No, u need a permit. Resident permits are cheaper....but non residents can get a day pass or even a season pass. Just more expensive. The parks and rec office is in a building in Casey Park off Knickerbocker Road. -

If you don't have a temp probe to find thermocline, then I would say yes...150' is good and head north/northwest and set riggers in that 80-110' down and dipsy's back 250'-300' on a 2 setting and work the screen. The other day temp was down about 90'...but a few days before that it was 70-80'. Fish the screen and as you head north into more stable water the fish could be slightly deeper. See how many hooks come in from down low. When I fished on Sunday...best water was 190-215'fow... But there was also good fish out 350-500' if ur adventurous. Good luck -

see....you dont need a first mate! -
Well chaos was that last 30 minutes. Took a great rip on 110 deep rigger over 40o fow with a green SD and green ITO fly. Lost it, after it tangled in the port side diver. Was getting all sorted out when 95 rigger got slammed by an 8lb Steelie that went ballistic. Somewhere in the melee.:: snapped the handle on my diver rod. Ugh....but more good eating fish to account for it! Trolling back in now....will try inside waters a few mins before quitting!

Started out in 160' and my son and I set 3 riggers 80, 100, 120 and 3 wires 225, 250 and 300. Screen got good in 190 and we got into first king in 210' fow on the free slider with mixed veggie spoon on 100' rigger. A very mature and darkening 24lb female king. Just lost a rip on the 250' mag diver with white SD and blue hammer fly! And so our morning begins!

GO DEEPER! Like 350-500 fow and target same depth 90 - 120 down. Not an easy task if its not fairly calm out for ya. if not, stay in that 165-200 fow and there are kings mixed in there, just keep working the lines east west as you move in and out of those depths. White Pearl Glow Spin Doctor with a blue fly (i use the Atomik Blue hammer) on a MAG dipsy set at 1.5' works best for me. The ratio is about 2/1 so i let out 220-240' and get the set up down about 110-120'. If you see deeper hooks, let more line out. I go at most 300' back on a mag diver...but thats me. Tight Lines. Ditto Ditto to everyone's posts.... Nick and Theresa (and I know it was mostly Theresa ) thanks again for a wonderful event. Nick, next year you really need to plan for better weather, i.e. less wind. Cause too many vets i think went green. Crumcake (John) send me your email address, i have a couple pics i can forward to you. Awesome win for you guys....which goes to show size of your boat doesnt matter, its the action of the lures that count!!!! If anyone else has a 20lb shark weight, they want to donate to the Wayne Stoutner Green Dolphin 2 Charity, please let me know. I am sure it will go to good use (at the bottom of Lake O) within a short period of time. Tim and Jeff, congrats on some amazing fish and one heck of a box both Friday and Saturday. Wish I could have made it out to the rich waters you were fishing!!! Cant wait to next year. Nick got his Frabill net (and so did i ) so time to dream of what will be in store next August. Tight lines all Jason

Fuel issues are so frustrating. Had them on the outboard I had on my Grady....like anti-siphon valve. All stupid stuff. i gotta call John and Ben, and yourself and see if i can get you guys out for some fishing. John, I followed you into port on Tuesday, I was wondering who Blue Dolphin was...never put two and two together. We should chat sometime about bass fishing as well, because the kids have been wanting some smallies as well, and its been a while for me as well. Nick, I credit half credit for the fish they catch....but i get FULL credit for the ones they lose! What was fun about the evening was that the 3 footers that had whipped up, seemed paltry in comparison to the Pro-Am, that I was almost laughing at it. Being my first year on the boat, I am still learning what it can or cant do. It was fine out there in that water.....now if my son could just land him the fish I hand him, instead of hearing it was my fault for setting the hook wrong!! -

