  1. My oil alarm was continuous.
  2. I buy most of mine online from either http://www.marineengine.com/ or http://www.boats.net/parts/search/parts.html Both have treated me well in the past.
  3. That's what I use. Make sure you buy a grease that says for marine use. Don't go with the heaviest grease you can find because it won't dissipate the heat...ask me how I know.
  4. When I first put my 150 on my boat it would give me an alarm. Mine was caused by a fuel line that would kink once it was trimmed up and slightly turning to the right.
  5. Haha you and me both Joe! I'll keep an eye open for it when were out there Saturday.
  6. With a front coming thru fish always get a bad case of lock jaw.
  7. Here is another one that has the estimated current direction. http://www.glerl.noaa.gov/res/glcfs/currents/glcfs-currents-surf.html
  8. http://graphical.weather.gov/sectors/bufMarineWeek.php#tabs This isn't a guarantee but works well for me.
  9. Thanks, I have noticed that Cabelas in PA is the same way when it comes to trolling equipment. It seems like a lot of the trolling items are online order only at a lot of stores.
  10. Ok thanks guys! I will on one side of the boat just cut off the front hook of the treble to see if it saves time. The other i will remove it completely to see if it effects the performance or fish catching ability.
  11. Coming up this weekend! Sent from my thinking chair...
  12. I left mine raw and did not do as well as when they were painted black. I use the high temp engine paint, it's enamel based and gives a good hard coating. Sent from my thinking car!
  13. I'll try it this weekend, I have extra trebles so if it doesn't work I'll just throw on another.
  14. Tried that but a small enough single on the front hook won't fit a split ring thru it. My other thought was to bend the front barb of the treble against the shank.
  15. Ya that was what I plan on doing but thought maybe someone else has tried it. I'm not really looking for higher catch rates that would be bonus but looking for easier netting and moving the fish from the net. I have a treated net but I still seem to get hooks in it. I figure with 1 less treble there is 1 less hook to mess with.
  16. I don't know if you guys are planning on painting these but when you do scuff it up a little with a scotch brite. I used the black high temp engine paint, this stuff is enamel based and seems to hold up better than regular rustoleum. Also it goes on a little thinker and creates a thin shell around the weight.
  17. That is the question! Should I remove the front treble on my stickbaits or leave it. I have only had 1 walleye ever get caught on the front treble but I am not sure if it will change the lure and cause it to do circles under the boat. I can take it off and see what it does in the water next to the boat but not sure if it will change below the surface. The main reason for me to remove it is so netting and removing the fish from the net is easier. I would be doing this on Storm thunder sticks, smithwicks, bombers, and maybe my husky jerks.
  18. haha Love it! Normally when I'm at the helm I look over and ask my buddies, "is someone going to just let the fish on that pole drown or bring it in?"
  19. Ouch, I was hoping for the best. I know A&P auto in Palmyra sells used engines. Probably run you around $500 for complete motor they might tear off the stuff you don't need and give you a better deal. I would guess if the water jacket is that bad then the heads might be cracked as well.
  20. What do you mean by water out of the water jackets? Are the drain valves shut all the way? When the person winterized the engine they might have left the drains open. Any junk yard motor will work all you have to do is change the cam out and put your intake and exhaust manifolds on it. you could run it all season and do a rebuild in the off season.
  21. Sweet I'm looking forward to seeing it, I love watching Salmon Showdown in my down time. Great production!
  22. I use this site for wave height, It can be a little cumbersome with a smartphone but it seems to be more accurate than most. FWIW I am not saying it is always accurate. http://graphical.weather.gov/sectors/bufMarineWeek.php#tabs I use this one for wind. http://www.sailflow.com/spot/55475 I generally use their app and it works good for instant readings. I only really trust the weather station in the middle of the lake for accurate readings, and that one is almost always right.
  23. Ya I was up at Chaumont on Sunday and it was clear. The lake side of the isthmus has small chunks of pack ice that moves in and out with the wind direction. Anyone see Black River Bay at all?
  24. I have not but have been debating on buying some. Which ones are you looking at? I was looking at the schooling bait ones.
  25. Be careful with dual brake setups on tandem axle trailers. If you brake hard and lock up the trailer wheels you will most likely jack knife versus having only 1 out of the 2 axles with brakes.
