Thanks for all the suggestions guys. I'll try any and all for the tools o have at my in laws. After i get to my tools I should be able to get this thing figured out better. So for an update. The starter looks somewhat new but not sure if it's a marine starter or not. I was able to get the starter to turn using the jumper method but the bendix wouldn't engage. I'm guessing it has set up. I pull the exhaust manifolds and plugs to take a look and see if there are any signs of foul play and they looked good. I think something at the back of the motor is screwed. I got the starter to kick out twice (by pure luck) but sounded like it was grinding on the flywheel. So not sure whats going on. It is looking like i need to pull it all and inspect. Best case scenario right now is I'll need to replace some gaskets worst case new short block. Anyone know where the neutral safety switch is? I'll try and keep everyone updated with the progress. Thanks guys. Battery is good, no corrosion on battery or leads on battery. I'll check grounds. Cant get to starter to tap on it. They shoehorned this thing in there. I have about 3" of clearance around the sides of the motor. It hasn't been ran in a year so the starter might be set up. Jumping the slave did nothing so I'm guessing it's the starter solenoid not the slave but i will see. Sent from my SM-G930V using Lake Ontario United mobile app

Well got to work on the boat a bit. Seems that she wont turn over and just clicks. The slave solenoid is doing the clicking so im going to try and replace that first. Otherwise it's the starter, hoping it's not the starter because I'll have to pull the motor. Sent from my SM-G930V using Lake Ontario United mobile app

No, i mean if you dont choose to download that other area you're S.O.L.if you don't download the area. On the navionics site you can choose the area you want to get the sonar charts for. When doing this it will only allow you to download a certian amount of data to your chip. I can get most of Lake erie and all of Lake Ontario including the St. Lawrence river. I cant remember if i got the finger lakes too. Sent from my SM-G930V using Lake Ontario United mobile app

I love my Raymarine units. I liked them so much I bought the Raymarine autopilot. I had a humminbird before these and it was nice for what it was. One thing I don't like about the new bird units is the glare from the screen. I'm hardly ever sitting right in from of it so if I can't view it from other angles it useless to me. The older models had better viewing angles with less glare.

No it still works just as it did without the subscription. You just loose the ability to receive new data from other users. Other features will only work if your chartplotter/GPS supports it. No it still works just as it did without the subscription. You just loose the ability to receive new data from other users. Other features will only work if your chartplotter/GPS supports it. No all recorded data is still saved to your GPS/Chip. If you deleted it then you would no longer have it. Guys you can still use the charts you just loose the automatic updates that you get when you update your chip/maps. Mine ran out 2 years ago and I missed this deal otherwise I would have renewed. My Chartplotter can update the maps via my live sonar but I would loose out on areas I don't frequent. So in other words if you fish the same area and you have the maps already you should be fine, if you go somewhere new and you don't have the data you will be S.O.L.

If it gets to the point where nothing is worth saving I'll be putting a transom bracket on it with an outboard. I'll sell the outdrive if need be. The outdrive is in really good shape betting it was replaced at some point as there is barely any corrosion anywhere. The engine was replaced not long ago and hasn't seen much use since so I wouldn't imagine it coming apart too hard. Now that I've said it she is going to be a total b****.

Yes, I have been doing some research and the motor cover serial number comes up as a 5.0L but has all the 5.7 badging. They didn't offer this boat with a 5.0L so I'm not real sure what is going on with that motor cover. I think I need to just pull the motor and go from there. I don't mind fixing someone else's screw ups I like things to be right and like you said safety is #1 concern.

