  1. What's the surface temp? Any idea what down temp is? Sent from my thinking chair...
  2. Ya have to love that. Last year I had a 8 rods with me and fishing alone for walleye and got boarded by DEC. He asked the usual what are you fishing for, any on board, yada yada. Then he looks at all my poles and asks sarcastically "fishing with all these poles" and I replied yes paused and finished with only 3 at once though. His eyes got huge then chuckled and said have a nice day.
  3. I have 20 soon to be 22 rods adding 2 copper rods. 6 of those 20 are my walleye rods the rest are setup for salmon. That being said I use some of my salmon rods for double duty.
  4. That can't be right, on our water front we have a rock that hasn't seen water since last spring and the chud line on it with a laser level says 16" to water level. This was checked in the evening dead flat in Chaumont bay.
  5. BOAT --> Bust Out Another Thousand I have towed a bunch of boats back to port, I almost ran my motor dry on oil last weekend didn't realize my reservoir had a pin hole and emptied out during the winter. I always fill it up at the end of the season but forgot to check it this year. Luckily the reservoir has a small shelf that allowed some to stay pooled in the bottom.
  6. This is a great idea and definitely worth doing. I had a bilge pump fail and no back up and almost sunk my boat, thank god for flotation foam. Make sure the backup pump is a big one in the 1000 gph or larger. My boat is as dry as a bone now, one of the chines had a 6' crack that only opened when sitting in the water running it was fine. I don't keep my boat in the water but I would fix those rivets it would be pretty cheap and no longer a wet hull. http://www.lakeontariounited.com/fishing-hunting/topic/28559-solid-blind-pop-rivets-for-aluminum-hull-repair/ Here is an old thread on fixing rivets.
  7. O wow I haven't won something so awesome. Man I'm so excited I need to tell my wife! Sent from my thinking chair...
  8. I might need to try that, I bought them used so no biggy. I might end up drilling a couple and have 2 positions. Sent from my thinking chair...
  9. Yeah so far, I just put it on this year. I might use one of those pins that are for the upright supports. I didn't use the supports I don't think they are needed. I also have 8 rods mounted up there, but I don't think that should matter.
  10. No usually it is about 2' higher in the spring than it is now. Not sure what is going on. Obama must have sold water to the middle east or something.
  11. So I have the rocket launcher setup but have a problem. The rocket launcher part slowly tips towards back as I am running. The last time I was out it was almost to the point where the rods were going to start falling out. I tried tightening the knobs but it didn't seem to do much. Any ideas on how to keep them from sliding? I am thinking of pinning them but wanted to know what others have done. Thanks, Chas
  12. Could a 23' fiberglass be launched at stony?
  13. Wow is that a nice king can't believe the colors in it. Very pretty fish!
  14. If you do set it up with a switch DO NOT switch batteries while either your main motor or kicker are running. You can damage the switch or your electronics on the motor.
  15. Not this weekend but I will be up for the 16th, 17th weekend, and 21st-24th memorial day weekend. Itching to get back up there but have to get stuff at home taken care of. You going to be up memorial day weekend?
  16. Nice, we had the same thing ended up hooking up with 2 eyes right at dark. 8lbs. and 6 lbs. we had caught 1 more pike early in the day but nothing for the rest.
  17. Are the rods running like dipsys, flat to the surface of the water? You want the rod tip as high as you can get it.
  18. I mounted them next to it on a bracket I had made. These things were bright enough to angle towards my big boards and see the lime green releases out to the board about 100' and still light the back of the boat. I will try and get a picture next weekend. We had the one eye wrap up another line and there was plenty of light to see to get the tangle un-done.
  19. They were horrible up on the east end. If you were in a breeze not bad but if it barely a light breeze it was all you could do from having them crawl up your nose, in your ears, mouth, they were freaking everywhere. My rods were loaded with them, I need to clean off my pawls.
  20. On Saturday I saw 2 idiots in a paddle boat about 30 yards off shore and no life vests. This was Lake Ontario.
  21. I never leave my plug in over the winter. I had about 4 gallons in my boat when I put her away not realizing it, check your bilge pumps and lines.
  22. We got 2 eyes but were late into the evening. We trolled most of the day without moving a rod. We also tried all the normal colors then odd ball colors and nothing helped during the day. The water temp down 10' is 40 degrees so the water is really cold still. The ones we caught were spawned out but empty bellys. I would be willing to bet that in a couple weeks with some warm weather they will be turning on. I actually had some nice marks stacked on the screen of the fish finder but no takers. It was a tough weekend for fishing eyes.
  23. As high as you can get them. You don't want them dragging in the water otherwise you can tangle your line around towline or other releases.
  24. Raymarine unit can be networked with any gps unit that has NEMA 2000 output as well. So if you have a gps/FF that has nmea output you wouldn't need to upgrade your electronics. Plus Raymarines tech support is top notch being able to repair units vs pro-rating them.
  25. That is some seriously warm water was this out of Mexico? BTW Nice Fish!
