  1. I have a Beckmann that I bought from MostlyMuskies when he would put together the bulk orders. Definitely a strong net and extendable plus it's plenty big for salmon Sent from my iPhone using Lake Ontario United
  2. Head first always. Guy on the Rod gets head out of water and pulls fish into the net as you dip it in the water. Don't stab at it and yes I have a small pinch pad release attached to a heavy rubber band that slides down the handle to hold the net until fish is in Sent from my iPhone using Lake Ontario United
  3. They usually start showing up late August/ early September. Some years there's fish there in early to mid August. Sent from my iPhone using Lake Ontario United
  4. There is really only two major spawning runs on the US side. The Kings stage in front of the Niagara River on the "Bar", and the Salmon River. There are minor packs of staging Salmon at all the ports in between but usually not as heavy of concentration. We kill them every year at the bar as long as the weeds coming out of the river don't clog up the lines Sent from my iPhone using Lake Ontario United
  5. Your welcome. I figured guys would like to know before hauling up here for the weekend. I wanted to go to sturgeon tomorrow but the forecast is not looking too nice Sent from my iPhone using Lake Ontario United
  6. Just got word from a buddy out of olcott this morning. Surface temp is 48 degrees in 120 FOW. Just in time to ruin everybody's weekend plans Sent from my iPhone using Lake Ontario United
  7. 9 years on the last interstate 27's on my boat. I run them down pretty good with the terrova too. Always charged via onboard charger and trickle charged all winter Sent from my iPhone using Lake Ontario United
  8. I have a 2001 with a 135 optimax. The best multispecies hull out there Sent from my iPhone using Lake Ontario United
  9. Definitely no mono but braid works. It's a pain when the fleas are bad though. Sent from my iPhone using Lake Ontario United
  10. https://www.olcottrentals.com/en/786020/marina-webcam Looks great out there now Sent from my iPhone using Lake Ontario United
  11. 4 wire divers (mag diver on 1 setting and regular diver on 3.5), 2 riggers, and a couple copper or leadcore off boards if you have them. May is usually hot but this year it seemed to kick off in June. Sent from my iPhone using Lake Ontario United
  12. I use interstate group 27. Last two lasted 9 years. Always plugged into my on board charger even through winter. Sent from my iPhone using Lake Ontario United
  13. Haven't experienced this with my cannons. I'm guessing tightened too much as well. If it was happening to one I would say it's a defect but it's happened to all three. Sent from my iPhone using Lake Ontario United
  14. They were worse my last time out on Erie. Heading out of buffalo in the morning. Sent from my iPhone using Lake Ontario United
  15. I use a tourney rig and hook the single hook in the meat and let the treble swing Sent from my iPhone using Lake Ontario United
  16. I have another buddy who hasn't caught a fish on it as well. Yesterday another charter boat captain I know was fishing next to us and he was killing it with the white double crush/ stud fly anywhere from 500 copper to 80' rigger, and on his divers. 17. I hopped aboard Dublin Up for a little derby fishing Sunday morning. We headed west out of the pier heads. And set up in 140' right on top of fish. The morning bite was good, landing 3 quick salmon but nothing that would get us near the LOC board. The screen was great a couple miles west of port and we kept working our marks picking away at fish throughout the morning. Ended up 8 for 10 with some skippers also mixed in. Eventually we went to all meat or flashers to keep the juveniles off the hook. Meat was the best producer on 130' diver early then 240' later. 300 copper and 10 colors also produced fish. Got a double on a rigger with both the main line and slider hooking juveniles before we switched out the spoons. Biggest King was 17 lbs. ran the white double crush spin doctor with stud fly but it was silent. Still haven't caught anything on it. No fly bites today at all. We were able to raise $1660 to help with my moms expenses. She is done with her chemotherapy and currently awaiting surgery on July 19th. She has hit her deductible of $12,000 for her medical plan and since now all expenses are covered in full, we can start paying that ridiculous number down. Congratulations to those who won. 19. Straight 30# Maxima Chameleon for me. Only fluorocarbon is on fly leaders. I do use it on my slider leaders since they are higher in the water column. Sent from my iPhone using Lake Ontario United
  20. Thanks so much guys. Mom only has a couple sessions of chemo left so she's getting weak. The end is the hardest part. I'm two weeks in and still working a couple days a week, and fishing a couple days a week. I just responded to the latest batch of entrants so check your email or phone for pics of your filled out tickets. Still plenty of time left to get in on this if your on the fence. 21. Still time to get in on this awesome raffle!!! Sent from my iPhone using Lake Ontario United
  22. Yes 91 non ethanol. And I usually run a few miles from port before I set up. The weight is a huge factor and having a good motor/hull pairing is the key. I had a 25' bay liner hardtop with a 305 in it. What a dog. Wasn't bad on gas while trolling but to run anywhere I could watch the gauge move. 24 mph top speed Sent from my iPhone using Lake Ontario United
  23. I go through about $20-25 in an 8 hr day of trolling with my 135 optimax. She gets a little congested toward the end of the day but a good high rpm run back to port usually cleans her out Sent from my iPhone using Lake Ontario United
  24. I run four dipseys on my 19' boat every time I'm out, unless it's 3-5 footers. Just run a mag diver on a one and a regular diver with ring on a 3.5. Deploy them slow and when possible, set the outside (3.5) diver first. I also run 10 colors, 300 copper, or shorter cores on church inline boards when I want a few extra lines away from the boat. 25. It's on Facebook. Look on Oneida Lake Diehards, Great Lakes Trolling, ASB Tackle, etc Sent from my iPhone using Lake Ontario United
