  1. I'm doing well in front of buffalo, and Dunkirk is just starting to heat up as well.
  2. I live in olcott. Your better off hitting Erie for some eyes. The fishing sucks in Ontario right now
  3. Nice fish guys
  4. Two great knots to learn. I use a lot of uni knots since I fish for all different species with much of the same gear, just leader up or down accordingly
  5. First day trip this year, now that the water is warming nicely. We started slow with a couple bass and sheepshead on sticks early. Once we found some active fish it was all harnesses. No pattern to the bites as far as color since nuclear green Colorado, watermelon willow and gold goby hatchet blades all took fish.
  6. I have a 135 opti. I've put 100 hrs on it so far this season. It's fast and quiet at idle. Always starts on first attempt. I too use 91 non ethanol with sea foam in every tank. Just refilled the reservoir with mercury DFI oil as required by Mercury. So far it's the best motor I've ever owned
  7. 19 strand torpedo wire in smoke color. So easy to work with and only have to trim a few feet off if it pigtails and it's good as new
  8. Thanks guys. Now that June fishing is upon us, i will be fishing Erie for eyes. This may was the worst spring king fishing I can remember, for me at least. Sk8, I am loving the opti. Trolls down to 1.7 if the current is right and when paired with the terrova, I don't even have to touch the steering wheel.
  9. I have two size 27's. Get the biggest batteries you can fit wherever they are stored. Be sure to use heavy gauge wire and fuse each positive connection with a reset breaker. I think you can buy a harness kit for around $60-70.
  10. 24 volt terrova. Autopilot for steering with the main motor as thrust will last all day. Just using the terrova for night walleye in shallow, I only get about 5 hrs
  11. I went through this a couple months ago. The boat had interstates from 2008. I had to replace them this spring (my first year with the boat). I bought two new interstates after a few suggestions on here and the fact that the previous batteries lasted 8 years.
  12. I give up. Went out last night for a couple hours with my dog and the Mrs. Had one hit and gone shortly after we set up in 220. Then had a huge school of bait knock off my deep rigger. We turned back south in 330' and tripled once we got into 240' in front of olcott. I lost the bigger fish on the 75' rigger almost immediately, grabbed the diver and gave it to my wife as the 10 color started peeling back. I played with the board line until I netted her small steelie and then have her the lead core after unclipping the board and she landed a 6-8 lb coho. Daytime walleye bite is starting up so I think I'll start fishing Erie more.
  13. Got out around 9:30 with the Mrs. It was her first time on our "new" boat and her first time walleye fishing day or night. Water temp is up to 65 degrees and the silvers are in pretty good. We managed 4 eyes and a bunch of silvers. My wife got her first eye which made our night. We left for home a little after midnight.
  14. I live very close by. Great spot for dinner and drinks on the water. The wait staff is usually pretty nice looking too.
  15. I agree completely. My berts were $55 new and I think cannons are over $100 each. @ 8 rod holders, that's $400 more. Wasn't worth it for me
  16. Berts can be rotated in the track. That's why there are grooves. Just line the set screws up with the outside grooves.
  17. There is a boat sunk that way somewhere. Vince told me about it when I told him what had happened.
  18. That is my favorite part of the night. Throwing the throttle forward and cruising back to buffalo with a full livewell, in the dark on calm seas. Full moon overhead and a ton of shimmering lights on shore to light the way. Nothing better in my opinion. The late nights are catching up to me though and a hot daytime bite sounds great to me.
  19. Probably soon. Water temp was 60 in some spots last night and we caught a half dozen silvers in the shallows too. Some are catching them in the top of the water column over deeper structure during the day but nothing heavy yet. At least from what I've heard
  20. Was able to boat a limit last night which felt great after struggling to catch kings last week. They turned on right about 11:30 and had a few moments of one after another until I left at 1:00.
  21. I lost two Downrigger balls just east of Wilson in 85' about 4-5 years ago.
  22. Nice job. I'm heading out tonight myself.
  23. I have a 2001 superfisherman. My starting battery is under the rear casting deck. I have a fuse block mounted to the wall behind the battery and connected each down rigger and some lighting to separate leads.
  24. Half hitch a rubber band on the main line and run your slider through the loop and connect to your main line.
  25. Same here.
