  1. I just bought an A68 that will control it and no need for the other display. EDIT: So I just got off the phone with Raymarine and they recommend keeping the P70r unit along with the a68. So sorry for any that were interested it is no longer available.
  2. Here is a photo of the unit in action far left display.
  3. So I sat down the other day and figured out what I had into my boat only gear wise and it is almost 5 times what I bought my boat for. Granted my boat is old and tired but it catches fish a nice ones at that. Is it normal to have that much invested? Sent from my thinking chair...
  4. Me too! I just bought the a68 to replace it. It has been a good unit but time to retire it. I bought it in 2006 and it has worked the past 9 season great on my boat without any problems it was just time to get a little newer technology. Also this unit was left on the boat in the elements all summer long. Sent from my thinking chair...
  5. I tried it in the app too and it wouldn't work I had to go to the website. Sent from my thinking chair...
  6. Would anyone be interested in a Raymarine P70r? It is used for 1 season about 3 months. Comes with bezel, cover, seal, and screws. Same one seen below. Here is a link to the specs. I don't have a current picture as boat is in storage 3 hours away. If there is enough interest in it I can go get it. Looking to get $400. http://www.anchorexpress.com/raymarine-p70r-autopilot-control-head-w-rotary-knob-e22167?gclid=CPS76Jf5j8QCFTQV7AodAwoALw
  7. Yeah it's only a 5.7" but I think next year I'll just add another. Sent from my thinking chair...
  8. Just pulled the trigger on the a68, I realize it is a smaller screen but it is Stupid cheap on www.BOEmarine.com might actually buy 2. Here is the deal guys: http://www.boemarine.com/raymarine-a68-5-7-mfd-touchscreen-w-built-in-chirp-downvision-cpt-100-transducer-north-american-gold-bundle-map-1364-99/
  9. With all this talk about boat electronics I wanted the opinion of those that have had bigger and smaller screens. I am a recreational fisherman on a strict budget. I want to buy a combo unit as it is the best option budget wise. What size screen is too small? I have a 5" screen fishfinder but I think it would just be too small to run as GPS and a Depthfinder. Would 7" suffice or is bigger needed when doing a split screen scenario? I was thinking of a 9" screen but the price tag scares me a bit. I saw some manufacturers offer an 8" screen which was some middle ground for me. The biggest problem I am finding is there aren't any stores nearby that I can look at the 7" models. I can only find the 5.7" and the 9" models. As of right now I am looking at the: listed by preference Raymarine A75/78 (non CHIRP/CHIRP) Humminbird 800 series Garmin echoMAP 73dv I don't want to be disappointed in the screen size. I can't afford a Furuno + a transducer. Lowrance has not impressed me and want a warranty that will fix my unit not pro-rate me to buy another. So how big are these screens really. If anyone could give an actual height and width measurement of only the screen not the entire unit it would be greatly appreciated.
  10. Raymarine! Thought I would just add another brand!
  11. I bought 2' of double sided velcro at walmart for less than $10 then wrapped it around the front of the diver arm and around the rod. The leader I then looped below the reel and hooked the swivel onto a pole eye. Works pretty good and super cheap.
  12. Haha should have played the lottery! Sent from my thinking chair...
  13. I use this knot on my downriggers tied to my black's release 16lbs. torpedos haven't broken them yet. Never failed in the past 3 years but always check your connections! I usually always have a downrigger or 2 when chasing walleye, salmon, or trout and this is from April till late september.
  14. Check out harbor freight they have one pretty reasonable and generally you can use a 20% off coupon on them.
  15. Yeah wasn't the smartest of moves but severe thunder storm was moving in with 40-50 mph winds and we needed to make it back to the Chaumont bay launch before the lake went to crap. I honestly thought he was going to blow her up he didn't back off it for a solid 8 minutes. I have to admit we made it back in record time.
