  1. Ya aint that the truth. Here is the only photo I took hopefully tomorrow has some with fish.
  2. Went out today for shakedown everything went great except no fish. Went 0-3 but am glad it went without a hitch. Guess I could have specified a little more. I went west out of the chute and couldn't find any good water. Lots of weeds already or just debris floating. So make sure you guys pull lines often and check them.
  3. No, they slide down the line towards the board as you let line out after you already have your set back.
  4. I buy religiously from marineengine.com they have great prices and ship fast. Only thing is the overnight will generally cost as much as the part if not twice as much.
  5. Ok thanks guys!
  6. I started running a 15.5"x17 on my boat vs the 14.25"x21 that is recommended. The main reason is because it planes faster than the smaller diameter but performance wise the Correct diameter prop paired with the Correct pitch will most likely run the same top speed. If you ask me speed is for bass boats and cigarette boats not fishing boats. That's just my $.02
  7. Thank you but I need something a little smaller. I have to be able to remove it by myself because the kicker isn't always on the boat and it doesn't use a lot of fuel.
  8. Looking for one of those plastic gas for my kicker (Johnson). I would like a 5 gallon model but anything will work. Thanks, Chas
  9. I was planning on tying on some leaders to my 30lb PowerPro. What lb fluoro should I use? I was going to go with Seaguar brand but wasn't sure how about the weight. I figured 30 would be fine but wanted to make sure. Thanks, Chas
  10. My father-in-laws camp is right in chaumont across from 3 mile bay. I was going to try the shoals and see what was on those then work in towards Chaumont river mouth. If we don't start to hook up with fish then I was planning on heading towards to Black river bay. Thanks for the suggestions I will definitely keep them in mind. Are you going to be up that way for the opener?
  11. I know when the water is low it can be an issue. Is it good as of now?
  12. I replaced my old worn out hydraulic brakes with an electric and never looking back. It has been going on 3 years and pads are in great condition and the backing plates are in great shape too. I just simply unplug the lights before backing it into the water and never had any problems. I also replaced all my bearings when I did the brake change.
  13. size doesnt really effect the performance it is the pitch and cup shape. Try www.iboats.com they have tons of different props.
  14. Need a little info on the motor. Brand, year, hp. First thing I would do is pull the plugs and check compression and the color of the plugs. The electrodes should be a light brown color. It doesn't sound good if it is seizing up. Stupid question but is this motor a 2 stroke and are you feeding it mixed gas?
  15. All of these ideas really depend on how much your time is worth. I just bought one of these: http://www.jmsonline.net/panther-marine-auxlry-mtr-steering-kit-zinc-552401.htm For the $36 I didn't have to worry about piecing something together or trying to but little parts here and there.
  16. So are you thinking they are still staging? My buddies and I always fish the opener in Chaumont and generally do pretty well but if they aren't in the streams yet that is definitely not a good sign.
  17. Anyone have a good guess when the walleyes will be in the lake and out of the streams. My buddies and I are planning a trip for the opener.
  18. Look into those flavored triscut things we had those with turkey pepperoni and some helluva good cheese once. Those baked potato chips are always good. To my defense it was when the wife came out. I told her all she needed was a glass of wine and she would've been set. The best is when everyone is out there catching and releasing fish and digging down deep in the bag chex mix with their fishy hands not caring or thinking about it. haha
  19. Thanks! I was trying to spread it all out so I don't have a huge cluster of rods in one area. I should be able to fish a good 10 to 12 rods at once. I can only imagine the cluster we would have with 3 or 4 fish on at once.
  20. I mounted all of my major hardware this past weekend 4 riggers, 2 trees, ship to shore, and a steering cable. Only thing left is my sub troll and antenna for ship to shore.
  21. I run the GL planers and they are a truely sturdy product but I haven't ran any others to compare them too.
  22. haha beat ya to it Gambler!
  23. You aren't supposed to target walleye specifically until the 1st weekend in may. If you just so happen to be trolling for trout and hook up with some walleye then it isn't your fault and cannot be fined (unless you keep them).
  24. There is supposedly a large stump and rock right there by the launch too. Just a heads up. Last year we launched out of there and half the docks were sitting on the bottom. I had my motor trimmed up but was still kicking up a lot of mud. Def be careful over there this year. I would recommend the Coast guard launch if you can.
