Looks good!! I love cheesy grits. My go to for fresh heart is thin sliced with lime juice, fresh chopped jalapeño, and garlic marinade then a quick sear on the grill or cast iron. Eat in tacos with fresh cilantro.
Horses and I do not get along. I tried to get in front of them but they bolted around me. Figured I'd be better off getting out of their way. Offered to give the little girl my orange vest but she didn't want to talk to a stranger in the woods. I don't blame her.
I just had two mini horses followed by a little girl come through the hardwoods where I was planning to ambush the big dog. The girls parents were in the brush and they were all yelling. The horses had gotten loose a few days ago and they were trying to wrangle them up. So I decided to pack up and head to the truck so I could hunt the other side of the property on the edge of the bean field. While I was chatting with the homeowner in her driveway, wouldn't you know, one of the bucks I've been after, a wide, semi tall 10 pt comes blasting out of the brush not 70 yds from us and crosses the road, running across a cut bean field and into the next patch of woods. FML!!! Yet here I am sitting in my stand waiting for nothing to happen. I can't wait for ice!!!
If somebody really wants to bow hunt, they will put the work in to truly bow hunt. 12 yr olds can and have been bow hunting for years. One only needs to be able to pull 35 lbs to legally hunt with a bow in NY.
A crossbow is nowhere near the same as a compound. You point and shoot with a scope, up to 100 yds with a crossbow. You have to draw at the right time with a compound, without getting busted, and my shots are limited to 40 yds as that is what I'm comfortable shooting. There's no comparison.
Took this afternoon off from hunting to butcher a doe my son shot a few days ago. Canned some and sliced enough for 6 gallon bags of jerky. While enjoying the inner loins and a couple beers of course. Good luck tonight guys
Damn that sucks!! You and me both bud. Big guys dropping left and right around here, and I'm struggling big time. I've only laid eyes on one shooter while on stand. What a difference a year makes. I still hunted into the sanctuary yesterday afternoon and walked up on 3 does feeding away. No bucks in tow. Had them all inside of 20 yds but I have my mind set on Mr Big.
This guy showed up a couple weeks ago. I only had pics of him. I decided to set this camera to video and glad I did. Poor guy probably won't make it through the season with that broken leg. What a stud he is though.

Another Niagara county giant hit the ground. Helped friend Jonny find his buck. He shot it at 9:00 this morning. That's almost 350" of antler between two of my friends bucks, maybe 8 miles apart
Had a small buck come out to cut corn and feed broadside at 38 yds for 15 minutes. He walked into woods and carried on with his day shortly after. He didn't seem to be intent on looking for tonight's girlfriend at all. And I don't wash my outerwear during the season unless I get blood on it. Just a good spray down of scent killer and a liberal dose of team fitzgeralds deer dander before every sit.
