I see giant deer there all the time. I have been siding houses on Christiana st (the back side of Robinson rd block) and grunted in numerous bucks on the trail of does. It's all small wood lots and patches of brush

A hole in each of the back corners of the sled with an anchor in each hole. Set your shelter so your back is directly into wind. Shovel snow on to tent and around sled (if u have a zipper door in front or sides). You will be nice and sturdy and warm if you take the time.

Well said fleet. However I will welcome any INTELLIGENT discussions from my liberal counterparts as I do on my Facebook page. Believe it or not, there are some smart Democrats out there that are not happy with the current progressives and their vote hangs on the notion that the Democratic Party was once representative of the working man. My grandfather whom I fish with all summer, and is seen in most of my pics as the beneficiary of the larger fish is one and it makes for interesting conversation when the fishing is slow. But if you bring no validity or intelligence to the table, it just angers me.

"A fear of weapons is a sign of emotional and sexual immaturity" - Sigmund Freud. He was a nut but at the time was well respected in his field. It just amazes me that we as a nation have allowed this disease of progressive liberalism to bully it's way into power. At a time when we should be concerned with jobs, debt, energy, and illegal immigration, we instead focus on gay marriage, legalizing pot, global warming, and taking away or forced registration of guns. And sheeple still think this is not a problem. Now before u libs jump on me for my comment, I actually support gays seeking equal rights as married couples, however it is not a marriage. A marriage is only between a man and a woman but if one is to choose to be gay they should be able to receive the same financial benefits as those who get married. I also support marijuana legalization as a means to generate taxes, help overcrowding of prisons, and treat MANY illnesses, or medical conditions naturally instead of popping another pill. Global warming is just a crock that got Al Gore and a bunch of investors rich. With that said, all of this should have been addressed after our economy was fixed, debt was reduced, jobs were created, domestic energy increased, and illegal immigration punished. Make no mistake, we are where we are because it fits into the agenda of the elites. The Tea Party and independents are the last fighting population to restore the America that flourished for 200 years.

You see it Vince. Nothing that is currently trending in the liberal utopia of govt is good. The proof is in the FACTS that the complacent media fails to report on. Rising energy prices, rate of inflation, historic national debt, percentage of jobless Americans, growing wealth of sitting congressman, corporate welfare, etc. The FACT that with the numerous scandals, the excuse "I didn't know about it" is an acceptable response. Still no jobs, still no acceptable healthcare. Still NOBODY HELD ACCOUNTABLE.

3 and 5 year licenses and crossbows
King Slammin replied to tbulhead's topic in Open Lake Discussion
Or just allow crossbows during reg season. It's a gun after all. -
What can I say, some of us were granted the ability to think on our own and have the courage to fight for the future of the country we love. And others are content with being spoonfed whatever bs and lies that make them feel all warm and fuzzy inside. If it were left to people like you, we would still be singing "God Save The Queen"

3 and 5 year licenses and crossbows
King Slammin replied to tbulhead's topic in Open Lake Discussion
Chas I hunt in niagara county where I live. I have several small wood lots of 30 acres or less that my 14 yr old and I bow hunt. The deer are spooked very easily here with minimum pressure. He saw 10 doe and a buck opening evening of bow. He shot one and missed the other. Saw 2 deer from that stand the rest of the season. Once people start shooting at everything that moves and push deer from one block to the next, it's over. I've had to harvest 4-5 deer each bow season to feed my family and its hard enough. Start pushing these woods in bow season and I'll be buying beef again. -

3 and 5 year licenses and crossbows
King Slammin replied to tbulhead's topic in Open Lake Discussion
I just know how the guys around here hunt with a gun in their hands. They get 4 or 5 people to push the thickets out to 4 or 5 guys waiting to shoot them as they come barreling out of there. More deer get wounded this way and the actual hunting gets shut down. This will happen if crossbows are allowed during archery. -
3 and 5 year licenses and crossbows
King Slammin replied to tbulhead's topic in Open Lake Discussion
I only gun hunt 2 or 3 times a yr. However I bowhunt 20-30 times each season. It's hard. You have to practice, spend time scouting, set your stands just right, be mindful of your scent, read the deers behavior, wait for the right moment to draw back, sometimes hold it for 2-3 minutes, let down and draw again, and make that perfect shot when it arises. That's too much for those that don't want to put the work in and keeps those people out of the woods. Deer move naturally during bow season and aren't running scared or nocturnal like they are after opening day of gun season. A crossbow is a gun. It takes most of the hard work and skill out of archery hunting and will therefore lead to more people pushing deer on drives, and leaving undue scent and pressure on an otherwise undisturbed property. This should never be allowed during archery season unless someone is disabled. -

Crossbows have no place in archery season. Wouldn't mind the use during reg season so much. -

Our town hall usually lists the scheduled classes. If not, contact local gun clubs to see if they have any scheduled. Hope this helps

Coyote/Fox populations related?
King Slammin replied to Capt Vince Pierleoni's topic in Big / Small Game
I've never heard that comparison Vince. But I know it will make the turkey and pheasant population a bit stronger. I started trapping them this yr late nov. through dec. since I saw so many fox and coyotes while deer hunting. It was tough in the rain, snow, then thaws and refreeze, but I got 3 reds, a gray, a coyote, and a few coons. Missed bunch of others due to conditions but I'm learning. I only had 6 traps out too. -
