  1. I have the 83/200 for my hds 7. Tracks my 13 lb torpedoes down 100'. It's cool to see the fish streak up to the balls but it can be frustrating as well.
  2. Try setting your tipups higher. Predators feed up so u don't want to fish under them. I usually vary the depths until the fish show me where they like it. I also use hole covers to keep the light from shining in through the hole and it keeps the hole from freezing. Good luck
  3. If you're not running wire or braid dipseys, you are missing out on a ton of fish. I would rather have 2 divers out than a FishHawk. Don't get me wrong I love the fish hawk but it doesn't catch me as many fish as the divers
  4. Same as steely Dan but all wire. Let the mags out first SLOWLY.
  5. Irish, take east lake rd down to the boat launch and go across to the west shore. Find 10-12' and u will be all set for some of the biggest gills in NY. Set some tipups out and u may catch walleye, bass, or pickerel
  6. Experimentation is key. If u aren't learning, u aren't becoming a better fisherman. U will love the wire, I know I do. A bit of advice, let it out slow by loosening your drag a touch and not free spooling the reel. Alot of times my dipsies get nailed while creeping out as I'm setting my riggers. Also drop the dipsies back 15-25' each time as the day goes on until you find the sweet spot. I can't wait for spring
  7. No leaders until after dipsey. Wire knot to coast lock snap then attach dipsey with leader same length as rod used. Hawk eye gave great advice about keeping the line spooled tight and checking for pigtails.
  8. I went with the 19 strand torpedo wire. Easy to tie and don't need a Twilly tip on my Shimano TDR rods. Some pig tailing but that happens with wire. Just cut the bad out and retie. Going on three seasons with 950' or more left on all four rods.
  9. I'm in Pittsburgh this Saturday so I'm out. Might be hitting Honeoye tomorrow though.
  10. They are catch and release for me too.
  11. I wouldn't drive an hr and 20 min to fish here. It's barely worth the 10 min drive for me. If your after gators, Silver Lake is tough to beat. I just catch pike wherever I go, it's kinda my thing.
  12. I fished in my spot just off boat launch. There's current if u go towards the lake so I would spud your way out there.
  13. Jigging with small black marmooska with glow eyes tipped with a waxworm. Smacked it 18" off bottom on my new straightline combo. Pike hit 6" sucker chubs and fatheads.
  14. Head to Honeoye and fish the SW side in 10 FOW. Some of the biggest bluegills u will ever see. White and pink marmooskas with 2 waxies. If the dinks are all over it switch out to a forage minnow and tip the trebles with waxies. U will be hooked.
  15. Slow perch bite, only a few keepers. The predators came to play though. My son Tyler got his biggest pike at 34" and I got one at 32". Jigged up a nice 24" rainbow, and a few rock bass
  16. I've fished lake Alice alot. Mostly otter creek through the ice. Good sized gills and a few crappie mixed in. Might get a bonus walleye. If the main lake freezes safely, there's a drop off to the left of the island in front of the dam that I've caught some nice perch at.
  17. Where were u? That looks like a great day with all the different (and tasty) species. Great job
  18. And a glow bead for deeper rigs and heavy snow cover.
  19. Fished SW side (right next to sk8man I later found out). The morning was slow but ended up catching a bunch of gills. Jigged up a bass and got another on the tipups. Biggest bluegill was a hair over 10". Also got my biggest pickerel to date, a 29". The perch and walleye were not cooperative today though.
  20. I liked my atomic 15# torpedoes from Atomik too Rick. That was until I snagged them on something 15' off bottom in 85 FOW just east of Wilson harbor last year. Broke both off and had to buy what Wes had in stock to get back out there. I still want to know what that was
  21. U sound like you're coming down with something bondouley. Lol
  22. I run the torpedo divers 12lb as well. No complaints
  23. I'll be there all day. There's perch there too I just couldn't get them going Sunday. A couple of my buddies will be on the SW side chasing the gills. I'll be kind of NW of the launch in deeper water.
  24. I'll put my number here if anybody that makes the trip wants to text me. 716-316-1831. I give reports and share info all summer out of Olcott, so why not on Honeoye. Just met Steelie1975 as I bought the auger he had for sale this morning.
