  1. What was keeping you from shooting that?!?!
  2. Nice looking deer!
  3. Shot was just under 100 yards. Have you used partitions? I was thinking something with a lead tip.
  4. I was just the opposite. I was on the east end St. Lawrence/Henderson area and there wasn't much bait I had lots of arcs. Nothing compared to previous seasons. Early spring bait was non existent. At least for me.
  5. My opinion is that there was a large bait fish kill off from the cold temps this past winter. The lake didn't have enough bait to keep those 3 year old turning 4 years old kings alive. I based this purely on how the walleye season was in May. There wasn't any bait in the bays and we slammed the walleye because they were just so hungry they had to bite my bait. All the walleye anglers will agree it was a stellar year for those old marble eyes.
  6. Thanks, and you too!
  7. Woot woot 1700th post. Here is one that was taken Wednesday before thanksgiving. Not the biggest on the property but it was tough to tell with the heavy snow and getting towards dusk. Going to make him into a European mount. One photo is a little blurry my grandmother was trying take the picture and my phone wasn't cooperating. Scored 118" with 19 inch inside spread. Looks like I need to look into new bullets I am currently using the nosler hunting bullets in my .270win but they aren't retaining the lead core very well. This is the 2nd deer out of 3 that had the bullet fragment a little. The 2 other fragments are about 1/4" x 1/4". Nothing too major but I need something that will hold up to 3000+ fps. I hit the shoulder and spine.
  8. I fished it once in the last 5 years and didnt do well. I only managed 2 dink perch and I threw everything down the hole. I tried tip ups with fat heads to jigging. I fish a small lake north of corning and do well on the crappie. I have to stay close to home within 15 minutes and cell phone service is a must. My wife and are expecting and she doesnt like the idea of me going so the closer to home the better. Sent from my thinking car!
  9. So this winter I plan on fishing Cowanesque lake near me in P.A. it is just over the border. If anyone has any info on the lake it would be greatly appreciated. Those of you that fish new lakes what is the first thing you look for or do? This lake has flooded timber at one end and has a dam at the other. The lake gets to about 60' by the dam and 6' at the flooded timber. I have done a google search and have come up with some info but I couldn't find any contour maps for the lake.
  10. I never really got into the 30-30's they aren't much different than a shotgun. If I were to buy another rifle it would be in 25-06. My father and grandfather both have a lever action marlin, one is side ejection and the other is top. You are going to want to make sure and get the side ejection in case you want to mount a scope. My dad has a scope on the top ejection but is offset and is awkward to shoot.
  11. Good deal, Stay on them only 2 more days in the southern zone for gun!
  12. The okumas are $27.95 at fishusa right now. I bought 2 more for my x-mas present to myself. I think I have around 8 or 10 including the 2 I just bought. The other rods are a couple old penn fathoms, and 8 of the depthmaster 8'-6" downrigger rods for walleye. I am slowly replacing the depthmasters with the Okumas. My dipsys rods are the 9' okumas with twilli tips. If I had to do it again I would get the 10'6" rod. It is a lot easier with a longer rod getting the flahser/fly outside the downriggers although the longer rod is a little more awkward.
  13. Man I wish I had weighed in this king. Bet he was all of 400 maybe next year! I can't take credit for the photo my buddy shared it with me on Facebook. Sent from my SM-G900V using Lake Ontario United mobile app
  14. I use the Okuma classic pro glt in the 8'-6". They run double duty on my boat as in line planer and downrigger rods. Fishusa.com has them cheap. Sent from my SM-G900V using Lake Ontario United mobile app
  15. Too bad the hide is gone I would like to know if it was run down or shot and the yotes just found it.
  16. Does it have a pump or gravity fed?
  17. Was that a Southern Tier kill? We saw one this year it had a tracking collar and ear tag we decided to leave it be, didn't want to screw around with things.
  18. Glad to hear it is melting away, especially in respect to the game in that area. I imagine they are used to that kind of snow but that much must have had a hurting on the little ones.
  19. Just an update he cleaned his barrel REALLY good and now is grouping 200 yard shots together at 2". It sounds like he still has some cleaning to to do but is a lot better now.
  20. We had the same issue on our property the year they logged it. After they logged it and left a lot of tops piled up it is probably the best property in the area a year after they logged. We never push deer on our property and see deer walking around like it's still bow season. They might be a little skittish but still have no problem getting up and walking around. We also try to walk in the same path, I think the deer pattern us but seem to not care walking across our path where on another property they do push deer and as soon as they smell your path they turn and run.
  21. Soon they will be roaming the streets of buffalo just to get out of the deep snow.I don't know how the late dropped fawns will weather it. I saw a fawn last weekend that was only 30lbs. at best. I had to look twice expecting to see spots.
  22. In my younger years (last year) I would have tried to clean the truck off and blast thru it all. haha looks like you need a snowmobile not a truck...
  23. Those are a nosler bullet. Extremely expensive, compared to other over the shelf ammo but if they shoot well then it is worth the money.
  24. Yeah do you have a better photo? It looks like the finish is coming off in those photos.
  25. Sweet video!
