekend of june 8-10th when it was hard to keep a rod in the water and doubles were frequent....to last weekend 15-17 when the NE blow did what it always does and shuts down the fishing. Not that you don't get fish here and there, but the bite changes totally. As for waves, not sure if you look at the NOAA sites or not...but its looking pretty good for the weekend. Winds will be calming down later tonight/tomorrow, but there maybe rollers left for a little bit tomorrow. Sunday it might get choppy again, but sometimes off shore wind is less, as the temps of the lake keep it from getting too whipped up. Overall I think you will be fine. http://forecast.weather.gov/MapClick.ph ... 063&zflg=1 I think the bite will be okay to good this weekend. I think the fish will more active after this last front came across overnight and knocked the temps down a bit. There are no full moons, so no overnight feeding that will fill their belly's, so i am thinking early morning bite will be good. SEA FLEAS however seem to be a huge issue, so pull your lines frequently to clean, especially if your using cheaters or sliders. Good luck!!!! J

nice job Dale...... I got out on the water around 5 at Bear Creek, set up in 70fow and put out the spread...had my girlfriend with me, so six lines and trolled out to 200 fow and nothing. No hits, no bumps, blank screen for the most part. Saw the temp break you are talking about at that 140-150 mark....was coming back in and turned around to see that storm approaching. Pulled lines and ran back, with a couple cracks of thunder in my ear. Luckily that was it, but first time out this year I got skunked, although I think we were only on the water about 90 minutes with lines set! Glad you and your friend got something. That is a beauty of a king! Jason

Fishing Report Your Name / Boat Name: OuttaLine ============== TRIP OVERVIEW ============== Date(s): 6/16/12 Time on Water: 3.5-4.0hrs (afternoon/evening) Weather/Temp: 80's and Sunny Wind Speed/Direction: NE, less than 10 Waves: 1-2 Surface Temp: 61-62 Location: Northwest of Bear Creek LAT/LONG (GPS Cords): =============== FISHING RESULTS =============== Total Hits: 7 Total Boated: 5 Species Breakdown: 3 Lakers, 1 King, 1 Steelie Hot Lure: Spindoctor's white nuclear and green glow, pulling a green glow fly and white glow fly Trolling Speed: 2.2-2.9 Down Speed: Boat Depth: 110-240 Lure Depth: 70' & 50' riggers, and 240' & 280' on wire divers ==================== SUMMARY & FURTHER DETAILS ==================== SLOW day, but beautiful weather. Went out in the afternoon around 3:30 and set up in 140 fow and headed north. Not sure what the NE blow the last two days was going to do to the fish, as all week it seemed the hot depth was 170-210 fow. Trolled out to 250 fow and not a hit or bump. Varied speed from 2.2 to 2.9, but nothing. Made the turn and started back in and at 230fow the first hit on the deep diver came. Small king about 5lbs, but made my daughter's day. We circled back and picked up a laker in 220fow on the other diver, then nothing again. Decided to head in shallow and we picked up two more lakers (one about 8lbs) on the divers and finally got one rigger bite (deep rigger) which was the 5lb steelie. Had a couple miss hits on the divers, but nothing else on riggers, slider lines, 6 color lead core or small, long lead dipsy. All the fish were 60-70foot down on rigger or the dipsy. Changed lures a couple of times....SEA FLEAS are driving me nuts! Happy Father's day to all! Jason

Fishing Report Your Name / Boat Name: Outtaline ============== TRIP OVERVIEW ============== Date(s): 6-15-12 Time on Water: 4 hrs 10am-2pm Weather/Temp: sunny, 70's Wind Speed/Direction: NE 10+ Waves: 1-2 chop Surface Temp: 61 Location: northwest of bear creek LAT/LONG (GPS Cords): =============== FISHING RESULTS =============== Total Hits: 7-8 Total Boated: 3 Species Breakdown:2 - Steelies, 1 - King Hot Lure: all took hits...wasn't really one color. Trolling Speed: 2.2-2.9 Down Speed: Boat Depth: 170-225 fow Lure Depth: 50 & 70 riggers, 225 and 275 on divers ==================== SUMMARY & FURTHER DETAILS ==================== Got a late start due to dentist and it was slow out there. Didnt get the first hit til after 11am...then a 6 lb steelie on a Kevorkian, followed by a short hit on the diver, then another 6lb steelie on the slider pulling a bloody frog. Then quiet again for a while. A couple shots on the deep rigger, another diver bump that was there 5-10 seconds and gone. Could have been speed, as I was slower going into the waves....but a few minutes before we were going to get ready to pull lines, the deep diver set at 275 (#2 setting) pulling a green glow spin doctor and white glow hammer fly, started screaming line and I knew it was a large king when i handed the pole to my cousin Adam. This was his first time down rigging and first King, so I knew it was game on. Took the wire in 60 seconds to about 500 feet, before slowing down and turning around. About 25 mintues later and several other nice runs, we did manage to get it into the boat, weighed, picture and returned to fight another day. Needless to say it put a huge smile on his face, which in turn makes me smile. Sometimes as much fun as catching is watching someone else experience it!!!!! All in all not a blistering day of fish, but better than work and well worth the time!!!! (sorry its sideways.....not sure how to correct that???)

