There is already 2 boats in olcott named balls deep. Call the marina and see if they have any transient slips left.

Like Rick said, everyday is different. You could go out in the afternoon with knowledge of the exact GPS coordinates, depth, speed, lure size and color, direction of travel, lead length, etc. of someone that pounded them in the morning, and still not catch fish. When I read the posts on here, it gets me fired up so all I can think about is the next time I can get out and go fishing. We haven't slaughtered them yet, even with all the detailed reports, but by constantly adapting we've caught fish everytime. I've driven over tons of fish with 42nd and NBK spoons down 40 and back 40, but couldn't get them to hit. The other day we were in 140 FOW and I dropped a rigger from 65' to 130' and hooked up immediately. Thats why this fishing is so awesome. You can follow the reports initially and hope they get you started, but it's up to you to adjust to the changing conditions.

Haven't seen any out of Olcott yet. Only boated about 35 fish so far though.

I'm sure your local bait shops, hotels, restaurants, etc. are loving the traffic. It only benefits the fishery as a whole by driving more traffic there and generating income for your area. I'm loving the traffic I see at Olcott this Spring. Our area needs it badly. Does it affect the fishing? Maybe, but there are enough fish in Lake Ontario for everyone to have a chance to enjoy. No need to be selfish. It's not like your fishing in small secret pond that gets fished out easily.

The bones pull right out when the fish is done. My wife said it reminded her of the cartoon Heathcliff. Enjoy

The coho we've been catching this year are perfect for cooking as a whole fish. I've served this to my 12 yr old son since he was a baby, and he swears its better than any other fish, walleye included. We usually cook this over some hot coals we scrape out of a bonfire with alot of friends, and have done this with steelhead, small kings, and browns, but have found coho to be the best. (1) 4-5 lb whole fish with head and tail removed 3 cloves of garlic old bay seasoning 8 sprigs of lemon thyme 2 green spring onions olive oil Adobo seasoning BEER Clean fish and remove head and tail. Make a slit along belly to backbone the entire length of fish. Make 5-7 slits on both sides of fish to back bone. Dust the entire fish with Adobo and Old Bay seasoning, making sure to get into cavity and slits. Slice garlic cloves 1/8" thick and place one slice in each slit. Remove leaves from lemon thyme and chop green onions. Stuff the herbs into the cavity of the fish. Fire up the charcoal grill and get the grates nice and hot. Coat both sides of the fish with a little olive oil to prevent sticking. Sear both sides for 3-5 minutes per side and move to the side of the fire. Place some presoaked apple chunks on the hot coals and close the grill. Cook for 10-15 min over indirect heat and then serve. It goes well with corn on the cob and grilled asparagus

There's a really nice place in Newfane. It's called Brookins Inn and Suites. It's probably a little pricey, but it was just remodeled a few years ago, and very nice inside. The room I have seen is like an apartment with full kitchen, bath, living room, and queen bedroom. Around $150 per night I think. There are other smaller rooms too.

That is a $350 mistake. Trust me, I let the magic smoke out of my alternator earlier this year doing the same thing. Take her to a mechanic or if you have a voltage meter, test it while running to see if you have 14 volts.

This sunday we had Nk mags, DW dirty white boy, and homemade white/ raspberry/ chartreuse mags all at the same time. Our homemade mags were catching all the fish, to the point where I loaded another rod with a homemade lure of similar colors and that caught fish as well. I think that is the most fun when you find the hot combo.

I went down to the boat and drained the washdown and removed the hose. I also put a light in the engine compartment to heat it up a little. I hope everyone survives the freeze.

Should I be worried if I'm in my slip already? What about my washdown pump system?

Just like mentioned above. Find the intake valve in your hull and make sure it is opened. I thought mine was broken this year on my new to me boat as well. It was just the valve.

Most will say black or clear #1 dipsies or walker deeper divers. Wire is the line you should be using for your dipsies, but you can get by with braid now until the fleas invade.

Grab some mag spoons (greens), wire divers, and spindoctor or 2 wouldn't hurt (hammertime, green NBK. with green flies)

Coho was a skipper. No pics. The fish I'm holding was a juvenile King.

That's a nice lunchbreak. Any size to them? I found them today as well, but only teenagers and juveniles. Now the lake is gonna stir up again and its back to square one.

It was only the 2 of us so we only ran the 3 riggers and no dipsies. Action was consistent with a couple more juveniles, another coho for the table, and a 12 lb. laker. Still haven't found those big kings I've been reading about yet. Is this the Lake Ontario Monster on the bottom? Maybe that's what took my dipsy yesterday:)
