  1. I must be one of the minorities, I am split 50/50 dipsy to downrigger fish. Usually one day my downriggers are hot and another my dipsys. Sent from my SCH-I535 using Lake Ontario United mobile app
  2. I'm not going to tell you you shouldn't have been out there you knew the capabilities of your boat and yourself. People tell me I am nuts for fishing 5' swells in my 23' boat why have a big boat if your only going to go out when it's like glass? Plus I think it is fun skipping waves. As for the shipping lanes, I haven't fished them but do pretty well on the trench. I heard there is a nice drop off but I have done so well on the trench I don't have a reason to leave.
  3. Yup I have thrown almost anything down and varied depths and came up with next to nothing. Last weekend I had 5 hits and but only 1 hung on and that one didn't even make it to the boat.
  4. I with you that is why you have different settings on the diver. This past weekend I would have had outriggers going under water in my turns.
  5. Went out the 9th in 4'-5' swells a couple of them were getting a little sick. Unfortunately I they were all green horn crew that didn't want to listen. We went 0 for 5 on riggers with green silver red spoon. 50' down over 80-120 FOW. We should have had at least 2 of those 5 in the boat they would pump the rod too fast and put slack in the line. Both times the fish spit the spoon 20' from the back of the boat. One was for sure a nice 2' steelie/rainbow the other looked like a laker.
  6. Do this with a small drill bit then have it welded. I would not use epoxy on the bottom of the hull.
  7. That is just plum hateful!
  8. Nice! we got a 16 pounder last weekend.
  9. This has happened on both my outboards in the past. Now before I store it I put a little piece of electrical tape over it.
  10. That would do it. You should measure it up and get the correct length cable it will make a world of difference.
  11. I hate to say it but try a search you will get tons of info on dipsy colors.
  12. Its the 23' walk around cuddy. The cuddy makes it great for storing gear and allows people to get out of the elements.
  13. What were their weights? Looks like good 10-12lbs.
  14. Those things are bigs! Those mounts look awesome. Do you prefer skin over replicas?
  15. Thought this might be a good topic for the many that use the marine radios. Granted most if not all monitor 16 & 9 but what are your go to channels when looking for someone? What channel are you guys generally on in the: Wilson/Oak Area: Rochester/Irondequoit area: Sodus area: Oswego/Fairhaven area: Chaumont/St. Lawrence area:
  16. Man I wish I had the money right now for that! Good Price, it looks like the great lakes planar captain deluxe
  17. I type so I look like I am working....Shhhh
  18. Both, mine is gray scale but same idea use different shades of gray.
  19. I have the same 150 Johnson on my boat and those are strong running motors and actually has higher hp than stickered. Good luck with your sale.
  20. I have an older Pro Line I wouldn't get rid of unless it broke in half. I like glass boats for big water because you can't beat the ride and allows me to fish longer than others with smaller boats. If you can swing it look into a longer boat. I was going to buy am 18' glass boat but once I got in it with the wife there would have been room for maybe 1 more person. On my 23' boat I have taken 8 guys plus myself. Granted it was a little crowded but you couldn't beat the amount of room we had.
  21. I run 2 units it is easier to read sonar on a full screen. I have missed bait clouds and fish when running both on the same screen. I guess it all comes down to personal preference. FWIW I run my screen refresh on the fast side so I don't miss anything.
  22. Have some buddies coming up this weekend and was wondering if anyone could shoot me FOW on the kings and trout. I might try the walleyes early in the day but figured do some salmon in the middle of the day. If you don't want to post please shoot me a PM. Thanks, Chas
  23. I am generally pretty split between riggers and dipsy catch rate but I like to run spin dr. flies on both. I will normally run more flies than spoons but I bought some new spoons to try. I like spoons on riggers because it is less likely to tangle.