Hardee harhar.... Yeah, I didn't have a 10 color left in the water at that point to hook it into! As you already know...Josh is a ham! J -
Decided to take my son and I out for a short 3hr trip, ahead of the cold front and see if we could mustard anything up. Got out on the water about 5:45 and had a small overheating issue on the engine. After shutting it down, taking a swim to check intakes, and firing it back up and the engine temp coming back down from 170 to 120-130ish, I concluded it must have picked up some debris and was now gone....so all good. We set up in 150’ fow and headed north to 235’ and it was basically blank screen. Ran riggers 80’ & 100’, two divers 180’ and 240’ back and a 4 color and 10 color for steelies. Since my temp probe is lying on the bottom Lake O, I had no down temps and speeds, so i was gonna fish the screen and judge speeds by blowback. I saw two small bait pods and one hook, and since the wind had started to pick up and I didn’t want to adventure any further offshore at that time of night, and with an engine I was still being mindful of, so we turned and decided to troll in and I was going to either grab lakers or change over to a brown program. Good call. Got into 120’fow and picked up a 7lb laker on the dipsy White Pearl glow SD/ Blue Hammer Fly. Trolled into 100 fow and I changed over my two riggers to all Stinger sized spoons and cheaters. NBK, Yellow NBK, Frog, and a silver spoon with yellow and over laid green ladderback. Don’t know the name of the spoon. Anyways set riggers at 80 and 65….and we then took a small brown on the slider, which did manage to shake me about 10’ behind the boat. Took another small brown on the main line down 65’ and then took a rip on the 4 color with fire frog spoon, but was gone in ~10 seconds. Waves were rolling 3’ by then, and sun was setting, so we started to pull one line at a time when the 80 rigger took a rip. I grapped it, set the hook and handed to Josh what I assumed would be a brown. I felt a decent initial tug, but after handing him the rod and stepping back….the reel started to scream. I looked at him and asked him if he backed the drag off and he said …. NO. That’s when I knew the fish had laced up and this was a better fish than I originally guessed. Took him from 70' to 140’ of line on that run pretty easily. Josh did some give and take on him for a couple of minutes. It made another run and I saw Josh back down on the drag a little bit, once it finished running. But then it started to charge the boat….made a splash (not a jump) on the surface, turned sideways and was G O N E…gone! But Josh being who he was, handed me the pole and said…..you lost it, with a smile. What a kid that can take a loss like that and laugh. Dont know what it ultimately was...given the warm inside waters and we were in 85fow, I have to believe it was a nice 10+lb brown. Well, thats our story and were sticking to it. To top it off as we came in, the sunset was brilliant colors of red and orange! Tight lines.... Jason

Woohoo.....that is awesome that its back to live another day. It is sometimes so hard to actually keep a fish that big, almost as hard as letting it go! -

All i can say is that it was a wild ride. Crum/Dipsy Ranger great job in an otherwise insane conditions. I have a 23' penn yan and would not have wanted to be out in that, unless I had a VERY experienced crew. I couldnt believe when i saw you guys out there on Sunday. THANK GOD for Wayne Stoutner and his boat, cause that made everything a little (okay alot) easier! Nick you would have been a welcome addition.....especially after wayne laid down for alike a 2 hr nap! but who am I to tell..... Just ask Ellie for the pictures! Now for the Salmon Slam and it BETTER be good weather Mr. Tournament President..... LOL Jay -
And helps you won the 700 copper!!!!!! :) That makes getting tossed around for a couple of days easier!!! lol Jay Great Event...... Cant wait to next year!!!!!!!

NICE Chris.........not a bad evening of fishing. Too bad you couldnt get that steelie weighed, I am assuming! The wave conditions came down alot from the 6-8's + that were rolling out there in the morning yesterday. It was insane at Sodus for the Pro-Am, and many were surprised they didnt call it for the amateurs. I got VERY lucky to be out with Wayne Stoutner and his wife Ellie on their 11 meter Trojan. WOW that is a great boat to fish out of, but even nicer on days like yesterday. i wouldnt have left the harbor with my Penn Yan! HAHAHAHAHAHA
