See I just have a different mentality. Sure if I have never been to an area before I will ask things like directions what the shore line is like things like that. I guess there is just a difference between fishing and catching to me.. you read some people in the report sections and they want precise locations, FOW, rigger depth, color spoon to run and so on And so what if they do, that's how beginners learn the ropes. Nothing breeds continued interest like success and likewise, there is nothing more discouraging than going out not knowing what to do, struggling and pitching a skunk when everybody else is filling the boat. Like I said, this isn't Salmon Crazy and we aren't fishing the tressle on that disgraceful circus freak that is the Salmon River. This is a very big lake and there's room enough for everyone to be successful. Tim try fishing the harbor in oswego with 45 other boats there and people putting their boards 150 feet... the mentality and attitudes are similar

like I said in the post in this thread.. I have gained a lot of knowledge and asked my fair share of questions on here.. You wont see me asking the gps position of where the fish just kind of takes the fun out of it

thats great advise right there

but as somebody who spends hundreds of hours on the water and thousands on electronics and have honed your craft you dont mind people just giving up all the information to people who dont do any homework or trial and error...

Oswego

my report from yesterday is very similar -
cayuga has been so tough this year

No offense but your home port is olcott. You have this every yr. East end fisherman don't. We actually have to know how to fish to catch them [ Post made via Android ] That is quite possibly, the stupidest statement I've ever seen on this site. Ignorance, with just a touch of arrogance, nice combination. Well done sir, well done I laughed

no doubt but that doesnt have anything to do with it getting spread about like wild fire I agree with troubles. Its kind of rude to flame the OP. Who exactly are you guys wanting to keep in the dark? You are proposing we try to make good fishing on LO a secret? If you don't believe in sharing fishing info, why are you a member of this forum? Oh, to get info and tips? hmmm I think most people give and take on here as far as advise but the boat traffic at oswego was nuts this weekend.... no doubt posting results online has an impact on that..... lake O is a great fishery, but increasing traffic does negatively impact results On the other hand I am friends with a charter captain and the more publicity on results the better for them so...

pretty simple... go out,, fine the color and temp breaks and play the lines...... boards and riggers
-
exactly

That was my thing... to make a little money this guy is putting his entire life on the line.... Some scam artist could hired him and chop his finger off and take everything from this guy and use that add directly against him

bandrus1 replied to FISHBANDIT's topic in Open Lake Discussion
I have 0 problem asking people I take.... I am 28 and have put about 20K into my boat and fishing gear in the last year..... it aint a charity -
not really happy at the moment I bought a new 90hp etec last aug and I love a lot about the motor but there have been some issues.. From the first time we ran it, after about 6 hrs of trolling it likes to get a bit of a hiccup... I figure 2 stroke, long time trolling just wants to run.. so I pick up go full tilt for 5 mins to clear it out and bam back to as good as new... We on Sat on Cayuga after trolling 4 hours and ending the day I punch it to run back and it dies... flat out dead and I need to get towed by a friend who was running a charter... So I pull the 1 plug I can get to because the other 3 are buried and it is black as night.. I mean toasted.... I clean it off and it starts right up.. These things are not suppose to have any plug work or shop work for 3 years... it has only been about 9 months What is the problem here
