  1. That's the tough part about that area. A lot of people think they can come from Oneida lake and catch the same numbers just bigger and it I just isn't the case. Chaumont is a hard bay to fish because of its size and how scattered the fish are. On the opener we trolled 30 miles worth of the bay and only got 2 fish to show for it. Keep at it at least you're getting a couple fish here and there.
  2. Father in law managed a couple so far another 8 lbs fish last night a 9 lbs. fish the night before. He had 4 on last night and only boated the 1, fish are big but not in the numbers. Like mentioned above they are hitting out of instinct not from hunger or aggression. Once that surface temp gets up there another 5 degrees they will turn on a little. These last couple days will help but it is supposed to cool back down so the fish will stay in the bay longer to be picked off but I doubt it will be the high catch rates we are used too at least until the water warms up.
  3. Walleye yes, kings and trout no.
  4. Start at 2mph and go faster and slower to see what the fish want troll for an hour at 2 then pick it up to 2.5 troll for an hour slow down to 1.5 troll for an hour. See which speed produced fish and replicate in the same direction. 8lbs. is a little light for anything past 60' I would be running a minimum of 10lbs if not 12lbs. I run blacks releases on my riggers they work great and can be adjusted infinitely.
  5. That is the transom mount cpt-100 tansducer. That isn't one of the better screen shots it just showed the thermocline in the bay I fishing at that time. I have ran it with bags and no issues. Only thing I did not like is it would pick up my rigger balls and they give off such a strong return it starts to show them as bottom. I have been playing with the options to see if I can get it to register differently. Haven't found a good setting yet other than turning down the gain so it isn't as strong as a return.
  6. My father in law picked up a 9 pounder last night just before dark didn't say where.
  7. If the knock is getting worse it sounds like he might have blown the motor. Does it knock at lower rpms?
  8. Yeah it was slowwww fishing opening weekend we managed one around 7lbs. and another 15 1/2" little guy.
  9. Here are the sites, the NOAA Graphical can sometimes be hit or miss but the 2nd one is usually pretty good long as you click in the middle of the lake in front of your port. http://graphical.weather.gov/sectors/bufMarineWeek.php#tabs http://marine.weather.gov/MapClick.php?lon=-77.02861&lat=43.37114#.VzR3TFWDGko
  10. I have a couple sites that I use and I don't think anyone on the US side will be fishing Sat. past noon and no fishing on Sun. If you go out of Toronto you might be alright.
  11. I 2nd the dipsys. I have caught many lakers at 2mph+ on dipsys running spin dr. with flies chasing kings. It is unusual because of the speed but they will hit them. Most of my fish over the few years I have been fishing salmon and trout have come on dipsys with flasher flies.
  12. Tell me that is a joke...
  13. I have the a68 and the screen is big enough for only sonar. Now if you want to have the GPS and Sonar on the same screen I would recommend moving up to the a78 or a98. The CHIRP (Down visioin) is the cats meow when it comes to detail under the boat. I would never own another unit without it. Also what model autopilot? If it has the ability to hook up via sea talk all you will need is one wire plug and go. Here is a screen shot from my a68 this past weekend.
  14. I have mine on a panther mount on fiberglass boat and never had an issue with stray electrical, maybe I do but catch fish anyway. you could just run a short wire from your little motor to your big motor if you think you are getting electrical noise.
  15. Good to hear, I'm not trying to be a prick just wanted you to know it wasn't working for those looking for information. Thanks for everything you guys are doing!
  16. Just checked the site on IE and Chrome and notta.
  17. The Snug derby 1st thru 3rd were all double digits I know of a few guys that caught a couple fish but weren't in the bay.
  18. I forgot to mention that the fish are definitely reproducing in the bay one of the 2 walleye caught was a 15.5" little guy. Smallest I have ever caught in the bay, hopefully I will catch him when he is a few years older.
  19. We ended the weekend with 2 eyes, 2 jack parch, and a 4.5lbs. bass. Fishing was tough but about the same as last year. I had some great screens in the 40-50 range just couldn't get anything going. First time I have ever saw a thermocline in the bay. That water down deep was COLD! I'll see if I can get a few of my screenshots loaded, there was some nice bait in the bay but hardly any arcs around the bait balls. The bait was comprised of perch mostly because shortly after going thru the bait we had perch on.
  20. I was going to say that cap looked rough, looks like you are set. Looking forward to seeing you out there!
  21. Check all fittings form carbs to tank if any hoses are cracked/ dry rotted replace, it could be sucking air. Blow into the filler neck with compressor or mouth and you should see fumes or feel air coming out vent if you can't see or feel anything coming out the vent then it is clogged. If those don't remedy the problem it could be the fuel pump especially if it dies at full throttle. Try this. when you are running and it starts acting up have someone pump the primer bulb. If the boat runs fine or better while pumping then it is the fuel pump. If it isn't fuel pump it could be carbs need a rebuild.
  22. Made this one with my son when he was patiently waiting for his food. He takes after his mother.
  23. 18" closed I think, I will measure this weekend.
  24. Let me know if you need a hand or someone to bounce an idea off.
