  1. 125' wire meat rig stretched out to 575' with a newbie on the rod. Get him ryan
  2. Crossbow should be allowed during firearms season but definitely not archery season.
  3. Chrome frog sd with Proam glow atomik fly. Nuclear green 11" echip with uv green bait head and meat.
  4. I'll be out of olcott in the am. I'll try to do another live report again. NE wind has things a little cold from what I hear so i will probably head out to 300-400 FOW where we did well Tuesday.
  5. Yes. Make a loop about 3", pass it through the eye of your swivel, then put swivel through loop and pull tight while holding the tag end and main line, then tie an overhand knot about 1" above swivel. Fish doctor has it on his website. Palomar is a great knot, especially for braid
  6. In the spring and early summer, pay attention to surface temp maps. Fish the tight gradient lines. Mid summer after the lake sets up, a good temp probe is key to fish where the temps are ideal for the species you are targeting. Definitely pay attention to reports on this site for your port as well
  7. Right now with the fleas as bad as they are, 30-40 lb mono is a must on riggers. I like Maxima for its abrasion resistance and the chameleon color but there's others. Have Wes at slippery sinker load a couple 45 size reels with 19 strand wire for your dipseys
  8. Slippery sinker in olcott has everything you need.
  9. No need for twilly tip. I have shimano tdr rods in 8'6" and 9'6". Tekota reels are great for wire and copper because of their high retrieve and smooth drag, but they are expensive. Therefore I have okuma Magda pro 45dx line counter reels and loading the whole 1000' on the reel fills it perfect. Just tape the wire around the spool with electric tape so it doesn't slip, fill the spool keeping the wire as tight as possible, then attach swivel directly to wire using wire knot on fish doctors website. Next time u go fishing in deeper water, hook up your dipsey and let out most of your spool, then reel it back in to get it really tight.
  10. For sure. I was new to wire two yrs ago and bought the torpedo 19 strand. It's about $50 for 1000' but its very forgiving and it fills a 45 size reel perfectly. Just trim it when it pigtails real bad. You will be able to reach 100+' deep where mono would never take you.
  11. Thanks. I always love reading bobs boys live reports when I'm not able to be out there. It's tough to do especially when driving into rough seas or constantly moving, changing, and cleaning lines.
  12. Nice job. Too warm inside for us today. fished 300-400. Where's the pics of the 32# king?
  13. Just a suggestion. If supported properly (16" or less between supporting members) it would probably work fine. We've just epoxy coated marine plywood in the past and haven't had any issues yet. $800 a sheet is ridiculous. I do a lot of composite decking and at $75 per board mistakes are costly. I couldn't imagine the words that would come out if I made a mistake with starboard.
  14. 4x8 sheets of azek vinyl board are only $150 per sheet.
  15. Not tomorrow. I'm a contractor and have jobs lined up until friday afternoon and the weekend. Would love to read some reports though. The water was changing as we were fishing today.
  16. When we came in the lake was laying down. Wind switched from the west to more southwest.
  17. It was that cold inside this morning, probably getting back to normal with the west winds. We found our temps down about 65 around 350 FOW and picked up kings at 366, 377, 310, and 335. Steelies on sliders mixed in, and lost two nice fish on the meat rigs on divers.
  18. We had ice water inside so I headed out to 300-400 and we have 47 down 60. It was 44 down 35 in 100 fow
  19. Boxed another high teens king in 360. 2's and 3's out of the west now
