  1. I use this with every fill up even tho I rebuilt my carbs with Ethanol safe gaskets, and components.
  2. He means fill the hole with something and glass it in. I would glass it from both sides if possible and go with extra layers on the inside making sure you overlap different areas. You might be better off taking it to a repair shop like Sk8man recommended. If anything they can give you a price and if you don't like it do it yourself.
  3. Depends on the model and aluminum/fiberglass. It will make a bigger difference in Aluminum because of the extra weight will help the boat ride better seeing how the rider position will differ (Closer to the transom the better the ride). Fiberglass length won't make much of a difference ride wise. I have fished 14' boats to 23', fiberglass and aluminum and I can say it is nice to have the extra room but the longer boat is harder to handle by yourself unless you have autopilot. Aluminum will almost always ride a little harder because it lacks the weight no matter what hull design/manufacturer. When I bought my boat 2 years ago I had a choice between a smaller aluminum (18' i think) boat and chose my 23' fiberglass based on size and the ability to fish 5 guys not including me comfortably. Not to mention my father-in-law has the same make boat and the ride is comparable to a Grady. Do you have to buy new? There are a lot of boats in that range used for a good price.
  4. The original poster could probably start both motors by hand. Being a 50hp engine it would be tough but we have done it to my fathers 50hp 2 stroke before. Maybe a battery relocation would be a good idea for you into the front of the boat if possible.
  5. Here is a list I thought you guys would like to take a look at. It has a list of all the ethanol free gas stations here in NY. I was looking for a list for my area and was shocked to know that FastTrac was such a large distributor of ethanol free gas. This will surely help myself and other boaters that don't keep their boats in the water. http://pure-gas.org/index.jsp?stateprov=NY
  6. Unfortunately they wont probably pull much harder because of their profile you could try it but I doubt it will help a lot. It sounds like you need a couple of wider homemade boards. You could try attaching tow line to them higher on the board.
  7. Did you have a life vest on? If I'm not mistaken if fishing before April 1st you must always be wearing a life jacket. I think it goes into effect after Nov 1st till April 1st.
  8. You're still looking at a good chunk of change and you still need to buy a transducer. You're going to have to drop your price more to make it feasible for a used unit. I mean this as a suggestion hope you dont take offense. Good luck with your sale. Chas
  9. YES! you would be surprised how much water you catch with one of those. Sorry I forgot to ask if you are running a under deck tank or portable.
  10. So here is where I am at right now looks like I will be ordering a larger servo and utilizing just the controller. I also think I will be going with ConTrollKing seeing as he is willing to ship the controller only at a discounted price. I will keep you guys posted on my progress.
  11. I trolled 1 day with my 88' 150 johnson and guzzled 10 gallons of fuel. It def hurt the wallet a little on that one.
  12. You could always throw a heat lamp on it overnight or for 24hrs. if the barn has electricity. Or even 2 lamps one on each side. I have used the cheap aluminum clamp on trouble lights and a heat bulb for chickens once and it seemed to work pretty well.
  13. I like to use the blood knot. http://www.netknots.com/fishing_knots/blood-knot
  14. Good to hear it is becoming more of an issue.
  15. My 1981 7.5hp 2 stroke will troll 24 hrs. (3) 8hr. days on less than 5 gallons of gas so I think you should be better than that with the 6hp and 4 stroke.
  16. Ok so 2 to 1 minus 10% so if you would could you tell me if my example is correct? Desired depth is 100' so 200' will get it down to 90' hypothetically? Thanks, Chas
  17. Favorite: Slight chop with a nice South, or Southeast wind. Worst: Dead Calm, hotter than hades and no hits.
  18. I am guessing it is the Tohatsu in the picture.....
  19. I use the berkley with my penn reels and really like them. Mine aren't the back lit ones but they work really well. I checked them to my line counters on the reels and were within 1' after 300' being released and the clamp ons seemed to be closer when I measured them out in my back yard. My neighbors must have thought I was nuts walking from the front yard to the back with a tape measure and fishing pole and tying my line to a couple stakes.
  20. I know of a kid that cuts vinyl in Newark NY. Not far from Sodus area. He has done some really impressive work. If you are interested I can PM you his name and where to reach him.
  21. I just picked up a roll I can give a full report come spring. I also use manual downriggers.
  22. Hand lining is tough because you don't get that extra give of the pole so I would run a little heavier line too lessen the likelihood of having a break off.
  23. I don't know it is the one from shakespeare they said it's a marine antenna.
  24. That says it all right there! That and make sure they fall inside the house.
  25. That makes 2 of us! Hows that saying go? "C'mon punk make my day."
