  1. That's what we did in our first boat. Not perfect but prevents circles.
  2. I used them this spring. Not a fan. I'll stick to mag divers. I get a true 2 to 1 ratio on a one setting and they are much easier to adjust. The chinooks are nice to reel in though
  3. Looks like you had a great morning too. I love it when the fish are in close. Almost feels like late August.
  4. Garlic/ lime marinated grilled salmon with coconut jasmine rice and mango salsa. I made this tonight at the wife's request. It was so good. http://www.cookingclassy.com/2016/06/grilled-lime-salmon-avocado-mango-salsa-coconut-rice/
  5. After the terrible may I had on lake o, I thought maybe I did too. The freezer full of walleye kind of made up for it though.[emoji12]
  6. It's been awhile since I've posted a report. I've been active over on Lake Erie United and enjoying the walleye fishing most of this year but have had a few decent outings on the west end of Lake O since our dismal spring. Nothing big but numbers have been around 8-10 fish per trip since things started picking up in mid June. We decided to start inside today and set up in 135' in front of the microwave tower. Ran two riggers with moonshine geezer and moonshine martini at 35 and 45 and had a double before the first dipsey hit the water. Small King and a 22# King that stretched the line counter out to 450' on the first run. We got the riggers reset and both divers out when the martini spoon started screaming off the 35' rigger. We landed a 24.5# King. Action was pretty steady with a mix of small kings and steel until 7:00. Then things slowed. I threw a 10 color out with a Barney spoon and Nuclear green 11" echip with meat on a mag diver. 10 color took a 10# steelie and we lost another great King after a 20 minute fight behind the boat on the meat. Pulled rods and came in about 10:30.
  7. I have the Elite HDI also. Are you on 83 or 200? 200 is for 50' and shallower. 83 is for deep water. Set mode to freshwater fishing, surface clarity to medium, noise rejection to medium, adjust sensitivity to 62% and color line to 60% (you can tweak these once you get a basic setting that works). Auto range is ok but doesn't allow you to adjust the zoom. When fishing over 300' or deeper, I like 2x zoom to see the top 150' in greater detail.
  8. I have some medium light 7' for spring Browns, salmon and walleye, and medium heavy 8'6" for summer and fall kings. Sometimes I throw the 7' rods out to make it "fun" but the medium heavy rods are really a better tool for the job
  9. Bright sunny day I would say Michigan stinger super dew 11" paddle.
  10. Why do you need 4' booms?
  11. You can get a new mag 5 st for under $400. Mag 10a's are slow and I don't think they can handle over 12 lb weights.
  12. Check your range on the fish finder. Make sure it's on auto. And great job catching some kings!!!
  13. If you did ppr and snake draft I would be in. Not a fan of auction.
  14. Rt 78 or Lockport olcott Rd. I live right in town, Greg is a stand up guy and will go out of his way to get you anything you need.
  15. ASB tackle has an amazing selection just 5 minutes south of olcott in the plaza next to Kenyon's in newfane. Pick up some moon shines, you'll be glad you did
  16. Adjusting the sensitivity will clear it up, unless your riggers are in the top 30-40'. When fishing under 50' use the 200hz and when fishing deeper use 83hz. You will have to play with sensitivity in both cases. Learn how to use your unit and you'll be surprised how much it can do. I can even see the thermocline on my elite 7 with the sensitivity up high enough.
  17. I bury the lakers in my garden and eat the fantastic vegetables that grow as a result. They are a nasty fish. I've tried numerous times but the taste and texture is just not palatable for me. I eat a lot of fish too.
  18. I have only released one walleye this year. No hogs yet for me (biggest around 6 lbs). Mostly 2-5 lb males.
  19. I make these all the time, just with bigger chunks and a half piece of bacon. I do venison backstraps the same way. It's delicious grilled over oak or cherry on our fire pit!!
  20. You are right about the carbon but I love my optimax too. Mine is a 135. Had it down to 1.5 riding 2-3' waves with bags out the other day. That sounds like a blast catching eyes like that!!!
  21. I have new mag 5 st's on my superfisherman. 13 lb torpedoes are no prob
  22. It depends how rough it is. Usually it's on a 1.5-2. I've had it in 2-3' and it takes more thrust and a bit of fine tuning from me to keep her straight but still very useful. Over 3' and I think it would only work with wind at your back
  23. Weather looks great for Friday. I'll be out of buffalo catching some eyes. The weekend looks like it's back to crappy weather
