  1. If you do this without water you can ruin a water impeller. I would not advise doing this.
  2. I didn't see it but I am sure they are out there. I have seen a number of nice bucks this season. One tipping the scales at 160" that farm country allows them to get big! My families' property isn't far from Marion I'm surprised I haven't seen anything on facebook.
  3. I had just the opposite. On our 230 acres I saw 17 doe, 3 bucks. The one buck was a 130" 10 point, he wasn't the one I was looking for so passed him up. Deer were everywhere. Now 2 things can attribute to not seeing deer. 1st predators in the area people or not, 2nd human scent. I hunt the wind and do it religously, I will pass on spots I know the wind won't work. If your wind swirls (likely if hunting on a hill) then you won't probably see a thing on an all day sit. I found the best part of gun season to be in the woods is actually the 2nd day and the weekend following. Deer are skittish but not nocturnal yet. Not to mention people in my area shoot the first thing that walks in front of them just to say they filled their tags. Opening day was like WW3 but sunday I heard maybe 25 shots all day. 10 were from the same guy.
  4. I agree and on our property this is the case. We have around 230 acres that covers a little over 2.5 square miles. I sit on one side of the property and see different deer than the other. With that being said we have 3 "shooters" this year one being over 150" 10 point, another being 140" 10 point and the last and smallest 130" 8 point. We have an easy 3 to 1 ratio does to bucks on our property and have seen all 3 deer just not close enough. One spot I hunted last week I was blown by the smaller 8 point that had the smaller 10 point right in front of him. They weren't fighting or getting ready but both within 15' feet of each other walking thru the area.
  5. I have and it does seem to bother the deer until it is eventually washed away. I usually try not too but when nature calls I'm not walking back to my car or out of my hunting area.
  6. Well said
  7. I say tip-up
  8. Hunted this weekend and saw the big guy I was after. 160" 10 point, had him at last light 48 yards just too thick to shoot. It seems like they are skirting my spot by 20 yards to my south. If it were gun that boy would be done. Hopefully I see him saturday morning. He is a booner for sure, at my other spot same property saw a smaller 10 point only 140" rack. He would make a nice constellation prize if I can't seal the deal on the big boy. Then 2 120" 8 points. they need another year hope they make it!
  9. Love that place. Unfortunate for my wife and our bank account they are only 15 minutes away.
  10. Nice! she did better than I for a first deer, mine was a doe actually I didn't get a buck for my first 3 years.
  11. ???
  12. When I saw the map yesterday I was surprised to see the one end of long island went republican. With so many republican counties I am surprised he won...Voter fraud?
  13. You and me both, I have tried on several occasions and in areas I knew there were some larger bucks and nothing!
  14. They worked for what they have and you feel they should be punished for being successful? You're showing your true colors or color in this regard. I'm referring to welfare and government handout programs, and socialist agenda was referencing the title of the thread. He will ruin upstate NY and sportsman/women, I know I did my part to try and get rid of this hypocrite.
  15. Hunting isn't an excuse, the polls closed at 9!
  16. You couldn't be more right.
  17. You know their motto, "Take from EVERYONE and give to the poor". On the up side we now control the senate and the house! Maybe his radical socialist agenda will get shoved back down his throat, among other things.
  18. We are screwed the idiot is re-elected. Sent from my thinking chair...
  19. Yup I am waiting to hunt my areas until this weekend, the cold mornings have to be good still. I can't get out because of work...Damn work!
  20. I got out there this morning, was the first thru the polls in my area.
  21. Mud Chicken! Lake trout?
  22. I know of a charter in the henderson area that does the same. Generally passes me like I'm standing still.
  23. I used schedule 80 on my homemade one and put a 1' piece of glavanized/black pipe up the bottom. I did have to heat it a little to get her soft enough for the pipe to slide in.
  24. Saw a big 10 chasing sat evening had to of been 150"+. They are chasing guys get out there! Unfortunately I have to work for the next 5 days, maybe I can get an evening hunt in this week. There is always Veteran's Day too.
  25. Yeah this year I haven't had a tick on me yet and I hunt a heavily populated area. I think with the better than average acorn crop the ticks will leave us alone more. I saw a study that related the acorn crop to mouse population and if there is a good crop there will be more mice. Meaning the ticks will stay on them versus finding a new donor. This might have been the article: http://www.pestworld.org/news-and-views/press-releases/press-releases/acorns,-not-weather,-to-blame-for-more-ticks/
