Mine only has 3 settings it is the evolution 100 series, I generally always have it at performance which is the most sensitive. I think my compass is mounted too far to the rear of the boat so I purchased a new cable to put it further forwards for quicker response of the compass. Right now it is about mid ship but raymarine wants it almost at the very front.

I have a Raymarine autopilot and love it. If you have raymarine electronics you can network them. Mine uses the fluxgate compass and has only had an issue once when I didn't set it up correctly. I love the thing, but trolling slower speeds 2mph or less heading into 4'+ waves it does a lot of over correcting and sometimes limits out. At that point I stand at the helm and help steer a little. I could have my limits setup wrong but think it's right. Only thing I did have to do is buy a longer cord to go from the compass to the head unit.

Trailer to Sodus Pro/Am
Chas0218 replied to Chas0218's topic in Tournament Talk, Shows, Events & Seminars
Ok that is what I thought, I just wanted to make sure. My one buddy was trying to argue with me (bass fisherman) saying tournaments don't work like that. I told him we weren't bass fishing its salmon and the majority if not all salmon tournaments are setup in that style. -
Trailer to Sodus Pro/Am

Yes that was my biggest concern. I saw you needed to be inside the pier heads by 2pm which would should give me plenty of time to get them there but just wanted to make sure. My other question is about boated fish. Obviously they need to be legal size but after we catch our limit of legal sized fish we are done and cannot fish anymore. We aren't allowed to cull fish or throw back ones that are legal but small. Am I correct in my thinking? -

Trailer to Sodus Pro/Am

My boat is only 23' so I shouldn't have an issue there. Where has the weigh-in been in the past? -
All this ice is setting up just in time for my wife to have our kid. Talk about horrible timing haha. At least it wasn't during hunting season.

Great Writeup, very informative. I was looking through the list of your successful lures and it seems like Lake Michigan anglers use a lot more blue than we do here on Lake Ontario. Majority of the time Greens and blacks seems to be the ticket on Lake Ontario.

How many Am's trailer to the Sodus Pro/Am I would like to fish this tournament if I can get a team together but would trailer my boat. Is there enough dock space to tie up pre-tournament hours or is it packed? Also would warrens allow you to launch sat morning before the tournament? Just trying to figure this all out. All recommendations are appreciated especially from those that have fished this tournament.

If the pump says no ethanol then you're good whether it is 93 no ethanol or 91 no ethanol neither have it. I run regular 87 octane with ethanol in my 1988 Johnson 150 for over 4 years now without any issues. At every fill up I also use the Sta-bil marine that has the ethanol treatment in it. I do the same for my little kicker but my kicker after 2 seasons needs a carb rebuild. I think this is more because of running at lower rpm for a long duration (8-10 hours). A little food for thought, my father-in-law has been running 87 octane with ethanol for over 9 years now in his 1985 honda 10hp kicker and 3 years in his 225 honda (only had the boat 3 years) and never had to do a thing to either and he doesn't run any ethanol additive.

Lake Ontario UNTIED or Real House Wife's?
Chas0218 replied to JakeyBaby's topic in Open Lake Discussion
I think a lot of it is fueled by what is happening in current society. We are only hearing about this doom and gloom racist this and killer that. I think that it is overwhelming and it is showing as a society that everyone is out to get under someone's skin because we are all irritated by the crap happening in our nation. No one's voice is being heard and events are getting more extreme, same thing happened before the civil war. Not the online name calling but tension between people. Why cant we all just get along?!?! -

what brand 30 lb wire 1000 ft, how far back floacarbin
Chas0218 replied to fisherman 57's topic in Tackle and Techniques
Same setup only no backing for me and i used the mason wire 1000'. I run 30# mono behind my dipsy usually 5'-6' then my flasher/spin dr. 24"-36" leader then fly. I like to have the whole setup about as long as my rod. -
I usually only have to worry about it when I'm jigging, on my tip-ups I use the snelled hooks with wire leader. Does it hurt them picking them up by the eyes? I have heard contradicting opinions.

Found it finally, I looked all last night and couldn't find it. I had to look under the freshwater section. I guess you can during ice fishing. http://www.dec.ny.gov/outdoor/31416.html Use of Gaffs Use or possession of gaffs or gaff hooks is prohibited When fishing in freshwater, including the Hudson River upstream of the Tappan Zee Bridge, except when ice fishing.
-
Does New York allow the use of gaffs when ice fishing? My buddy has been ice fishing for a long time and always carries a gaff. If they are allowed I would only use them on pike and walleye as pulling a 15 lbs pike thru the ice is awful tough without getting torn up. Sent from my SM-G900V using Lake Ontario United mobile app

Insane! Those big ones are around and will slip up eventually we all just hope it is in front of us and not the other guy. I would LOVE to shoot a mainframe 8 like that! Congrats!

Rod & Reel Suggestions?
Chas0218 replied to Guppy35's topic in Questions About Trout & Salmon Trolling?
I'm with Ray check out Hills Valley and Streams. He is competitive in his pricing and will price match anyone. He has price matched some online sites for me in the past. I don't know if he will do it all the time but when he does I'll buy some spoons or a couple spin dr. just to even it out a little. -

Tractor supply sells the covers I bought 2 new ones for my landscape trailer last year. Here is a link to the caps you will want. http://www.tractorsupply.com/en/store/carry-on-trailer-ez-lube-dust-cap-2990-lbs -
Get something with a big objective to have as much light transition as possible. Anything around 40 is great. If you can get something around a 2.5-7 that would be ideal. All my guns with scopes are Nikon or Bushnell. The Nikon glass is made right here in the USA at the Corning NY plant.
