Last year was my son's first summer at our cottage and was 5 months old. I took on the duty of putting him to sleep at night around 7. I loved to do it as it was the only father-son time I would get with him. The only problem was that is prime-time walleye from 7-9. So I made the best of it and left around 8 after he was asleep and headed to my walleye spot. I would get there just at dusk drop lines as fast as I could and make a few passes. I limited out each time in only a few hours I was out and no one was catching any fish during the day. There wasn't a soul out there so if something happened I would getting help from the coast guard if I ran into trouble. The few times I have trolled at night for walleye and I will tell you it is an eerie feeling even when you know the area.

I put 1000' of wire on my magda 30 without backing and the line counter seems to be plenty accurate. With my braid I put some backing on then 50# power pro. Not sure on the amount of backing it has been 4 years since I put it on (still in use).

There are spots on the bottom portion of the tail.

You know that is what I thought! Pink salmon but wasn't entirely sure.

What model is the dome? -
haha ain't that the truth! If I remember right I think it was 12 1/2"

Added a little bigger view of the mouth. The fork in the tail is what kind of threw me. I have seen juvenile kings and coho but I didn't think the fork was that defined.
-
Now I think I know the species but vote above so if you wrong you can't get embarrassed/bashed unless of course you don't care. Let the fun begin! Zoom in of the mouth.

Before you bottom paint make sure to seal it/prime it! Just throwing bottom paint over the gel coat will not completely seal the hull. Here is a link to a DIY process: http://www.yachtpaint.com/LiteratureCentre/bare-fiberglass-bottom-paint-guide-usa-eng.pdf

Ice fishing? Trolling? Drifting/Jigging? What were you planning on doing? In the spring, summer, and fall I exclusively troll because where I fish the eyes aren't stacked on each other and need to cover a lot of ground. I usually troll deep diving stickbaits on 80'-160' leads all depends on what is producing.

I used to use these until I had a rod fail and cabelas refused to replace it when it was only 2 months old. I told the lady I never had an issue in the past as I had 1 other fail 2 years prior. I suggest looking at the Okuma Classic Pro GLT they can be purchased cheaper than the Depthmasters (sometimes.)

Classic pro glt 8' 6" in medium action. I use them for walleye and salmon. They are stiff enough for inline or big planer boards but soft enough for those walleye. When targeting walleye keep your drags looser and you won't have an issue.

I really depends on the boat and the ability to run the lines. I have ran 12 lines on a 16' boat, it wasn't easy and took some time to get down a technique but 4 guys on a 16' boat is crowded. On most trips it was 6 lines and 2 guys. I would recommend 4 rod holder trees. It's nice to have a few extra spots for rods.

All of mine are at a set angle 55* but Tony does offer different angles. The ones he lists available are 55* (standard on all setups) 45*, 30*, 15*, and 5* (lists as dipsy setup). Tony has the vertical 3 rod holders for $174 and the 4 rod for $204. I had the 4 rod and upgraded to the rocket launcher setup. If you were buying the vertical rod holders I would recommend paying the extra money for a 48" vertical post. http://greatlakesplaners.com/store/products.asp?cat=10&pg=2 Yes cut to fit. You can order longer crossbar if needed, last time I called it was $10/foot.

Also guys the lower you run the battery the lower the life expectancy will be. You shouldn't discharge the battery more than half way or you will cut the life expectancy down faster.

I have my mast mounted further forward to get the planer lines away from my poles. On tighter turns the line does get into the poles (the poles on the trees) for a moment but I try not to turn that fast because of tangles. This is only when I am running 5 rods/side on big boards. I have gotten away with 6 lines/side with big boards but your turns are a good 1/4 mile wide. The rocket launcher setup does let me run a lot more rods. On slow days walleye fishing I have ran 15 rods 6/side on the planer boards 3 downriggers. The worst is when we get a rookie working the rod and starts to work the fish before it falls behind the boat. Tangle city!

Yeah I tried to flick the wire but it doesn't work.
