long lineing off port credit
Rippin'Line replied to mwmodry's topic in Questions About Trout & Salmon Trolling?
Don't know about port credit but if you have a bait that dives 100 ft on its own I want to know about it. You may find a skippy king but if you can get a deep diving stick bait that dives to 30' you could probably find some steelhead. [ Post made via iPhone ] -
downrigger ball blowback question
Rippin'Line replied to tbulhead's topic in Questions About Trout & Salmon Trolling?
Also thinner weights suck as pancake weights glide through easier but if there's a west current and your trolling north there going to kick out to the side more than a rounded ball would. [ Post made via iPhone ] -
That too. Lol [ Post made via iPhone ]

downrigger ball blowback question
Rippin'Line replied to tbulhead's topic in Questions About Trout & Salmon Trolling?
Currents can change hourly. I've had no blowback one day going NE and the next day in similar weather condition I got 100' of rigger cable out and probe says 70 ft. [ Post made via iPhone ] -
Ill pass the info along. Thank you

Nice blue gloves Salmon slime sucks! Nice fish too! -
Your wire/dispy rod should be good as long as your running wire or heavier mono 30# plus. For downrigger setup i run 30 pound flea flicker line with a 20# flouro leader but 30# big game does a good job of keeping the fleas away. Spoons in greens and blues are good king producers and towards night time purples can become a factor as well as oranges. If you want to spend the extra dime UV spoons are becoming a big thing and glows on cloudy days can be big fish triggering factors. (Not saying only run these colors at these times. mix it up). Spin doctors in NBK, 42 second, hawg wild, wonderbread, and mtn dew ran with flies from companies such as at-tom-mik, Ito, and Big Weenie in matching colors can be deadly, but so can protrolls and various others. Also if you use braided line take it off. Im not sure if you have the fleas up in Erie but theya re awful right now here. Sorry if you know alot of this stuff already and i may have touched on some stuff you already know. Tight Lines.

Asking for a friend. So it began with the boat quitting and not firing back up. Eventually had the gas tank drained and it was discovered that 4 gallons of water had found its way inside the tank form the transducer rooster tailing. After that all filters wer changed. Now it runs fine but wont idle. Carb was cleaned out once before the tank was drained. Anybody have any idea why this may be happening?

Welcome to the board. Great place to pick up new info. I used to be the one asking questions(still do) but I find myself answering a lot of them. Don't be afraid people will help. We have a great fishing community on this board. [ Post made via iPhone ]

Maximum cannon ball weight for Walkers downrigger ?
Rippin'Line replied to igorart7's topic in Tackle and Techniques
The currents this week have been nasty. I use 12# and have had no issues. Your going to get blowback no matter what but shark weights and torpedo weights eliminate some of it. [ Post made via iPhone ] -
May have asked this somewhere else, Will a 30 convector spool a full 1000' of 7 strand wire?

New spoons UV / Glow
Rippin'Line replied to Bfuller's topic in Classifieds - Buy, Sell, Trade or Rent
Just out of curiosity do you make your own blanks or do you purchase them from NK, Stinger, etc? By the way they look DEADLY! May have to pick some up next year when I get my own rig and dont have to rely on my buddy anymore. -
30lb FF twisting up, Help me please!
Rippin'Line replied to ducks517's topic in Questions About Trout & Salmon Trolling?
I Agree with Gambler. I have not had an issue with the stuff and i run pretty much the same set up as him. Swivel to floro, snap swivel to snap swivel alread on flasher. Swivel to floro, sna swivel to spoon. And yes i run Floro to my flashers too. My catch rate is higher with 25 lb gama from 30 main line. More weak points but more fish. -

Sketchy [ Post made via iPhone ] -
Agreeing with Ray. Currents were nasty out there. Nothing worse than looking back at you dipsy and its crossing your rigger. Best thing my partner and i try to do is go into the current. The blow back can be an issue which is where a probe comes in handy. Just because your line counter on your rigger says 100' doesnt mean anything. To reach that area you may need to let out an extra 20' or so. Theres a fish hawk 840 for sale in the classifieds for $250. Anyways we got another NE wind 10 to 20 today (Tuesday) Rest of the week isnt looking to good either. Dies by thursday its game on!

replacing wire line
Rippin'Line replied to thumbburn's topic in Questions About Trout & Salmon Trolling?
With a 1000 ft wire is backing necessary? Ive read it is and isnt. I was given my dipsy rod setup but not sure if theres backing or not. Any ways im upgrading to Okuma Convector 30's and was wonderig if i needed it. -