My Father in Law bought it and didn't take a close look. He said it did have a spark arestor on it. I'm not sure if the EFI engines came with that. It is a 5.7 but not sure if it is Carb or EFI. My plan was to start it see what is going on and go from there. Worse case scenario I have a a complete long block in my garage I'll convert to the Marine motor. Might be a little much for that boat though it's a 383 out of my camaro (500hp with current cam and able to spin out to 6800rpm). I'm not a marina kind of guy I do all my own work on my cars and boats but I appreciate the info. If I don't end up having time to get into the motor I'll take it up to Clayton. My buddy also recommended them. FWIW the available I/O engines for this boat were the following but I do know it is a Mercruiser: Merc. 5.7L B2 250 Merc. 5.7L B3 250 Merc. 5.7L EFI B3 250 Volvo 5.0 GlOP 250 Volvo 5.7 GSIDP 280 Out of these engines with all the research I have done over the years on Pro-Line boats I've never seen one with a Volvo. I know about assumptions but I would assume that the listed engines that are EFI are the ones that have EFI after them or the Volvos. I forgot to add that the owner said it has a Vortec V8 from a Camaro so I was assuming EFI based on the Vortec but they make Carb manifolds for the LT1 and LS engines. This is also a Florida boat so I doubt the block is cracked unless from corrosion. For the year it is in better shape than a lot of newer Pro-Lines.

So I just picked up a Pro-line I/O, I'm not new to the car engine world or the outboard world but am new to the stern-drive world. I picked up the boat cheap, cheap enough that I could gut it and make my money back on the trailer alone. The guy just wanted to get rid of it. In the bad section you'll notice that the motor has some issues, he said it is having fuel issues. Anyone have any input on the I/O Pro-lines or I/Os in general? The good: Solid boat never been slipped or bottom painted Composite hull Lower unit and upper housing perfect (I retract this statement, Upper housing has a bad input shaft bearing) Aluminum trailer Newer garmin echoMap DV 7" or bigger The bad: Motor isn't running right Trailer needs some work (brakes and re-wiring)

Further forward has less pull on the mast and further behind the boat. Further towards the back the harder they will pull. You can't go any further than the exact middle of the board towards the back. If you do they will not work. General rule of thumb is 1/3 down from the top and 1/3 back from the front.

I like the Okuma GLT rods cheap and durable.

I like my .270 Win and the wifes .243 Win. I have a 30-06 that doesn't make it out of the safe. I would like a 6.5 Creedmoor but for what I do and hunt I'm good. My next might be a 25-06 (30-06 necked down to 25 caliber). 30-06 is a good all around cartridge with .308 ballistics. I would look and see which is the cheapest to shoot and go that route. I re-load so all my rounds are cheaper than buying in store. What rifle you looking at? I like the Tikka T3 good accurate gun, by far the best trigger out of all the guns I have shot and owned. I have never liked Savage but others like them. I heard good things about the Ruger American one rifle I've never shot. Remington has gone to crap, if you go Remington buy used pre 1990s. Shot a Mossberg and I'll never pick one up again. They go bang everytime but fit and finish was junk and 3 shot groups were all over with 3 different scopes.

I own a beckman that is going on its 8th season. Whatever net you get get the cover I bought mine when I bought the net. Best investment I made never have to worry about the net rotting out from UV light when it's hanging up in the barn or in the cuddy. Also get one of the pinch style downrigger releases and electrical tape it to the handle and pinch the net in it before trying to net the fish. It works wonders keeping the net from dragging in the water and getting tangled up in the fish.

And the question still stands was he ticketed for the same offenses? I haven't seen anything in the news or on facebook so someone must be keeping it hush hush.

I only hunt over my bait pile. I had a couple fox come in but nothing as of lately I am thinking of moving it a little further away from the house. Any insight on how far would be good I have a driveway alarm that works great with a camera setup over it. My only thought is that the scent of my dogs might be driving them off? I have had a fisher cat and lots of coons but no yotes yet. Right now it is 100 yards from the house near a field line. My buddy that runs dogs on state land about 3 miles from my house says the state land is loaded with tracks where I'm only getting a few fox tracks.

So Saiff got nailed again baiting for clients? He lost all hunting related guiding privileges until Jan 1st this year so I doubt things will go so well for him. Personally I think he got off easy with $15000 in fines and charges.
