  1. Is this boat still available?
  2. What model do u have, momay? My biggest worry is buying a unit that doesn't hold up to rough seas. I'm really the only one that can keep a straight course when going into three or four footers, but I'm also the only one that can deploy rods too. I'm sure u know what I'm dealing with.
  3. U have cable steering prime time? Or did u install hydraulic? What was the cost with installation. I think my wife will enjoy not having me tell at her in rough seas
  4. I have a teleflex cable steering system with an alpha one out drive. I was thinking about installing an autopilot system ( garmin or raymarine) I would like it to handle well in heavier waves and not just calm seas. Anybody have some advice on how hard of a project this is, and what system would work best. I plan on contacting Kevin Jerge in Wilson about this but wanted some other opinions as well.
  5. I use the tdr for 19 strand wire, with no twilly. Have the okuma classic copper rods as well and I like them.
  6. I had a board with four riggers on my 96" beam. It was a pain to net fish over and was too cluttered. Switched to two riggers only (one on each corner at a 45 degree angle) and couldn't be happier. I just run sliders, two dipseys, and two copper lines on boards (sometimes four dipseys, whatever the fish want) just my two cents, but i had invested a lot of coin into the board with the ball cradles, stanchions, and extra riggers, not to mention time.
  7. Only two rods took fish, 35' rigger black and silver nk28, (king) and it's free slider orange and chart, silver back (steelies). 165 wire diver capt. Valium spinny, Irish ITO 6" fly. (Kings). It's tourney weekend so I'm gonna withhold depth, sorry.
  8. After striking out on Memorial Day ( no spark) we finally made it out after a plug change this am. Set up at 11:00 on flat seas. First fish was a feisty 5 lb steely then came this 12 lb king Got another couple. 5 for 5 so far. Biggest at 16.
  9. Are you having to run deep to find the fish after all the wind? Headed out this am for my shakedown. I plan on setting up in 150 FOW and working nw pulling 2 300 coppers, 2 wires, and my 2 cannons. I'm in the 24' bay liner hardtop. Good luck
  10. Shakedown for me out of Olcott in the morning. Been too damn busy for too long, but finally getting out. Hopefully I only have good news to share over the radio tomorrow.
  11. U shouldnt be runnning dipseys off copper or core. Wire or braid only
  12. U don't need rollers or twilly tips for copper, lead core or wire. Get a couple okuma classic pro glt leadcore/copper rods and the appropriate sized reels for the lengths of copper/core. Penn, tekota, etc. something with a high retrieve rate for a reel helps when bringing in a long copper setup. I use shimano tdr rods with Magda pro 45lc spooled with 19 strand torpedo wire without any issues
  13. I use these on my flashers. http://www.dreamweaverlures.com/shop/accessories/terminal-tackle/swivels/dsqc-10 Tie an overhand knot on fly leader to leave a small loop at the desired leader length. 20" or so.
  14. Gonna be taking her out in 10 days. Anybody that's interested is welcome to join me.
  15. No matter what u should run at least one flasher in your spread. They may bite the spoons, but be attracted by the flasher. I think Popeye pretty much hit it on the head, except I usually substitute the cores for a copper rig off boards
  16. Congratulations. It's a great feeling passing the torch, so to speak, to your kids. I hope there are many more successful hunts together in your future
  17. I got it too. Sad thing is for every thousand people that ignore it, there is that one person that falls for the scam
  18. Check out the bay liner cierra express hardtop 2452 I have listed in the classifieds. Tons of room and amenities in the cabin, yet all rigged up for salmon fishing in the back. My wife lays on top of the cabin to get some sun while we fish. I removed the board in the pic and have just two riggers on the corners.
  19. He got a 14 lb steelhead, a 21 lb king, and a couple hog lakers last yr on our boat. We just don't usually fish for browns. After having this fish for dinner, I might have to rethink this. It was phenomenal. Right up there with the Cohos
