Scot is up there today and thinks he caught one 10lbs.+ He threw it on the scale and it read 9.1 but he said his scale isn't working. I had one on last weekend got it right behind the boat it had to of been over 30 inches then just turned and pop no more fish. I was in the process of grabbing the net. I about cried. I'm trying to get a few nice ones to make one of these.

I just gave him the plug color so if he had one that was different he would know why. Lots of people didn't trust those VRO pumps but I have never had an issue (knock on wood) and the Merc injection pumps were far worse failure wise. Ya aluminum is a definite bad sign and you likely have a hole in your piston. lol

You are correct. It is in the video.

You can also try the Dunks De-Carbing method to remove an excessive carbon build from your motor. Many outboard manufactures will tell owners to "De-Carb" their motors. It is very simple and from what I have read doesn't hurt the motor or its components. I will be doing it this weekend to my motor as it has been idling something horrible and has a hard time starting. I in no way take responsibility for the method used if something were to happen but if you google "Dunks De-Carb" you will get a ton of info on it. I also think this could have saved Spike a motor or 2.

My Oil primer bulb is generally hard, I can usually get about half a pump. I have never had to prime it except for the first time of the season and that is usually only pump and half. If you really wanted to see if your mixture is right and your pump is working properly you need to fill your fuel tank and the oil reservoir then fill the tank and oil res to the same spot after a couple trips and measure how much gas you put in and do the same for the oil. use your numbers and set up a proportion. 50:1 50 Gallons of gas:1 gallon of oil example: 50 gallons of gas/10 gallons used=5 Convert 1 gallon to oz.= 128oz. 128oz/5=25.6oz this is the amount of oil you should have used since you last filled the motor. I am in no way calling you out Spike but this is what I do throughout the season especially if my motor seems to run different. If you check you plugs periodically and notice a different colored plug(s) that means there is a problem. If plugs are brownish tan that is a perfect mixture plug. If plug is black and lots of black soot then too much oil or fuel (most likely oil). If plugs are a whiteish color with white soot that means running lean.

Ya mine does a lot of searching but the track line still looks really straight. I'm betting with the GPS tied in she does a little better. I too have the evolution and love the thing. It is worth its weight in gold especially if you fish in any water with larger than 1' chop.

Might have been us but I don't remember seeing you, were you in the pontoon or the striper? We had 2 gps going just to make sure we wouldn't hit anything. That fog was spooky, left ya with a eerie feeling. We are heading up again hopefully we can get in them again. These warm temps are going to start pushing them out.

Mine has an alarm for fuel starvation (Johnson 150) because of the VRO pump. I couldn't figure out what was going on and it was from a kinked line when I would trim the motor, I just had to install OMC grade fuel line and no problems after that.

Got them in Chaumont bay around the shoals. I would tell you a location but they were pretty scattered. I think I covered most of the east side of the bay the entire weekend.

I to have used it about 6 trips now and can't believe I didn't have it sooner. I went out with my father in law in his boat without it and fought the boat the entire time. It sucked major, now I look forward to trolling in the wind and rougher waters. If someone was on the fence about it just buy it and explain it to the wife later. Sent from my thinking chair...

It might have something to do with the USA not manufacturing lead anymore. If that is the case the price of lead will soar and cause more companies to buy lead from over seas and raise the price of their products. We can thank the EPA for that one.

It uses a brain that is mounted in my cuddy cabin, a hydraulic pump, a electronic compass, and the head unit (pictured above). It uses the compass to find a heading the head unit tells the brain what course you want then the brain tells the pump when and what direction to turn the motor. There are other units that use a mechanical drive behind the steering wheel to control the boat but I opted for the hydraulic pump and power steering because my steering cable went to crap after 1 season.

Sounds like a lot of varnish in the tank and is clogging the filter. You could use some acetone to dissolve the varnish already in the tank, also e85 will do it too just don't run either of them thru your motor. Other than that just keep running it and changing the filter until it is gone.

I bought the Raymarine EV-100. Really quite simple to use and install. The user interface makes it super simple to operate. Here is a photo of it in action. Kept me going straight and on course but the boat was actually quartering the waves and side stepping because the waves were pushing the boat backwards almost
