  1. This normally unless everyone is sleeping then I just mosie over to the rod then reel like a SOB until there is tension. Once it screams off a lot of drag then I hand it to someone for the grueling task of reeling the 500'+ of line out. haha
  2. Ya seasick waddler is the worst spoon ever so are NBK, 42nd, King of Sting, and green alewife. You guys want to make sure and never run those spoons you don't even want to keep them in your box and take up room for the better producing spoons. I'll give you guys this once in a lifetime chance, if you PM me I will send you my address and I can dispose of those horrible spoons free of charge. Of course you will need to pay shipping.
  3. Stony/Henderson will heat up when the water does. That seems to be the last place for the action to heat up. Some of the best walleye action on the lake but not as great for early salmon action.
  4. Might be a bit much. Give it a shot and see. You will likely be able to idle and maybe just a touch of throttle to get your speed.
  5. You guys will laugh but when I first got my boat I would sleep in it on the trailer on our longer trips. My boat has a cuddy that is large enough for me and 1 other guy. We would stay on that get up at dawn launch the boat fish all day then put her back up on the trailer sleep another night then back up to fish then head home. It wasn't an ideal situation but we didn't have to pay slip fees, or for a hotel room. It all depends on what you want to do. If you don't mind fishing out of the same harbor/port it isn't an issue. If you like to fish all over then trailering is the only economical option. I would rather trailer and get 10mpg than drive the boat and get 2mpg (on a good day).
  6. With the walleye fishing so good it is hard to "Leave fish to find fish". Granted walleye fishing is like reeling in an old boot but at least you're catching something.
  7. I was just about to send in my entry form last week, but the wife informed me that we have a wedding to attend and her sisters graduation...Why can't people get married in the winter and leave the summer weekends for more important things! haha
  8. Within 10% they seem fine to me generally anything around 125 is good. Sent from my thinking chair...
  9. I have used an alright knot before
  10. There aren't many of the buckets left. Quite a few boxes of Thunderbolts. 1 per a customer per a day.
  11. I have used this for wire all the way to my downrigger weights. I have never had one fail. The key to having them last is to check your connections prior to deploying every use. I check mine before every trip but haven't needed to retie since I started using this knot 2 years ago.
  12. Really? I better check mine now that you say something... I really hope I don't have to run more wires it's starting to look like a substation with all the electrical wires!
  13. I'm with ya but I can't find it anywhere else it is my last resort at this point for me. I only generally shop at Cabela's, and the little guys anymore the stuff they sell at bass pro has gotten really cheap.
  14. What did the bucket run ya?
  15. Might have to make a run over there during my lunch...hope they have some left.
  16. The stren is probably mono unless it says flouro specifically on it. Like this stuff Generally speaking with a 10'-15' leader of 12lbs. flouro you're not going to have much line resistance effecting the action of the spoon. I'm just curious when you say your hook up rate went up are you referring to the actual number of fish you caught or less short strikes/false releases? If it went up that much I may have to experiment to see if mine improve.
  17. I don't use 50lbs line I was using that as an example. I have tied 50lbs. line to 12lbs. leaders without the knot getting stuck in the eyes of my pole using a Double Uni knot. I use 20lbs. and 30lbs. big game to a 12lbs. flouro leader.
  18. You run straight 12lbs. flouro on rigger lines? That is kind of a waste, mono is much cheaper and will get the job done. I personally wouldn't fish with anything lighter than 20lbs. for salmon but hey thats just me. Granted you can fit more line on the spool but you would have to fight the fish for a long time on that weight line.
  19. Why even screw around do what lost a lure said! Yup exactly what I was thinking!
  20. I would suggest changing your knot. I have used 50lbs mono tied to 12lbs leader and never had an issue with it coming thru the eyes. I use a double uni knot. Make sure you lube up the knot good with spit or dish soap. http://www.netknots.com/fishing_knots/double-uni-knot/

This post is the first i have seen fish with bait in them. Since the opener I haven't caught a fish with anything in its belly.
  22. Sea Sick Waddler, NBK, 42nd, and Monkeyshine for Lakers. Those always seem to outproduce any other spoon I own.
  23. I caught a 9lbs. walleye 3 weeks ago that had roe in it still. There wasn't a lot about an 1/8 cup but I have never had that happen before and everyone just looked at me funny when I told them.
  24. Are they bottom feeders like carp? I mean I have never caught a carp on a stick bait while trolling but have caught a ton of sheephead. I would assume they eat other bait fish if they are slamming lures.
  25. I have done both, kicker is the way to go. It gives you 2 motors so you have a back up and saves wear and tear on your big engine. It is hard on the bigger engines running at idle or just above for long periods of time. On bag size I would suggest 2 one for each side. I ran 1 bag on 1 side of the boat and it liked to run sideways. I have a 23' long by 8' wide boat with a 150hp outboard and run (2) 18" bags. That will slow my big motor at idle to about 1mph or less.
