  1. I was kind of surprised, only one boat out there. The water is chocolate milk in the harbor but there is a great color line in front of the piers, and another in about 50'.
  2. A little windy out on the piers in Olcott so we moved into the harbor. Turned out to be a good decision as Tyler hooked up on his fifth cast with a fire tiger shad rap.
  3. http://www.lakeontariounited.com/fishing-hunting/index.php/topic/33128-1998-bayliner-24-hardtop-fishing-family-boat/page-2#entry223944
  4. Great looking boat. This is exactly what i want. Have to sell my boat first unfortunately.
  5. I'm in. Have 3 brackets to watch now. I love the ITO flies. Did well on the 6" last yr
  6. Most of the time we run our flashers and flies on our deep wire dipseys and spoons on the riggers. That way the flashers draw the fish into our spread from both sides. If u have a center rigger, that would be a great place to run a deep flasher or meat rig, sushi fly, etc. NO MATTER WHAT we always have a flasher fly in the spread. Some days the fish wont touch a flasher fly but will hammer the spoons, but i will still leave a couple of the flashers out as they could be the attractor. Leads range from 8' - 20' but definitely no more unless u have a huge beam.
  7. Did well on the Spring Kings using white nk mags with cranberry and chartreuse ladders
  8. I remember being a teenager and pier fishing olcott in the mid 90's. I had one salmon rod and an ultralight with 6lb test. Wouldn't u know a 20+ lb king hooks into the ultra light. She had me up and down the pier a few times but I got her in. Everyone kept telling me I was gonna lose it.
  9. Spro makes small swivels we use for copper to leader. U could probably just do back to back uni knots and be fine
  10. I thought wire was 3 to 1 on a 3 and 2.5 to one on a 1
  11. Thanks rookie. This is why I love this site. I'm not completely sold on the Trackers, just like the layouts I've seen. Some other models have too much bow room and not enough on the stern.
  12. In preparation of the sale of my 24.5' bayliner, I'm looking for a deep v 18' aluminum to replace her. I like the Tracker Targa but might be interested in a Lund, crestliner, polar kraft, etc. must be dual console with wide gunnels for rigger mounts.
  13. I made them from closed cell foam, 1/4" plywood, and a heavy plastic flap to cover. A few small pcs of industrial Velcro to attach to boat and they are removable. I have one on each side, and one on the transom.
  14. I picked up a bunch of NK mag blanks and some ladder backs stickers and let my sons make me some lures. Our best king lure last yr was a white mag blank with staggered chartreuse and raspberry ladders. Other top producers were fuller King of Sting, SSW, Diehard. All mags. Once I cleaned that first spring king and saw the size of the smelt in the stomach, I made sure mags were in my spread. Dirty white boy slayed the steelhead on high riggers
  15. Spring is on its way. She's still in indoor storage if anybody wants to take a peek.
  16. If u have a center rigger, u can run a ff off that as your deep rigger. If u run them on all, make sure u spread the depths out and run short leads or it will be a nasty mess. No matter what, I have at least one ff out. I may only be catching fish on spoons, but the ff could still be attracting them in.
  17. White/green dot, capt. Valium, gator, nuclear grn, Carmel dolphin. I did alright with 6" flies last yr glow/grn, green crinkle, etc
  18. Same thing I did. Heavy wire (6 ga) from battery to fuse block. Then 10 ga marine from block to riggers with quick connects. Get some crimp connection for the right size and keep it clean. [ Post made via iPhone ]
  19. Here's what I made. Some scrap Luan and closed cell foam with a heavy clear plastic cover. I put a couple 2" pcs of industrial strength Velcro on the backs and placed one on each side and one on the transom. [ Post made via iPhone ]
