  1. Your transom is rotted no doubt about it. And by the looks of it the majority of it shot. Sent from the awesomeness of Chas!
  2. Either will work. Johnson isn't made anymore but Evinrude still produces the parts as most of the new Evinrudes still use the same Johnson parts. I have heard a lot of horror stories of the Yamaha motor but also heard some good things. I haven't heard anything bad about Johnson. I'm pretty sure if the electric start will charge your battery while trolling, not sure about the Yamaha. Sent from the awesomeness of Chas!
  3. If it fluctuates you're good.it's when it is one pressure all the time you have problems. Is this a factory oil pressure gauge? If so then I'm sure it is much lower than it is reading.Sent from the awesomeness of Chas!
  4. If I am alone I run 1 rigger and 2 dipsys so I know my down speed.
  5. I don't run my motor at WOT all the time just when I fish a tourney getting to a spot or when I want to skip waves. Other than that it is generally around 4000. Although I have been known to do a couple donuts when driving motor vehicles, I don't seem to get the same satisfaction when doing them in the boat.
  6. That was my thought too so I figured a tether would be in order just in case.
  7. I would set it up so that the screw won't be holding the tension just the large shaft from the surface mount to the ball. Then for transport it will be in the upright position. My biggest hesitation is that the base is made from plastic. I can put them on this weekend and give a full report before you drop the coin on them.
  8. Wouldn't that be funny. Almost like making them wear a dunce cap.
  9. Ya and 2 of the vertical GLP. You can see where I mounted the trees (vertical aluminum tubes about the middle of the boat), they work great for early browns, walleye, and downriggers.
  10. I have 2 that I plan on mounting to my boat for dipsys. Not quite sure where but I will find somewhere. I have too many options right now. I have the vertical Great lakes planers and plan to add 2 low angle rod holders for dipsys. I love being able to set these rods out to the side to get them out of the boat.
  11. I have 2 props for my boat. 15.5x15 and 15.5x17 both aluminum. I can squeak out 2 more mph with the 17' pitch but with 5 guys and full load (fuel, and all my gear) my motor drops the WOT rpm by 200. I have it set up so with me and the usual light gear it will be near the middle of the recommended peak rpm. This should give you an idea of what I mean: Recommended rpm 4500-5500 Prop: 15.5x17 Boat heavily loaded - 5000 Boat Usual loaded - 5200 Boat light loaded -5300 Prop: 15.5x15 Boat heavily loaded - 5200 Boat Usual loaded - 5300 Boat light loaded -5500
  12. I bounced bottom with one of those stainless divers off ebay in 110' multiple times at 2.5mph. They are the same size as the luhr jenson divers.
  13. Ya I figured. I just wanted to stir the pot.Sent from the awesomeness of Chas!
  14. We were breaking a lot with vanish, I made the switch to segaur and will never look back.Sent from the awesomeness of Chas!

  17. I think it should go to 4 if alone and 2 per a person with 2 people or more. Sent from the awesomeness of Chas!
  18. Good deal! Glad to see you boated some fish. Sent from the awesomeness of Chas!
  19. I use the double uni too and never had a break off at the knot. Just make sure to lubricate really good both lines.I have used a Bristol knot before with good success, it works really well when tying thin braids to heavy mono or flouro Sent from the awesomeness of Chas!
  20. I have been waiting for a while now. Where are the reports? Haha I always find them entertaining and full of great info. Sent from the awesomeness of Chas!
  21. Wow sorry for the crappy auto correct. I was in the middle of one of my classes coming in. I will make sure to double check my responses. Thanks for the answer! Sent from my SCH-I535 using Lake Ontario United mobile app
  22. Is that with riggers?I have been running mine on 2 and 4 with riggers, I'm afraid of tangling my rigger lines with dipsy Sent from my SCH-I535 using Lake Ontario United mobile app
  23. I used that synthetic decking material. My dad had some shorts left over from building a small deck. I just drilled holes and put some nice Stainless steel fender washers with nylon nuts. Haven't loosened up in 2 years and will never rot.
  24. Try slowing down just a touch. I found that when I am traveling too fast they will short strike the bait just knocking it free from the rigger release. The other thing is to add a little tension to the release and crank the rod tip down. I only run 30'-40' leads from ball to bait. Some of the guys run even shorter leads in the 15'-20' range.
  25. We were waiting over on seneca to launch and there was a guy with an older fiberglass boat I/O and a mini van getting ready to pull his boat out. He threw it in drive and floored it. He was on concrete and shouldn't have had any problem pulling the boat out. Well he left it trimmed down and dragged the skag a good 50' before he stopped it actually lifted the back of the boat off the trailer. We were just shooting the crap with the guy in front of us as the guy did it he yelled "Hey pay attention if you want to learn how to throw away a quick grand". Everyone in line started laughing, the guy deserved it seeing as he took half hour to put all his gear away before pulling the boat out.
