  1. Was there ice in 3 mile? It looks like it has opened up from long point state park up to three mile.
  2. Well said!
  3. Depends on how much you could use the kicker. I mainly troll so for me I have a kicker. The big motor will no matter what use more fuel than a kicker unless your main motor is small (less than 25hp). This is where you need to figure out how much fuel you burn and how much fuel a kicker would burn. In my case this was obvious. My 2 stroke '88 johnson 150 burns around 1 gallon an hour trolling 2-2.5mph. My 8hp johnson 2 stroke burns about .3 gallons an hour. So here is the math, I troll around 200 hours in a season that is 200 gallons ($400) of gas with my big motor and kicker uses 63 gallons ($120) so there is a big difference for me. If I bought a newer 4 stroke I could spend even less in gas for my kicker. On Lake O there are days where my kicker won't push me fast enough into the waves and I am forced to use my big motor but I use that little guy for almost all trolling up to 4' waves then the big motor has to help out.
  4. Do not paint the anodes, it defeats the purpose. They should be free of any paint/coating just raw metal (zinc or magnesium).
  5. The older uni-troll can accept the newer telescoping arms same size hole in the base.
  6. Then just add a rigger line on each back corner of the boat.
  7. Update 3-12-16 the pictures don't lie! It looks like the river and surrounding bays are starting to loosen up.
  8. I have been lucky enough where I hunt in 8F and neighboring properties seem to show some (I use that term loosely) restraint when killing bucks. I have killed a few 130"+ 10 point whitetails in NY but that is only because we have a 8 point rule on our property. If it doesn't have 8 points then it walks (I let the smaller 120" 8 points walk as well). Now in the southern zone on my buddy's property they shoot everything I mean everything. I have only saw one deer on camera that was bigger than a 6 point. My first year hunting on his property I killed a 120" 10 point, not a bad deer for the area but in the last 6 seasons I have seen maybe (2) 4 points. I say MAR is a must for trophy class deer. On a side note, all of the deer I have taken in 8F that were 130" or bigger were 4.5 years old except my 161" 10 point that was 5.5 years old.
  9. Yes and no. If you are used to reading the boards then no but if they are new to you then yes. Cabelas has their boards with tattle flags on sale for $27.99, I have used them for 3 seasons and no major complaints. I did purchase some extra off shore releases to replace the ones that break. I have only replaced 1 so far and I think it was because I was trying to use too heavy of mono (50lbs.) Also once you get a board with tattle tail flags you can just make your own it is really simple I made mine from galvanized fence wire and nylon bushings from tractor supply. http://www.cabelas.com/product/ADVANCED-ANGLERS-PLANER-BOARD-W-STRIKE-FLAG-KIT/1807049.uts?searchPath=%2Fbrowse.cmd%3FcategoryId%3D734095080%26CQ_search%3Dadvanced%252Bangler%26CQ_page%3D20
  10. I agree and from what I can tell from the original post this pulls charters into this. Depending on how they word the law it could effect many people's livelihood.
  11. This is the part I don't get you contradict yourself in the last few sentences. You refer to hunting and fishing as a privilege, which it is not I own land, and a small pond and should not have to pay for a license to use my land as I please. I pay taxes on the land it is mine no one should be able to dictate what I do. Now the 2nd part you say a resource that belongs to everyone so in fact if it belongs to everyone why should we need to pay for a license to use it? Being a public resource means it is open to everyone why pay for something that should be available to everyone? What about that guy that can't afford the fishing license but wants to take his kid fishing technically he can't because he hasn't paid his way into a "public resource". I understand "some" money from licenses goes back into the resources (how much no one will ever really know) and that is why I bought my lifetime license to maybe help keep programs funded and help our resources flourish. But in your case you seem to only be presenting one side.
  12. If wired in parallel he won't lower the impedance. a 4 channel amp should handle anything down to 4 ohm and most of your 3 way speakers are 8 ohm so it shouldn't be a problem even in series. The sub on the other hand could be an issue unless it is a 4 ohm dual voice coil-over.
  13. Nope it is not (according to the label). I mean I haven't taken a torch to it but with it drying as hard as it does I am pretty sure it will char and that's about it.
  14. Here is a photo of what I meant. How big of a subwoofer? Why dont you want to power your speakers from your radio and run only an amp for your subwoofer?
  15. I had a crack in my hull not under a stringer or anything structural and ground out some of the crack to find water permeated thru. I used a grinding wheel and my grinder got out all the bad stuff then packed it full of that MarineRX (link below) this stuff hardens like concrete and has yet to leak again. This year I might be splitting my hull and working on my floors. and glassing in behind it some. I used this on my jetski to fix a large gouge in the hull that was leaking badly and even with all the pounding that hull gets never had an issue. http://www.westmarine.com/buy/west-marine--marine-rx-epoxy-repair-kit-14-oz--13967450
  16. What I would do is bridge the rear channel for the sub and install inline speaker crossover for the sub to only allow the low range frequencies to the sub. only thing you will end up loosing is the ability to turn the sub off. If you wanted you could also add a quality inline switch to allow you to turn off the sub when needed. Can you list some of the specs for the amp? Here is an example of a crossover I'm referring to. http://www.parts-express.com/parts-express-80-hz-low-pass-8-ohm-crossover--266-442?utm_source=google&utm_medium=cpc&utm_campaign=pla
  17. Why are you coating only the bottom? If you're coating it you might as well encapsulate the whole thing.
  18. Lowrances are finicky with their power supply, I would move your riggers to the other battery along with your kicker alternator or run only the fishfinder over to the other battery. When running multiple electric riggers at once on start up (the moment you bring up the rigger ball) they will draw that battery down below 12v for a split second causing your more sensitive electronics to shut off.
  19. Yeah I was thinking the same thing thanks guys.
  20. I found a deal on doduca.com but I'm not sure if it is a trustworthy site. Has anyone bought stuff off there? They have some good deals on fishfinders but i am weary of sites I don't normally hear about.
  21. No limit in Jefferson county. I agree where there is a creel limit they shouldn't be keeping more than that. Chaumont was mentioned. I know of 20 maybe 30 people in the bay that sell fish on a regular basis. Out of those say 10 that do it regularly and I know majority don't manage more than 10lbs. or 20lbs. per day. That is 20 or 40 fish still under the legal limit in all other counties.
  22. Anyone know how the depth counter works I can't tell from the photos? Is it similar to the cannon with a little gear or is it based on the cable?
  23. FWIW if you are making less than $9,499/year and under the age of 65 you don't need to file taxes.
  24. How does the public not get their cut? Aren't I considered part of the public? If they put in the time, effort and money they should be able to sell them as anyone else should be able too. The government gets their cut it's called taxes. No one is going to get rich selling perch no matter whether you are the catcher, fillet guy, seller or all of the above.
