Those new England firearm guns are great and cheap I think I bought mine for $85 Sent from my thinking chair...

Just curious what size peep? I had a 1/4" installed and I couldn't group arrows to save my life changed to a 3/16" and my accuracy went way up. Sent from my thinking chair...

I just looked and you lost almost 1/2" of brace height that will decrease the bows amount of forgiveness. You're going to get vibration because the bow isn't trying to jump out of your hand. Sent from my thinking chair...

Couple things, have you increased poundage, decreased arrow weight, lowered beaver height? If you did any of those it will be louder than your other bow. Shorter Brace height will decrease bow forgiveness. It sounds like you haven't shot the bow enough to be confident with it. Sent from my thinking chair...

The gobbies are also good meals for those marble eyes and bass. Sent from my thinking chair...

Yeah but when he is shooting heavier arrows, higher poundage, making more kinetic energy and his broadheads (rage hypodermic) are only penetrating into the side of the animal and not passing thru, tells me a lot of kinetic energy is lost using that head. I have only shot 1 mechanical it did its intended job but the whole penetration thing is huge. I want my BH to do as much damage as possible by penetrating as far and as much vitals as possible. I too found that my arrow has more of a punch at 20 yards than closer but after 20 it starts to drop. I shot a deer at 50 yards 2 years ago and only penetrated 18" into the chest cavity. After examining the deer closer I hit 2 ribs and cut the top of the heart off but I would have expected more penetration.

I'm not here to bash rage but I have shot 2 to 1 deer than my buddy and have recovered more deer than he has. My shots are generally not taken by most people. I see opportunities I don't pass them if I know I can make the shot. This was a 3 blade chisel tip 1" cutting diameter went 30 yards and piled. Went in just in front of the left rear hip and poked out under the skin opposite right front shoulder. Stuck him like a shish kabob. I have never seen a rage penetrate this far. O yeah this was a 170lbs. dressed 9 point. If it meant passing on these bucks because of the broad head I selected I would be junking them ASAP. This was a neck shot straight quartering towards hit carotid and spined him.

Haha reading all these posts made me realize I will soon not have to worry about spare time and a lot of my hobbies will be adjusted to say the least. Looks like I have my work cut out for me! haha thanks everyone we're looking forward to this new chapter in our lives. I like the high chair idea, and the backpack I will need to keep a few of these in the back of my mind.

O ok gotcha. I was thinking you wanted just a light brush gun. I wouldn't be afraid of a .243 it sounds small but is one of the flattest shooting rifles I own. I have shot it out to 300 yards and just kept the crosshair same spot as 50 yards and she drives tacks. My wife uses it during gun season and has dropped deer in there tracks on several occasions. It is a necked down .308 (.308 brass with .243 bullet) lots of punch in that little round. I use the Hornady Superformance 90gr. ballistic tip for deer. I understand you like the .308 but I wouldn't stray from the .243 if you find one in the model 7.

I have been thinking of new a new rifle and was considering a cartridge in the new Nosler 26. Seems to be similar to the old .260 roberts rounds but faster and flatter shooting. What are you looking to do with it, Long range (over 150 yards), short range, brush gun? If you are looking for something in the brush it is hard to beat the old 20 gauge pump with a rifled barrel.

Yup have been using them for 4 seasons Yes YES YES I have shot numerous deer with them and seeing the shot placement allowed me to tell how long I should give the deer. Nocturnal have been my go to, I have tried luminocks and were hit or miss and died quickly These really shine (no pun intended) at last light shots. These will always be in my quiver.

Nice, I would have had a hard time passing up that deer! Good job.

I never thought of that. We have a press already. That is a good idea.

Thanks! I figured if I get into a hobby that has a little higher start-up cost I can swing it before the kid gets here.
