Cool video, have you thought of throwing the camera on the dog. It would be neat to see how he works the rabbit.

I'm in favor for it and my family and I have several pieces of property that our family hunts. I can't stand the guys that brag about shooting small bucks but pass up 10 doe then say they are meat hunters. If you are a meat hunter you don't pass up any opportunities so don't kid yourselves. Our family has always practiced AR on our property. We lease the majority of our property and allowed to hunt using nuisance permits just don't because we like having deer on our property and taking care of a deer in the summer sucks. I have a friend that shoots deer all summer long on nuisance permits very close to Barrington Cellars. He likes it but says it is a total PITA taking care of the deer.

Amish planer boards
Chas0218 replied to power dive's topic in Questions About Trout & Salmon Trolling?
When a board flips put it in neutral grab the inside rod and just reel dont worry about releasing just reel as hard and fast as physically possible. Before I had auto pilot I needed someone to drive while I set lines. Well we entered a turn and the operator being green turned too sharp in 4' seas and a board flipped. We had just put out our 11th line. We put it in neutral and didnt have a single tangle. Just reeled our butts off. 2 guys reeling 11 lines and no tangles. This was using my homemade boards I now have a little lead on them to weigh them down. Sent from my thinking car! -

Ok I didn't consider other boat traffic/tourneys, I think I will slip my boat. My only concern is having shore power to charge my batteries and the possibility of it sinking. I haven't slipped my boat before and don't have bottom paint. I don't think my boat takes on water I guess I will have to look into it before the tourney. -
Looks like it takes all the fun out of big water!

Largest Pike this winter?
Chas0218 replied to Finders Keepers's topic in Musky, Tiger Musky & Pike (ESOX)
I don't really understand where you're reasoning that they don't survive if caught thru the ice. They are cold blooded and if to cold there bodies actually shut down. Worn that being said, I have caught numerous large pike thru the ice and actually made a "livewell" to keep them alive. I have also brought them home in a bucket 5 hours after catching them and lasting in the ice and they start slapping around once even decided to throw one in my bathtub worth some water. Seemed to live just fine until I fileted him. I think a photo with the pike accompanying a tape measure and scale with the person's tournament number and face would be enough. I think iceshanty.com uses this process for a online tournament. Sent from my thinking chair... -
Whalers are not known for a smooth ride I have ride on a half dozen of them varying in sizes and they ride rough but very stable. I like my old 81 proline and my father in laws 92 and 99. They are all solid boats even when we tried to sink mine and his 92. Obviously not on purpose but mine was a mechanical error. His was from anchoring of the rear while fishing and allowing the ball of the boat to fill up. It was intentional as anchoring from the rear cleat doesn't allow you to sway like it does of the front. Either way you can't go wrong. Sent from my thinking chair...

I think we have enough but thank you for the offer. We have an alternate in case the one guy can't make it. Sent from my thinking chair... -
Can't wait for that! For now I'll enjoy him the size he is, everyone had been telling me they grow up before I know it. Like you wouldn't believe, he managed to get stick at the pelvic bone and had to be forceped out. That was after 3 hours in of hard pushing, and birthing contractions for 36 hours. Thanks everyone! Quite a surreal feeling. Sent from my SM-G900V using Lake Ontario United mobile app

I am just the opposite. I use braid religiously and have lost only 4 fish all at the boat from operator error. I also never allow anyone to adjust drag ever on my boat unless it's my one veteran fishing buddy that taught me how to fish walleye. Mono deteriorates too quickly and breaks easily. I can get easy 5 seasons or more out of my braid. One thing I do the same is big boards. The only time I fish inlines are when I fish by myself.

I think rudder assist is mainly used for sail boats. If I'm not mistaken make sure your rudder limits are correct and you should be fine. Sent from my SM-G900V using Lake Ontario United mobile app

Is it truly a lowrance brand auto pilot or someone else's with lowrances name on it? Personally with lowrance not repairing their products I would not own something with so many moving parts and that much initial cost.Sent from my thinking car!

My father lives about 15 minutes from the bay so I figured I would just drive over then hit a few of the bars and head back. -
I fish alone a lot and it is worth its weight in gold, no lie. It's like having a third arm.

Lund is top notch I have fished out of both and I have seen the above mentioned cracking. It happens more frequently on the modified V boats more the Targa style. I have seen a lot more older Lunds on the water than Tracker (a little hint on which will hold up better). Don't get me wrong I like Trackers and are loaded with options for a great price but they are made with less expensive parts. The Lunds I have looked at or fished on have better components and finishes from what I could tell (bilge pumps, livewell pumps, carpeting/vinyl, paint/powder coating, ect). There is a reason why Lunds cost more. Personally I like composite fiberglass boats and that is what my next boat will be. You can get a resonably priced newer fiberglass for that $26k with a lot more fish-ability and better ride. Now back to your original question, I have a 4700lbs. (loaded with gear and fuel) fiberglass boat and use a 7.5hp johnson to push my boat. It can hit 3 mph into 4' waves with everything deployed (4 dipsys, 4 riggers all stacked) but that is darn near full throttle. I would recommend going bigger than you need and running socks to slow down if you have too. Next year I will be getting a bigger kicker to accommodate my needs. Here are a couple cheap fiberglass all composite. http://www.boattrader.com/listing/1998-PROLINE-17-Sport-102104565 http://www.boattrader.com/listing/2003-PROLINE-20-WALK-102395995
