  1. Good looking fish, who did the mount?
  2. 2 things: 1st --> Check out this from blood run for getting your boards to run right. http://www.bloodruntackle.com/planer-board-mods-tips/ 2nd --> Little fish are hard to read on in-line boards no matter what brand unless you run a tattle tail. Here is a trick I have learned to try and help tell if a small fish is attached. Grab the rod point it towards the water while angled out the back of the boat then sweep quickly towards the bow. If there is a fish or debris on your lure generally it will skip behind the boat otherwise it will shoot further up the side of the boat. This doesn't always work but seems to work for me in most cases.
  3. Raymarine on my boat wouldn't trade it for anything other than a bigger, newer boat with it already installed.
  4. Ok so for those that use palomar is there a way to do it without having to put your bait back thru the loop? My stick baits are a real pain. The loop is constantly getting caught on the trebles. If there isn't then I will start using larger loops, the part I don't like about the larger loops is it allows more heat to be created pulling that much more line thru the knot.
  5. A 14lbs. walleye will weigh out 17lbs. with eggs. On average when we are ice fishing we figure 7lbs.-10lbs. add 2 lbs. for eggs 10lbs.+ add 3lbs. for eggs. They did not test the age they wanted to get her back in the water right after the photo opt.
  6. I had the same out my little 2 stroke trolling motor and it was just from the oil and water mixing in the exhaust port. Is it a 2 stroke? I remember a post a while back work a guy having the same issue. Had to do with Stabil and mixed fuel. I run Stabil in my big motor and my little one never had an issue except when mixing the 2 by hand. Sent from my thinking chair...

  8. So my buddy sent me this photo and as they were shocking an area they came across a 17lbs. Walleye. Crazy the size of this thing you would not expect a fish this size from the size of this lake. Just insane. If they get that big in that area I would love to see what one could do in lake O. Sent from my thinking chair...
  9. Almost forgot thanks! Excited to see how she works.Sent from my thinking chair...
  10. It really didn't take long at all but I already had the quad trees installed. Cutting the top bar to length and figuring out how many stainless washers to use to shim it took the longest. His brackets are spot on but my boat is older and the gunnels have pretty good angles from the fiberglass molds so it releases. The problem I ran into is the trees' mats are too short so I had to have my buddy weld extensions. Tony will sell you new uprights for $10/foot. Do you could buy a 5' piece them have the two pieces welded together then just buy the topbar. I hung off the side without any flex of the so I'm not to concerned. I would like the braces so I could add more holders like the captian deluxe.Sent from my thinking chair...
  11. I run between 6 and 10 lines on my big boards it depends on how much room I have around me. Once I dial in the set back length I generally run all the same length set back. Unless it is really slow it is around 8 planer rods ,2 riggers, and 1 flat line in the prop wash.
  12. So here is a photo of the rocket launcher setup on my boat. These are the great lakes planers. Can't wait to try them out this weekend! Sent from my thinking chair...
  13. Yeah I understand, I just see a lot of these new gadgets that people want more than need.

    Chaumont

Get there early that launch is small and LOTS of guys launch there. The launch at black river and Chaumont are a little bigger and might have a better chance of being able to park. There is also a marina on the north side of the Chaumont bay bridge that I think allows people to launch for a small fee.

It has got to move with that motor in her.
  16. That sounds like a Palomar.
  17. Those carbs from what I read are pretty much bullet proof. How old is the gas?
  18. Wow when did fisherman get so soft? We crank my boards in by hand like G-Daddy. This is almost as bad as people whining about manual downriggers. I never had an issue with my manuals even after catching the handle a few times on the rail post for my rail system. I did have to take it apart on the water and clean out some thickened grease that kept the rigger latch from engaging but that was 2 minutes worth of work and no cost in parts.
  19. Make sure that is warm idle rpm (choke not engaged), but I would bump it just a bit so it would be around 1200 at highest idle.
  20. What is your rpm at idle not in gear? What is it in gear?

    Opening day?

Ain't that the truth! Of course unless you fish with me but seriously up there the usual average fish is 5lbs.-6lbs. its about quality not quantity in that area.

  23. Sounds like a good time! This coming weekend will be splash down for us. We are hoping to get into some eyes but a few browns or salmon would be a nice plus!