Fishing Report Your Name / Boat Name: OuttaLine ============== TRIP OVERVIEW ============== Date(s):6/11 Time on Water: 4:15-8:15 Weather/Temp: 80's, overcast Wind Speed/Direction: 10mph S/SW Waves: less than 2 Surface Temp: 60-62 Location: North of Bear Creek LAT/LONG (GPS Cords): =============== FISHING RESULTS =============== Total Hits: 8 Total Boated: 6 Species Breakdown: 4 kings - 2 Lakers Hot Lure: NK Kevorkian, White/glow SD, green hammer fly, Dolphin, Monkey Puke Trolling Speed: 2.5-2.8 (did not like the slower speeds) Down Speed: Boat Depth: 160-210 (hot depth was 190-200 band) Lure Depth: riggers 55 & 80, Dipsy was 200' 2.5 setting ==================== SUMMARY & FURTHER DETAILS ==================== Like Woody, I had to venture out solo tonight.....got launched by 4 and was set up by 4:15......First diver went by 4:30......6lb Laker.....while he was half way to the boat....as I was on the phone talking to the GF...BAM....rigger fires.....7 lb king....which to chose. Took the king....figured I could drag the laker for a while!!!! Both got in the boat and back out okay... Got everything re-set...Called the GF back, since i had to kind of hang up....talking with her....Dipsy goes again.....now I got her on speaker phone and what feels like a nice laker.....POP....there goes my spin doctor and fly, but at least still had my diver and snubber. So I figure let me continue talking...and there goes the rigger screaming......Fish starts charging the boat......have no idea if he is under the starboard side rigger or over it. Comes to the surface and I figure I'm okay...but no...charges the darn boat and around the rigger cable he goes....with the slider in tow behind him I am sure and POP....second fish gone....along with two spoons....or so i thought!!!!! I re-rig everything...all back in the water and boom goes the port side rigger again and up comes a nice 8 lb laker for 80 foot down. Next the starboard rigger goes and in comes a nice 10 lb king....and when I brought my ball up....there, still hooked on the cable was my slider spoon, complete with line. So that was a very welcome surprise!!!! This all happened by 5:45...then it went dead for a little over an hour. Then just after 7.....got a couple more small kings....2-3 lb skipper and another very nice 10lb king that really took a bunch of line out and at first thought might have been a bigger fish. He was aggressive and you just love them when they are like this! All in all the waves were not bad...troll direction did not seem to matter, but speed did. Just glad to end my day with a couple of hours and some fish!!!!! Tight Lines yawl!!!! J

Fishing Report Your Name / Boat Name: OuttaLine ============== TRIP OVERVIEW ============== Date(s): 6/10 Time on Water: 2:30pm-6:30pm Weather/Temp: Hot/Sunny Wind Speed/Direction: What Wind? Waves: What Waves? Surface Temp: 64 Location: North from Bear Creek LAT/LONG (GPS Cords): =============== FISHING RESULTS =============== Total Hits: 5 Total Boated: 3 Species Breakdown: 2 kings, 1 Steelie Hot Lure: Divers.....w/Spin Doctors and Fly Trolling Speed: 2.5 Down Speed: Boat Depth: 160-210 Lure Depth: 225' back on the wire divers, 60' & 80' on the riggers ==================== SUMMARY & FURTHER DETAILS ==================== Heard it was a great weekend out on the lake, but could't get out til mid afternoon today. Had the girlfriend in the boat for her first ever adventure in downrigging.....First fish took the diver 225' back on a 2.5 setting...Mountain Dew SD with blue hammer fly. One very tired GF later, she had her 18 lb king salmon in the back of the boat. The other diver hit while she was "playing" with her fish and had one on for a minute, before dropping it. That was a white/glow SD with a green fly. That diver was set 225' back on a 2.0 setting. It took another king a little while later...8lb'r which gave her another nice fight. In between had 1 - 7lb Steelie hit a NK Blue Dolphin set on a long lead small diver about 150 foot back. Before i could grab the rod, the steelhead started putting on a wonderfully acrobatic/ariel display for a good 3-4 minutes before totally tiring himself out. (He made for a great dinner ) The riggers were quiet all day, til one hit around 6pm. Lost the fish when it hit the surface, but appeared to be a steelie that took a wonderbread stinger on the slider line, but it broke the line and now we need to head to the store for more wonderbread!! ALL IN ALL A GREAT DAY TO JUST BE ON THE WATER!!!!!
