  1. 18 to 24" inches. Some guys run even closer. Experimentation is the name of the game. The closer in the more erratic the action is and vice versa. Good luck.
  2. I played with a cold water the other day and I must say I like the feel of my convectors much better. I do love the colors of the cold waters tho. They get ther $&*+ together by next spring may upgrade my setup. But for now I'll stick with the convectors.
  3. Did a few skip kings 2 weeks ago but mostly lakers. Hitting them all over the screen east of the chute. Wanted to get out this weekend but I left my motor switch on and killed my battery. Probably going out Tuesday depending on weather. Let ya know how we make out.
  4. Thanks sir. Just ordered the upgrade like u said. Gonna go out without a probe tonight but hopefully next weekend the new one will arrive.
  5. Perfect. Thanks
  6. Is it flat like flea flicker?
  7. Yeah I noticed that today. Is it flat line flea flicker?
  8. Don't buy from this guy. Seems he's not honest in what he has to offer and is not willing to correct it. Just a guy trying to make a quick buck.
  9. I see on their website their downrigger mono goes only to 20lb at the diameter of 16lb. So about this line and the fleas? I've ran flea flicker (hated it) and I'm content with 30lb big game for the moat part but willing to swap if its worth it. So how you think it handles the fleas?
  10. Well finally made it out for a solid few hours but unfortunately got the big ole skunk. Had two releases with what felt like lake trout but dropped both. What also sucked was my 840 probe filled with water somehow and shorted out about a half hour in. Guess that just means its time for a new X4. All in all a successful trip with the boat running smooth and no other issues. Time to start concentrating on the fish.
  11. Your killing the kings. Bring some back to sodus!
  12. Looks like your splash down will be around the same time as me. Ready to smoke them kings baby
  13. Agreed!!!!. Gotta spend money on something tho. Might as well be something u love doing.
  14. Could be stiffer tho?
  15. I second this that the action is what really entices the strike but I do believe that color has something to do with it but I don't believe all these patterns make a difference. Plain white, green, chartreuse etc will work just as well. Gotta have glow tho.
  16. During flea season braid can be a nightmare. Perhaps because its such a heavy test wire could be why it's giving u trouble. 30 lb 7 strand is the standard wire used on Lake O.
  17. Absolutely love it!
  18. So there's 42lb torpedoes in Lake O now eh? Game on! Haha
  19. It may get you close but probably not exaxctly the same because of more drag in the water from the sinkers stacked above it (assuming thats how your adding weight). It may also not allow it to plane out to the side as well. I've never heard of anybody doing this so these are just my thoughts on it. Post back on how it works.
  20. That's interesting. 10 colors of lead tho is still cheaper. Unless your saying that because of this your dipsy will dive deeper?
  21. I seem to be seeing NK's showing up on shelves at stores again. Think they're back for a while? Site still seems to be at the same point it was a year ago.
