  1. The ever elusive I-Bay large spotted long nose brown trout
  2. Way to go Anthony. It was great fishing with you at the Sandy Creek Shootout this year. Maybe see ya next year.
  3. Good deal. See you out there next season then.
  4. Hans, if you end up selling it, mine should be back in the water next season. I always have room. You can sell the boat but you can't get rid of the itch. For anyone looking, this boat is sweet!
  5. The marinas on the bay need to secure their docks with gates like Shumway's does. I got the angler's package with my insurance with $5,000.00 in gear coverage because I knew the probability of getting ripped off at some point on I-Bay was enough to justify it. Already happened to me once. The added bonus was getting all my damaged gear covered in July when I suffered fire damage. Boat US insurance, covered all the gear I claimed no questions asked. That insurance is the only way I slept at night.
  6. Thanks Brian. I guess we won't be winning the Shootout this year either.
  7. I talked to them. They said they don't do boat stuff too much but he did say to call him when I find out how it is going to work out with the insurance company. I'm hoping the insurance company doesn't try to work me over but if they do I'll utilize the NFA. Thanks for that info to begin with.
  8. Not much for updates. Talked to Irondequoit police and I knew way more than they did. Like the name of the marina's owner and the fact that there was video. i think they are only getting info from the fire investigator. The fire investigator sounds like he is at an inconclusive conclusion, can't say if it was fireworks or an electrical problem on the boat next to me for sure. I'm just trying to gather estimates for the insurance company. If anyone knows someone who will come to marina to do estimate that would be great. They don't want me to pull boat yet but everyone wants me to bring boat to them for estimates. Looks like about $2,000.00 in fishing equipment toasted, but it is insured. Hopefully it will all work out.
  9. With the mono I find that holding a section a flea covered line between your hands tightly and using your thumb or forefinger to snap or pluck the line sharply will clear them off.
  10. I was at the marina yesterday when they were pulling the video. I did not see it all but there is a clip of some fireworks being launched from a boat in a slip at one end of the marina. Shortly after there is video of the fire breaking out on my dock. There is also a head shot captured of the owner/passenger of the boat launching fireworks. The breeze that night was moving in the proper direction to push the fireworks towards my dock. I'm sure a little investigation will reveal whether electrical problems of some sort or fireworks caused the fire. I'm just waiting to see how it plays out. The bottom line is these people probably don't have insurance and if they did the insurance company probably won't cover their asses on an event like this. So either my insurance company will cover or I will have to sue the boat owner. I'm guessing suing the boat owner will yield nothing though. Sutter's has always treated me very well and I am sure they will do their utmost to get this ironed out. The loose irony of it all is that the jackasses were in my old slip from 5 years ago. I moved out of it when I got this boat because it was too shallow. I think the salmon pooled their money and hired this guy.
  11. Not yet.
  12. Looking at the pictures, I think I'm lucky I left my back canvas curtains out due to the hot weather lately. They probably would have caught and torched the rest of the boat. Sick to my stomach right now either way.
  13. So this is what happens when some ************ thinks launching fireworks in a marina full off gas tanks and canvas is a smart idea. The boat next to me is still at the bottom and the one next to that has already been pulled up. Mine just looks like a marshmallow at a camp out. Just did bellows. gimball bearing and brand new lower gear case, which isn't even broken in yet. Done for season and maybe for good. WTF!
  14. Well the verdict is in. Apparently my lower housing on the stern drive corroded between the exhaust and water jackets. I was pushing exhaust into the incoming water. Took out my brand new water pump too. Hopefully fixed and back in water by next week sometime. Just figured I would update in case someone ran into similar problem.
  15. I think I've decided to go with a new unit from Sterndrive Engineering.. Thanks for the replies.
  16. Thanks, but that would be a Gen I. I need a Gen II.
  17. Looking for an Alpha One lower case. Existing drive is a 96' on a 4.3. Drive serial 0F711503
  18. He suggested a test to run which I will be doing after work today. Also, thanks to everyone who took time to offer suggestions. Much appreciated.
  19. I have a 1996 4.3 liter that has had some cooling system issues since late last season. I thought it was a Zebra Mussel issue but apparently it wasn't. It will run at a consistent 150 when I keep RPMs below 3200 or so. When I run engine at higher speeds, the temp gauge quickly fluctuates between normal temp (150) and completely cold. After a couple of miles the engine then begins to overheat. I installed a new thermostat last season when the problem started and had the impeller and bellows done last fall as maintenance. The problem existed before and after all of this work was done. I searched and saw some postings other places that indicate a possible water pump problem. I am worried that a faulty head gasket compression seal may be pushing compression into the water jacket. I am hoping I am very wrong on that suspicion. Anyone ever experience or hear of this? Thanks
  20. I was wondering what could cause that mess. Looks like a bomb hit the south dock. Hopefully they can give me a temp slip until the repairs are done.
  21. If you dock at Sutters you might have to wait a couple extra weeks to put in. I can still see my slip, it's just not exactly where it used to be. This is the South dock which is the worst but the others are not much better. I hope they open up and get to repairs soon.
  22. PM sent on cover.
  23. I can store them on my boat for you. No charge.
