  1. How big is your boat and what type is it? Is it a Center console, dual console, tiller, cuddy cabin, walk around? I have a 50" wide x 48" long x 36" tall that is attached the console of my 23' walk around. It is enough to keep us out of the sun and gives us tons of room at the back of the boat to fish.
  2. That actually looks like a pre-Rapala Storm lure. I have one that is the same style (not color) but are no longer made.
  3. Alright so here is an update. I noticed most if not all of my baits I used only had 2 hooks except my smithwicks. Almost all the fish I caught over the weekend ended up being caught on the first and second hook of the smithwicks and the first hook on the other baits. I decided against removing the treble. I did experiment with one of the baits I removed the treble. The action was changed but the bait would not track right no matter what I did. Also bending 1 of the barbs really didn't do anything for removing fish from the net.
  4. Actually yes. That was when I purchased the boat. It ended up being an 81 and not an 82.
  5. Hmmm makes me wonder then. It's a 1981 Proline. I can't imagine the transom to be original to the boat but if it was replaced they removed the cap to do so. There isn't any signs of it being replaced. Sent from my thinking chair...
  6. Out of Chaumont bay. Sent from my thinking chair...
  7. The link doesn't seem to work. Is it open boundaries?
  8. Here are a few photos from my shakedown trip for walleye. Caught 6 eyes but forgot to take photos of the other 5. [/url] Front moving out.
  9. The ambient temp shouldn't make any difference. Periodically pull the bearing buddys and look for discolored grease. That is a definite sign you have water intrusion into the bearing and the rear seal needs to be replaced. While it is getting replaced re-pack the bearing.
  10. I didn't realize you guys were able to seal the vent. That would be the reason why it isn't filling right. try opening the vent then fill it. I am willing to bet it will work a lot better. On my boat the vent isn't sealed and allows the tank to "breath" at all times.
  11. Ya I could imagine.
  12. If you have fox or coyotes they will leave in a hurry. I had a neighbor walking and pushing birds off my property one year he started before the season and I didn't see a single male and only 2 females.
  13. Try putting it in slow. I have to do that on my boat because of the turns in the hose. It makes it hard for the gas to make it down into the tank. How deep in is the flap? Could a long funnel push it out of the way and allow better flow?
  14. Make sure everything is grounded properly. I had my throttle whack me once because of a frayed wire.
  15. Good job! We were in the derby but could only manage little guys. Did you catch the majority of yours in the AM or PM. We caught ours in the PM in Chaumont bay.
  16. It sounds like they are over tightening them if they wear out that fast. Generally I pull mine once a year check for wear and repack. When you are running on a trip pull over and touch the bearing, if they are hot then they are either going bad or over tightened. When I tighten mine I do it hand tight then 1 notch on the castle nut. I run it then jack back up and check for play. You should have very little to no play.

    Opening day

We caught 6 on Saturday 2 were around 7am and the other 4 around 3 pm. The smallest was 5lbs. and largest was 7lbs. No fishing today due to bad weather. Most came on yozuris and smithwicks. Sent from my thinking car!
  18. Just wondering if anyone has seen a boat with a cedar transom? As much as I cringed I needed to mount my kicker bracket on my boat last week. Well I drilled (4) 1/4" holes into my transom. Great news was that she was dry as a bone not bad for a 1981 boat. The strange thing was that it smelled something strong of cedar and more red than other woods I have seen. Now before you all jump all over me I have been wood working for 12 years and have been around all sorts of different wood. I also checked this with my buddy's father that has been building furniture and wood working for 30+ years and also said it was very close to cedar if it wasn't. Now do they or did they use cedar in marine applications at some point? I can't believe this is the original transom as I have only owned the boat for 4 years. I have also mounted other things on other people's transoms and nothing I have seen looked or smelled like this.

You too, looking to get out and catch a couple dinners.
  20. You could use that aerosol bed liner stuff too.
  21. Yup I thought the same. If I'm in a pinch and need it (if they stock it) and no where else has them I bite the bullet. Otherwise I go anywhere else.
  22. Nick did you try moving that front mount further forward? looks like you could make up a little distance there.
  23. I should be in, my buddy should have my whole boat signed up by this point.
