I would also think the difference is the amount of Amperage the control unit is rated for. I know with the Raymarine EVO systems the bigger pumps can't be ran on the smaller control units because they will burn the up with the higher Amperage draw. Either way OP I would be talking to Lowrance technical support to see what the rated Amperage is on the control unit and make sure your pump doesn't exceed it.

24.9oz Brown Trout
Chas0218 replied to brucehookedup's topic in New York Fishing Reports - Lake Ontario (South Shore)
New king of the lake? Holy crap is that thing big. That is a LOC winner right there. -
Honestly the price of the motor new is less than what a re-bore or new piston and rings will set you back. If you were doing the work yourself it would be much cheaper but for a marina to do that work you will be looking at $1000 bill. I have an 81 7.5hp Sea horse and I will tell you that she runs like a top and has a decent amount of trolling hours probably around 2000 hours at this point. If you maintain the motor it should last a long time. What exactly is wrong other than the compression? It could just need new rings. If what you are saying and the block/heads are warped then the motor is truly junk. If I were making a $1000 investment into a kicker I would be buying a used Yamaha or Tohatsu. Both reputable names and are backed by the manufacturer.

Boat Re-wired & Other Repairs, Before & After
Chas0218 replied to Todd in NY's topic in This Old Boat
Not sure if you have given it any thought but you could wrap it all in vinyl if you wanted instead of painting it. It would probably last a little longer and it looks like you have plenty of room around your doors and drawers where it wouldn't interfere wrapping it around to the inside for a clean look. -
If it doesn't skip or miss then I doubt it's a spark issue. Adjust the low idle mixture on the carb if possible. Turn in the adjustment 1/8 turn at a time and listen to the engine she will tell you what she wants. If it stalls back it out 1/4 turn and do it again tightening it in in smaller increments. Once she stalls again 1/8 turn out and leave it. Do this in gear at idle. After a few adjustments you'll want to take her up on plane then back her down to idle again. Repeat until she is running good.

Whichever works best for your setup, there isn't any rule of thumb for it. I have my kicker on the Port along with gas can because I have swim ladder on the Starboard.

Thanks guys, it was tough fishing we didn't fish in just one spot I think we covered close to 15 miles of water. We were all over the bay. Started by Point Salubrious trolled down the side of cherry where we picked up our first eye. Headed out into the lake looking for some warmer water made the turn towards Pt. Peninsula had some good screens had one hit but dropped it before we could make it to the pole. Decided to head back up into the bay had another taker and dropped it after a couple reels. Lots of short strikes this past weekend, had hits on riggers with spoons but no one was home. I'm guessing the fish were turned off on Sunday because of the Bar. pressure switch and finally started getting back into it Monday after it leveled off and there was a slight chop. Wanted to fish Monday but had to work on the FIL outboard on his newly acquired boat. He went out Monday evening after I headed home and got a nice 8 and a 3 pounder. All day Monday the bay was like glass with high sun basically the worse walleye conditions. The bay is frigid still with our best surface temps around 50* so over that deep water it has to be mid 40s. There wasn't any real pattern they were hitting more than another. Bay rats, Smithwicks, Storms Jr. and Full sized, and Matzuo all took fish, I we had a Yozuri that took the silver bass but can't remember for sure. I think anything with a wide wobble would have been good.

We had a great day Saturday but today not so hot, planning on hitting it again tomorrow. We almost managed our 2 man limit but three one my son caught fell short. Managed a nice pike and silver bass too. The 2nd picture of a walleye (after the pike) weighed in at 10lbs. 6oz. And the 5th picture the eye weighed 7lbs. 15oz. All in all good opening day. Sent from my SM-G930V using Lake Ontario United mobile app

There is a place in clayton that does it but again not sure that would be any closer for you.

That's crazy, the females are getting ready to drop their pups so I'm guessing it might have been a hungry female looking for an easy meal. EIther way must have been neat to see.

Coast Guard Boarded My Boat Yesterday
Chas0218 replied to Todd in NY's topic in Open Lake Discussion
I don't mind when I'm fishing, The driver last year was top notch and in 2' seas got up next to me with 9 lines out and no need to pull any. CG got on board and I left the helm and he about freaked. He said I needed to stay there and steer, told him my auto pilot would take care of that. He looked at me puzzled then showed him and we talked about that for about 10 minutes until he signalled to get picked up. Good guys and never had any issues he did say to check the date on my flares but he never looked at them. I told him where everything was and he didn't bother looking. -

Transducer location on transom
Chas0218 replied to stillfishing's topic in Questions About Trout & Salmon Trolling?
You need to make sure it is below the bottom of the boat slightly, I can read depths at any MPH. Mine has the flip up mechanism that if I hit something on the bottom of the boat it will flip up out of the way so it isn't ripped off the boat. I have had it release a couple times in rough water when the boat skips waves. Usually when it releases I will get some wacky readings like 1000' of water and lots of "noise". -

I'll have to try moving my line down to the bottom of the board, only thing I could see making that negate itself is the drag in the water from the clip. Might try to bend that clip up too. My boards are the Cabela's boards so basically an off-shore with a moveable weight. I have tried sliding my weight all the way forward but she starts to dive hard in rough weather. Right now my boards are balanced well so I will see if these mods help. Edit: I usually run between 6 and 8 rods on the in-line boards if I want to run more I get my big boards out. It is nice setting multiple lines to different set backs and being able to run them like that all the time. I can reset a middle line no problem using the in-line boards compared to the big boards.

I have the a68 and love it. I have it networked with an e7 and evo 100 auto pilot. It is great having all the info I need on the displays. I haven't tried the screen mirroring yet but my a68 is the model before they had wi-fi but the e7 does.

Complete Restoration- Transom, Stringers, Floor
Chas0218 replied to garrymny's topic in This Old Boat
Curious as why you didn't go with the Sea Cast stuff? It seems a lot easier to work with as you can pour it where you want it. I Could see the floor being an issue but the transom and stringers would just need a form and you can pour it it then cover it. Either way it looks great, I will be needing to do the same to my boat next winter. I need to first build the garage to do it. -
