Ya we were on full plane wot and my buddy turned around and motioned to the little motor I pulled her off plane and went back checked out and Id be damn the little 8hp was sitting there idling.
Is there a universal remote control throttle to fit older kickers? I would love to be able to throttle up or down from my steering wheel for my kicker? I am looking for one similar to troll-master. If I knew what the brackets looked like in the troll-master kits I would be able to see if they would work for me. I looked at the instructions for each model and none of them seem like they will work. Maybe the nissan/tohatsu model might but would hate to blow that kind of $$ just for something that won't work. Any ideas?
We caught some rainbows and steelies in the mix of browns up close to shore. Like mentioned above the kings are a little deeper in the spring usually 20'-40' depending on surface temp. We pounded the browns and steelies in Early March and April close to shore ~10 FOW. The kings were just a little deeper in about ~20 FOW. We were making large swings trolling shallow then deep then shallow then deep and picking up fish all over.
This was out of Sodus but it goes the same for just about anywhere on the south shore that time of year.
The earlier you can get up there and fish the better. I fish out of Chaumont bay and catch a good amount of walleye, perch, and salmon. If you want PM me and I can shoot you in the direction for any of the above mentioned fish. If you wanted to fish the Isthmus at the northwest end of chaumont bay in mid to late march you could pick up some walleye and browns it really depends on the temps. If they stay low they will all be in shallower and vise versa if it warms up.
When I was looking through the graphs about half way thru (page 5) the Chinook salmon size for males dropped significantly. Anyone see a reason why? I might have missed it but seems strange when comparing it to the previous years.
Never mind answered my own question.
I have to mount 2 riggers, vertical rod holders, moor sub troll, and have a bunch of new lures that need to get washed. O and almost forgot new tackle techniques.
Ya you can say I'm antsy.
I knew where you are coming from. Now for all you Nay sayers here is some personal experience. Not hear say or media spun Bull.
My wife is not one of those 100 lbs. soaking wet women but by no means big (look at my previous posts for pictures if you don't believe me). She and I have hunted together for the past 8 years. 6 of which she has used a shotgun.
Now her and I went to the range the other day and shot our shotguns, and some "assault" style rifles (not mine). She shot the shotgun with her sabot slugs took care of business shooting a great group out to 100 yards. She then shot the "Assault" style rifle a little reluctant at first because they can look intimadating. And here is what she said I quote "This would make a great hunting and self/home defense gun." I asked her why and i quote again "It is light, easy to maneuver, simple to use, and DOESN'T kick!"
Now I would feel 100x more comfortable with my wife using an "assault" style weapon to defend herself compared to the shotgun for the simple reason that she can handle it much easier than the shotgun meaning she will more likely hit what she is aiming at.
Now call BS if you like but my buddy and I both heard right from her mouth.
EDIT: Her shotgun is a 20ga 1187 synthetic stock and the Assault style rifle was .223 and the other was .308
What is really great about his system is you can add/remove any number of holders. He also makes different angle holders so if you want something the unit doesn't come with you can buy it as an add-on or swap it out for one of the holders it comes with.
I generally have both my dogs, weimaraner and german short haired pointer. I think the weim is good luck because we have caught the majority of our larger fish with him on the boat. Would he qualify as a tournament observer?
