Starting point for Trout and Salmon
Chas0218 replied to Wrestling Coach's topic in Questions About Trout & Salmon Trolling?
Sandy pond is a drive from chaumont bay area. But black river bay always has good fish. If you wanted to go out of mud bay you should be able to hook up with some browns in the spring. [ Post made via Android ] -
Its the X4D that shows depth too and is about $300 more than the standard X4

Cabelas Depthmaster Combos
Chas0218 replied to Adk1's topic in Questions About Trout & Salmon Trolling?
30 Series for sure. The drag on the 30s are better than the 20s. You don't have to fill the reel with braid you can back it with mono then put 150 yards of braid on top but make sure the entire reel is full or you won't get accurate line counter readings. -
Cabelas Depthmaster Combos
Chas0218 replied to Adk1's topic in Questions About Trout & Salmon Trolling?
I have 5 or 6 of depth master combos 8' medium action which serve double purpose as walleye and trout/salmon rods. You cant beat them for the price. The reels work great used them 3 seasons and 2 were dipsy reels for those 3 seasons. The reels are made by diawa and almost exact replicas to the accu-depths. I also have about 3 seasons on my okuma magda dx35 reels and love them never had an issue and the drags work great. I now use 2 of these on my dipsy rods and 50lbs. Power Pro without any issues and have been abused for the last couple seasons. IMHO: There is definitely more expensive gear out there but buy what you can afford. It is nice to have 4 rods that serve their purpose and do it well than have the cream of the crop and only 2 rods. [ Post made via Android ] -
There is a reason why they came out with trebles, for a better hook up rate. Personally I would like to catch any fish willing to hit my lure instead of missing hits. There are there times when singles will work but why use antiquated tools. [ Post made via Android ]

I am sure someone will say it but do a search this is asked about once a month. With that out of the way. I like black and the orange with white bottom and yellow ring. I caught my biggest king to date (21lbs.) on the orange w/white bottom. I have caught many fish on both. So it's really a toss up between the 2.

A little off topic but do you go to SUNY Oswego? -
You could always throw some heavy fishing line around them and tie them to a plug wire or something so you can always it out.

The long gun looked like a semi-auto shotgun with standard capacity mag. So I would love for a politician to explain how the assault rifle ban is the answer to saving everyone's life. The media is by far the biggest influence among these politicians. I am willing to bet 90% of the liberals that passed this asinine bill got their information from the media and NOT the police reports.
-
Most would not argue with you about the background checks nor will I it is more on the issue about the state telling us we can not buy guns that have proven reliable in the field. There was a article in field & stream saying how the sporting rifle (known to politicians and most anit-gun as assault rifles) has found its way into the hunting crowd for various reasons. These rifles are also now available in various calibers ranging from .22LR to .50 caliber so to say any assault is the same is like saying all cars or boats are the same. It is the lack of common sense among law makers that make this bill so asinine not to mention they are only limiting law abiding citizens because I am pretty sure criminals will end up using high capacity magazines or at least fill them all the way. By the way that video posted earlier is worth a listen many valid points.

How in-depth should you get in your studying? Do you need to know all fish limits based on areas and length?

Craziness all around from this new legislation!!! I'm speechless and confused on all of this. Flybuster, if I'm reading the law correctly (and I've read it 10 times and I'm still confused), but I would say that any gun you currently own would be grandfathered in but have to be registered if it: Has a detachable magazine, is semi-automatic AND has "one of Assault Rifle features" such as a muzzle brake (I would consider a ported/vented choke tube like my Carlson's a muzzle brake), pistol grip, bayonet, collapsible stock etc. It must have BOTH a detachable magazine and be semi-auto first, and then possess one of the other AR features to be considered a banned weapon. I would assume most turkey guns which are semi-auto have tube-style magazines so automatically they would be disqualified even if you put a bayonet, collapsible stock, and a muzzle brake on it. - Chris Chris what you mentioned is considered a "2 feature" law (first assault rifle ban) which is now a "one feature" law which does actually classify it as an assault style firearm. in order to strengthen New York's assault weapon ban, expanding its reach and making it easier to enforce. The proposed amendments replace the existing ban consisting of and a "two-feature" test adopted from the now-expired federal assault weapons ban with a clearer "one-feature" test. The "two-feature" test bans any gun that is semi-automatic, has a detachable magazine (in the case of pistols and rifles), and possesses two features that are commonly associated with military weapons. The "one-feature" test would ban semi-automatic guns with detachable magazines that possess one feature commonly associated with military weapons. This section also adds to the list of "features" that characterize a banned weapon.

As the bill reads it doesn't go into effect for 1 year from today. So you're still a law abiding citizen...For a year. haha Chas, where do you see that? i see this in the text of the bill: EFFECTIVE DATE: The bill will take effect immediately except where otherwise provided. Sorry it was about them being registered. Within one year of the effective date, all weapons defined as assault weapons under the new "one-feature" test, as well as weapons grandfathered in under the original assault weapons ban, must be registered. Current owners of these banned weapons may transfer the weapons only to a firearms dealer or transfer to an out of state buyer. All registered owners will be subject to a review of disqualifiers by the State Police. Nevermind you are illegal with most of the state at this time. Sorry!
